08.01.2022 Risk Framework Has Yours Been Independently Reviewed? APRA regulated bodies, Australian Financial Services licensees and ASX listed entities require annual declarations on the adequacy and effectiveness of their risk management frameworks (CPS220/RG259/Corporate Governance Principle 7). With both annual and comprehensive 3 yearly reviews due in the coming months, have you reviewed your risk management framework and systems to ensure they are both operating effectively and... have considered the impacts of COVID-19 as a key risk? Frameworks need to address each material risk i.e. COVID-19, by referencing the risk appetite statement, risk policies and procedures and providing a documented overview of how the risk management strategy addresses these material risks. All elements need to be updated before 30 June! JNW can provide an independent organisational risk framework review covering appropriateness, effectiveness and adequacy of the risk framework to ensure your assessments, sign-offs, compliance plans and controls are sufficient to address COVID-19 risks. Our assurance process provides comfort to Boards/Audit Committees that your risk appetite and supporting risk framework tools, meet regulatory standards.

06.01.2022 Excitingly, there is a sense of victory in the air. As businesses start to recover from the lock downs and pandemic impacts, gains won with IT and digitisation should be leveraged going forward. However, as acknowledged in this well written article on risk culture, changes to processes will need to be reviewed by all three lines of defence - management need to document the new ways of doing things, the risk team need to identify any risk profile movements and internal audit should be used to confirm the effectiveness and efficiency gains. Exciting times indeed. https://www.linkedin.com//jeffreydwebb_banks-wealth-firms-
