01.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS NSW/VIC & SA/VIC Borders relaxing for border community. Federal Court finds 'low or very low' risk to WA if hard border dropped to safe states. NSW / Victorian Border update: NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro told reporters the state government would extend the border zone from 2.5 to 50 kilometres for NSW-Victoria border residents who have permits to enter the northern state. A 100-kilometre exemption will also be added for agriculture workers. The confir...mation by Barilaro comes after the Deputy Premier said the move would give more freedom to those on both sides of the border to work and function as a community. A ‘Southern Borders Recovery Committee’ will be formed to look at the economic and social impacts of the border closure, as well as a recovery package for the tourism industry. SA border Update: SOUTH Australia has reversed its COVID-19 travel restrictions on Victorian border towns, with a 40-kilometre buffer zone for border-crossers to be reinstated by this Friday morning. The current restrictions prompted a strong backlash from Victorian border residents with the announcement of international student arrivals into SA next month. South Australia's Premier, Steven Marshall, announced that his state would reinstate a 40-kilometre travel buffer zone for border communities in Victoria from this Friday. He also announced that travellers arriving in South Australia after transiting through Sydney and Canberra airports would no longer be required to self-quarantine for 14 days, so long as they came from a state where border restrictions were not in place. https://www.smh.com.au//hard-border-one-day-soft-the-next- WA Border Update: Federal Court finds 'low or very low' risk to WA if hard border dropped to safe states https://www.watoday.com.au//federal-court-finds-low-or-ver See more
