25.01.2022 And here is my follow up email if you are interested. Please feel free to write a similar email and please keep sharing this page as something needs to be done about the government and RSPCA laidback attitude to the welfare of horses (especially privately owned horses) in Queensland besides just standing in front of the media and saying words. If the Government is not going to enforce the legislation there is no point having it there.

24.01.2022 A follower of this page, Grace Lula, started a petition a while ago. If you have not already signed it please feel free to do so. The more we can show Mark Furner and Anna P that the community do not consider an animal welfare direction as a suitable resolution in this case the more chance there is of these horses at least being seized. #markfurner #animalcruelty #terryoberle

23.01.2022 Thank you to all who have posted so far and I will respond as soon as I can. In the meantime the owners have arrived this morning to move the truck from the mud and I assume load the horses. Here is a photo of Flagflamenco this morning after being fed hay once a day by Marcus Salomon as per the animal welfare direction since 11 January, being left in a paddock without shelter particularly over the last week in torrential wind and rain and now being cleared to travel since ye...sterday to lord knows where. Please remember the RSPCA and Mark Furner MP consider this as their commitment to protect the welfare of all animals in Queensland!!!! 21.01.2022 Update on the 3 horses that were moved from Charlton to the Lockyer Valley. The person who is caring for them is an experienced and skilled horse person and they have kindly sent me photos showing that the horses are putting on condition already just in the few days that they have been in their care. They have asked that their privacy is respected as they are just trying to help and these 3 horses are currently in good hands.

20.01.2022 The person caring for the 3 horses has advised what the horses are getting fed to put on condition so quickly. So if people are struggling with money to feed their horses or need to pick horses up these 3 horses are on maxisoy, qhm, copra meal and fiberprotect. They mix the 3 grains up in a big bucket and they get 2 800ml scoops of it. The fiberprotect is a lucerne and they get a 2.5 litre scoop of that. They are fed the grain and fiberprotect twice a day. All bags of feed are under $30 a bag.

19.01.2022 Letter sent this morning from Marjorie Pagani from AFARM. The charity who has voluntarily paid for hard feed, hay and lick for these horses since they were discovered. All from North Queensland

16.01.2022 Rebel Prince won his owners over $150,000 in prize money through his racing career. But that wasn't enough to earn him a nice retirement. As with so many unwant...ed race horses, he was discarded, neglected, and tragically found himself at a NSW knackery. Skinny & broken, he was then slaughtered for pet food. 16.01.2022 The 3 horses moved today have ended up near Minden (possibly a foster property) as everything looks ok. The other 5 are still in Charlton but I understand may be leaving later today.

14.01.2022 After starting the day with nothing to report this is my fourth post of the day!! It seems DAF may realise that their animal welfare standards and guidelines do not meet public expectations. Although some might says they need to spend the $4.5 million they received on the back of the racehorse enquiry somewhere to justify they need it and to show that they are doing something. Anyone who wishes to apply for this position the application date closes on 12 March and the website is smartjobs.qld.gov.au. Thank to the person who brought this job ad to my attention.

13.01.2022 GERRY HARVEY BRED HORSE FOUND AMONG THE DEAD AT TOOWOOMBA Bred in 2001 by billionaire entrepreneur Gerry Harvey of Harvey Norman success, her name was Derrycarn...a. She is among the thirty plus horses whose bodies remain rotting at the property in Toowoomba. Today, CPR and Animal Liberation Queensland investigators confirmed the mare to be yet another registered racehorse, bringing the running tally of known racehorses to have starved to death at the property to six. Used by Harvey for breeding, Derrycarna foaled six lives over seven years before being placed into the hands of Mr R Lynch. Here she was used to breed two more foals before eventually ending up at the haunting Toowoomba property and succumbing to her horrific fate. One of Derrycarna’s foals, bred by Gerry Harvey, earned almost $1.8 million, mostly after being exported to Hong Kong. As you can see, even producing a winning horse of almost $2 million in prizemoney and being bred by one of Australia’s richest men, currently worth $1.6 BILLION does not protect you from being left to starve to death in a paddock. Derrycarna's body was found half way up the hill, a long way from all the other deceased souls, alone. RIP Derrycarna. 11.01.2022 Hi everyone. There has been an incredible amount of votes and less than 23 hours to go. If you haven’t voted please do so and please make sure you click the correct button as many people accidentally incorrectly voted. Once the poll has closed I shall share the result with the government to confirm that they have not met 86% (currently) of people’s expectations and have miserably failed in their own objectives.

10.01.2022 Flagflamenco, the little grey filly and the most neglected chestnut filly have been loaded on the truck and are currently heading east towards Brisbane. Apparently the Dept of Agriculture has also given permission for the other 5 to be transported to Terry Oberle’s property in NQ. If anyone knows where this is please feel free to pass on that information. #markfurner #RSPCA

10.01.2022 I have no further updates in relation to the 8 recovering horses but if you are interested I have attached the original Magistrate Court verdict dated 23 February 2006 against Terry Oberle in his previous case of 4 counts of breaching his duty of care to animals. Terry appealed this conviction and there is a previous post on this page of the Appeal transcript. Terry was not successful in his appeal. Mark Furner’s office, DAF, have again advised me that the current Government is committed to providing standards for the welfare of animals and meeting community expectations. I am not sure what community they are referring to but it quite clearly isn’t the community that have expressed outrage on this page.

09.01.2022 How incredible do the 3 horses look after 3 weeks TLC!!!!! A huge well done to the person currently caring for them who sent me the photos this afternoon. They have asked if people can stop driving passed and respect their privacy as they are only trying to help these horses and we can see the awesome job they are doing.

07.01.2022 The remaining 5 horses left the property with Terry Oberle this morning. Apparently he is stopping in Biloela and then heading to Terry’s property in North Queensland. It is believed this is somewhere in the Marlborough or Sarina area. If you know anyone in these areas can you please ask them to keep an eye out particularly tonight in Biloela to make sure they have been unloaded as although a volunteer gave them some hay before they left I assume they will not have access to food and water during the course of today’s journey.

06.01.2022 The eight surviving horses which the RSPCA, Dept of Agricultural and Biosecurity say are too weak to move were supposed to be moved today to lord knows where but the truck became bogged. Eight malnourished and weak horses are going to be transported by their owner, Terry Oberle, in an open top cattle truck (photo below) I assume without restraint to lord knows where. The not so honourable Mark Furner MP (Minister for Agriculture) you are a disgrace. Yourself and Hinchcliffe g...ave a media statement earlier in the week that you care about the welfare and protection of retired racehorses and $6 million extra is being given to this cause ($4.8 million back to your department and $1.2 to the Racing Integrity Commission) well the Government should keep your department’s share as you and your inspectors are not currently using the powers you have under the Act to protect the welfare of the 7 dead ex racehorses and the 1 surviving TB mare, Flagflamenco (photo below) at Charlton, QLD not to mention the other 15 dead horses and 7 surviving horses. This case is absolutely heartbreaking and made even worse by the fact that the department and organisations that the community should have confidence in appear to think 22 dead horses and 8 seriously neglected horses is not an issue to warrant serious action. #markfurnerMP #RSPCA

06.01.2022 A huge thank you to the two ladies (you know who you are) who attended the property to observe these horses being moved and identify the new location of the 3 horses moved yesterday. I may have been unable to convince Mark Furner MP to seize these horses but seriously something needs to change. Thank you to everyone who is following this page and I’m hoping this is only the first step so further updates on the horses (if possible) and steps to change the huge lack of enthusia...sm of Mark Furner, Anna P and the RSPCA to do anything other than educate people or issue animal welfare directions (again if any as I suspect this will take either a miracle or a possible change of government) will also be posted. This is all new to me. I am not a charity, I have no hidden agenda I am just someone who read the same FB posts as you all over the New Year and could not sit back and let this go. 01.01.2022 Updates on these horses will be posted. It is hoped we will know where this truck goes but if anyone sees it on the road or arrive at a property please let me know. The horses and truck are still at the current property but I will post an update if they move today.
