25.01.2022 This is the first of a pair of ISO gouache paintings. It represents a glimpse inside The Melbourne Conservatory and was painted from my Ipad photos on cold days. Cheers Jo

25.01.2022 Yesterday I had a lovely day at my exhibition, Celebrating Life in Small Works at Kinross Art Centre Toorak. Sold four paintings and some cards and had two more sign up for my gouache workshop. The exhibition runs from 10am - 3pm during the week only. I will be there all days except Thursdays when I teach at The Victorian Artists Society Studios. So lovely to catch up with VAS students, former Canterbury GSC students, Choir and Church friends Instagram followers and Facebook... friends as well as people I hadn’t met before at the gallery yesterday. It is so good to see my work hung rather than hidden in boxes. Thrilled that they are being appreciated and delighted that several are going to permanent homes. Thank you for your support. If you are near Toorak pop in and have a look. All details are on the invitation which you can download from my website - exhibitions. See www.joreitzeartist.com.au Hope to see you too. 23.01.2022 Last weekend I was fortunate to receive 2nd Prize for Drawing at Ocean Grove Rotary Art Show. For years I have painted these resilient windswept trees at the beach but have only recently drawn them. These have been done from photographs and my paintings. This enables me to work at night. This is the first time I have received an award for drawing though my garden drawings have been shortlisted for major awards. Cheers Jo

18.01.2022 I completed this gouache painting in our back garden early on in isolation when we had glorious autumnal weather. This is my usual practice to work en plein air. Stay well! Cheers Jo

16.01.2022 I invite you and your friends to my upcoming exhibition CELEBRATING LIFE in SMALL WORKS. This exhibition is a prelude to an exhibition of my larger works in July at The Victorian Artists Society Galleries. The first exhibition includes my small gouache flower and garden studies as well as paintings of the Barwon River at Ocean Grove or the Bay as well as some completed overseas. Works are often parts of series or pairs and are framed alike. There are also a few pen drawings ...and some miniature paintings in an antique display cabinet. The exhibition is being held at Kinross Arts Centre at the rear of Toorak Uniting Church. The Gallery is in the former Manse, a gracious building with beautiful timber and stained glass. The exhibition runs from 6- 27 Feb on weekdays. The Manse Cafe is in the building and has similar opening hours. I would love you to see this show of affordable works and to catch up! Please invite anyone you think may be interested and share. Thanking you Cheers Jo See more

14.01.2022 I am delighted that this gouache painting, 'Roadside, Mt Eliza' was short listed for the Southern Buoy Studios SBS Landscape Prize 2020. All works have been inspired by the Mornington Peninsula. There are many fine works in diverse styles so am in very good company. It is always a thrill to make the cut for selected exhibitions. You can view the exhibition of all the Finalists and read their statements on this link SBS Landscape Prize 2020 as well as hear the judges comment... on the winning painting. You can also vote in the People's Choice if you wish. 'Roadside Mt Eliza' was painted from my iPad photo I had taken on the way back from collecting my 'Self-Portrait with my painting 2019' which had made the SBS Portrait Prize 2020 earlier in the year. I have rarely worked from photographs in the past but lockdown in winter has necessitated this approach. There is a beautiful catalogue of the show with most works are for sale. Thanks Stay well! 10.01.2022 These are the miniatures that I completed on the kitchen table on wet days in isolation. Am enjoying this period to catch up sort, clean, garden and bake as well as paint. Plenty to do here no fear of becoming bored. Stay well! Cheers Jo

09.01.2022 This is my paintings of St Ouen's Manor, that I completed on our first trip to Jersey in 1988. This is Roger's Ancestral home. I was prompted to post this after seeing the episode of Who do you think you are? on SBS last night. Cameron Daddo has shared de Carteret ancestry and he visited the Manor in the episode. Last night I had over ten texts and phone calls notifying us of the programme and today many more calls. Thank you! You can view the episode on SBS on demand. The programme brought back many happy memories of our times in Jersey. On our last visit Ned's father was still the Seigneur and we had lunch at the Manor with him and his wife. He has since died. I painted another view of the manor on that visit which they acquired. Cheers Jo

07.01.2022 These are painting commissions I received this year. The first shown was an oil of Michelle magnificent oasis garden full of plants colour and texture. The next is a large oil 1x2m of Port Campbell from my client’s series of photographs which I viewed on my iPad and arranged to fit the shape, This one now is in China. The autumn garden was painted in Mont Albert in a pretty garden for a client who had sold her house. Annie’s pretty garden was my last commission for the year a...nd was a gift from her daughter, my former art student at Canterbury Girls S. C. in Italy. The last image of this charming cottage in Surrey Hills was my first commission in 2019. All were painted on location in their gardens. Thank you to all clients. Love doing these as they give me new subjects and it gives a lot of pleasure and immortalizes their gardens. My venture is Jo Reitze paints your garden. See www.joreitzeartist.com.au Go to commission page and view or download Pdf for all details. Cheers Jo See more

06.01.2022 Today I continued painting Annie’s pretty Nunawading garden on a perfect day. Lucy Fekete, a former student of mine at Canterbury Girls’ S C recently asked whether she cools paint my portrait painting in a garden. It was fortuitous that I am currently painting in a garden of a mother of another of my former students. Lucy showed great natural ability from an early age but this doesn’t stop me bathing in reflective glory. She has been a finalist in the prestigious Portia Geach... Award and has a quirky expressive style that verges on caricature combine with great skill and meticulous detail. She made a great start today and will complete in the studio. I have a couple more sessions in the garden before I am finished. Teach at VAS tomorrow morning so hope to get back on Friday if the weather is kind. Enjoyed being a sitter as well as working. I was a moving target and Lucy has captured me at an energetic moment. I look forward to see what she continues to do to me. Thanks Lucy! Cheers Jo See more

03.01.2022 Yesterday I held a gouache workshop in conjunction with my exhibition, ‘Celebrating Life with Small Works at Kinross Arts Centre. It was such a lovely day despite the inclement weather. We worked inside converting the front gallery to a studio for the day. Participants completed these delightful little post cards works. Frames are readily available in this size and I like that students can take home at least one finished work. Now on the tram to teach at VAS studios for my weekly class. Cheers Jo

02.01.2022 Dear Facebook friends, Thanks to all who have seen my exhibition already. Celebrating Life in Small Works runs WEEKDAYS till 27 February. I will be there 10am - 3pm daily as I enjoy catching up with people who make the effort to come along. NB I teach on Thursdays so won’t be there then and Wed, 19 Feb I will be there but may not have time to chat as am leading a workshop. I have sold 20 paintings so far but would love more to have permanent homes rather than returning to bo...xes under beds. Most works range from $40 - $350 so would also make special gifts for friends and family. Kinross Arts Centre is just behind Toorak Uniting Church, if heading to the city on Toorak Rd its spire is a prominent landmark. There is some parking around the back of the church and there is a tram stop at the door. I would love you to see my paintings in this beautiful space which was the former Manse. The Manse Cafe is in the same building and has a selection of paintings as well as delicious offerings for lunch or coffee. I hope to see you there. Cheers Jo See more

02.01.2022 This is the second gouache painting I completed in my back garden early in isolation. The weather was glorious then and perfect for painting ‘en plein air’. Good to be filling a few frames. Stay safe and well! Cheers Jo

02.01.2022 It has been quite a while since I posted on Facebook. I have been painting or drawing most days through lockdown. Having curly hair for the first time in my life prompted another attempt at a self- portrait early in July. My hair is now even wilder without a cut since February. It was an interesting challenge to paint myself reflected in a wardrobe mirror with my painting behind me to fill the background. I regularly post on Instagram if you would like to see all my works as they develop view @joreitzeartist In many ways this period of isolation has been a blessing giving me the opportunity to create more consistently than I have ever been able to do before. Stay well! Cheers Jo C
