20.01.2022 Today I listened to a fascinating zoom talk on Healing Nature, held as part of National Science Week 2020. The panel (consisting of scientists, artists and experts) discussed the question "Does Nature have an impact on our wellbeing? They explored the relationship between an individual and their surroundings and the role nature plays in human physical, mental and emotional health. And as you can imagine, it certainly does! ... When we are in nature, they specifically said our... creativity increases stress decreases anxiety decreases working memory increases we think more clearly has positive effect rumination decreases and we are in the moment. All of the above is as a whole body expression... and nature restores our mind and body. And scientifically they can find biomarkers of this restorative experience During this lockdown I have found that going for a little walk definitely has me feeling better by the time I get back home. I also like to take my camera and find that focusing in (through the lens) on the little details around me helps me be in the moment, and is almost like a circuit breaker from what we are all going through at the moment. They also said on the talk that if it is difficult to get into nature, then having plants or images of nature in your home is beneficial too. (sooooo I'm thinking maybe I should get some more plant babies ) (** thanks Leonie Fewster for tagging me in the event!!) 13.01.2022 What do you get when you cross a new little puppy, a photographer and the last day of Melbourne lockdown? Little Ginger has grown so much in the last 3 weeks and is even more of a little ball of fluffy, chewing, jumping, cuddly, playful puppy energy!!!!... Special thanks to all the people and local businesses who have helped us so far. Seddon Vet Hospital Dr. Russell was super helpful and great with Ginger receiving her vaccination and giving us great puppy advice Loose Lead Pets Jasmine is the best! Taught us so much with online puppy school - now I just have to teach Ginger :-) Also so many great products in their online shop. 07.01.2022 So there’s been big smiles here since Sunday and finding out that we as photographers are able to start shooting again in our great outdoors!! It’s been a tough time for so many people and businesses, and I’m so proud and grateful that we are getting closer to being a safe state where we can live, work and enjoy life again. Still a little way to go .. but we’ll get there.
