Make sure you have checked all of your mail from the past week, and if your registered electoral address is your parents home - be sure to ask if your ballot pack is with them! ... Also, if youre more senior than 70, you are still entitled to vote :) Just get that voting paper into the mail before 21 October. #easiestwaytosave78bones #nevertooold #vote1Armstrong #ararat2016 #araratruralcitycouncil #araratactive

22.01.2022 Oh my goodness, that wind was wild last night! I hope you and yours are safe and sound. Heres another fun fact to blow you away (see what I did there? cue collective groan from my kids). The role bit is a no-brainer. The objective bit is where opinions can vary just remember how lucky we are to live in a democratic society where we all have the right to exercise our vote to choose the people who will make up our Council: Q. What is Councils role and objective? A. - To ad...vocate and lead on behalf of the community in the many spheres that affect community members lives. - Councils primary objective is to achieve the best outcomes for their community while considering the long-term and cumulative effects of those decisions. 19.01.2022 Great initiative by the ARBA, I look forward to participating and hearing what each of the other 12 council candidates have to say next Tuesday night.

17.01.2022 This is Henry Burridge. He is highly efficient. Henry will bring great value to our Council, coming from a really solid background in strategic planning, policy and compliance, and financial management. His first-hand experience of running small businesses enhances his appreciation of what strategic economic development can bring to Ararat Rural City. Henry has thoroughly researched what is required of a good councillor and has a sound understanding of the teamwork that is required from the Council chamber to achieve the best outcomes for our municipality. He gets stuff done. #wegetwhowevotefor #skillsandexperience #lovewhereyoulive #integrity #stability #opportunity

16.01.2022 For those of you whose ballot papers havent arrived yet in the mail, here is my Candidate Statement: "I am passionate about community. Local for 26 years, I live on our Yalla-Y-Poora sheep and grain farm with my husband Pete, raising one daughter and three sons. My vision is a vibrant future for this generation and beyond, balanced by economic sustainability. I want a wise Council to improve and maintain assets and infrastructure for people across our region to live, work ...and play in safety. Our road network is vital to our primary industry of food production and its secondary services. I have been Secretary of Tatyoon Football Netball Club for five years merging netball and football, and a delegate for Tatyoon Recreation Reserve. I have held executive roles at Willaura and Lake Bolac & District Kindergartens, Tatyoon Red Cross, and YYP Community Centre. I have worked for a district council and small business whilst at university in NZ, a multi-national media company in the UK, the Victorian state government, and administration at St Marys Primary School Ararat managing payroll, accounts and financial reporting including budgeting and audits. I will bring strategic and critical thinking to Council. I am privileged to have this opportunity to be your advocate and make a positive difference to Ararat Rural City." Phew! 200 word limit satisfied :) #vote1Armstrong #araratruralcitycouncil #ararat2016 #araratactive @Ararat Active #keepingtheVEChappy

16.01.2022 The waiting game. Declaration flaps have been separated, ballot papers extracted, and today the VEC staff are scheduled to begin sorting obvious informal votes. Late mail will be similarly processed on Friday so that eventually, the 9000-ish votes are batched ready for data entry by the VEC into computers in Ballarat. The official Calculation of Results will happen back in Ararat at the Electoral Office at 7pm on Saturday October.... #3moresleeps #hopeyoumadeyourvotecount #ararat2016 #araratruralcitycouncil #araratactive

14.01.2022 Its not too late to vote, people! You still have a (very small) window of opportunity to get your ballot paper in before TODAYS DEADLINE. You can deliver your ballot paper by hand to the Ararat Election Office which is at the Visitor Information Centre at the Ararat Railway Station. Or, you can mail your ballot paper at your nearest post office IF you make it before the close of post today. #yourchoice #save78bones #vote1Armstrong #ararat2016 #araratruracitycouncil #araratactive

He recognises we have opportunities to build relationships so that we can grow and thrive across our whole community now and well into the future. Rob has worked hard for personal success in primary production, value-adding, and project management. He will apply the same drive to deliver positive outcomes for the people who live, work and play here. 12.01.2022 Postal. Preferences. Proportional. - This is a postal election. Ballot packs are posted out to all enrolled voters between Tuesday and Thursday this week. Who knows when yours will land in the mailbox! Follow the instructions in the ballot pack so that your completed ballot material is in the mail or hand-delivered to the election office by 6.00 pm on Friday 21 October. - I have chosen to stand as a fully independent candidate. In past elections, the ballot packs included ...indication of preferences details from each candidate - but not any more. Candidates may choose to announce a recommendation of preferences with one or more others via their candidate statement or other means, having gained the express permission of the named other(s). You can read a each candidates statement in the ballot pack when it arrives in the mail, or download it here: https://www.vec.vic.gov.au//WEB%20-%20Ararat%20-%20Unsubdi - The proportional representation counting system applies to Ararat Rural City Council because it is an unsubdivided council (no wards). Candidates are elected in proportion to the number of votes they receive. This doesnt require a candidate to obtain an absolute majority of votes to be elected. What it does mean is that the order of your votes, 1 to 13, is very, very important! The quota for Ararat Rural CC is again expected to be around 1000 votes (the official amount will be confirmed by the elections returning officer as one eighth of all formal votes when counted). Click https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/Electi/ProportionalCounting.html to get your head around the quota and allocation of surplus votes. 07.01.2022 So. Much. Rain. I cannot recall another winter/spring quite like this, just when we thought our municipality couldnt be any more waterlogged. 16 days ago Dominique Sparks of Balancing Rock Photography rearranged her day and waited patiently for the creek crossing on our road to subside until it was safe for me to leave the farm. I journeyed across Fiery Creek and Hopkins River country taking three times longer than it would usually; roads seemed to be flooded wherever I went. Eventually, I arrived at Dominiques Maroona studio and she took the photos I have used for my campaign here at Jo Armstrong for Ararat Rural CC. Thanks heaps Dom! #loveyawork #matchmylidwithyournumberonevote #vote1armstrong #ararat2016 #araratruralcitycouncil

05.01.2022 Celebrate good times! What a weekend. Friday night with the wonderful extended family of Tatyoon FNC celebrating our best and most inspiring, followed by a Saturday arvo party in a paddock with the awesome Mellow in the Yellow crew raising funds for the National Centre for Farmer Health. Both events were proof of people who have the passion to make things happen. Great results can be achieved by people working together with a shared goal for success. Put simply, community :) #loveyawork #teamworkisthethingthatcounts #mity16 #vote1Armstrong #ararat2016 #araratruralcitycouncil #araratactive

02.01.2022 Too much rain vs. not enough. Wheres the happy middle? My goal is to contribute towards Council achieving and maintaining a balance. - Expenditure must be balanced with income. - Importantly, I give consideration to issues from the short term through to the long term. - We need strategic thinking to make the most of opportunities for our residents and local businesses, the young and elderly, the able and the less capable. ... - These are issues within our control unlike the rain. Exercise your voice through your ballot paper and make your vote count this month, and please, vote 1 Armstrong so I can weigh up the pros and cons with you in mind! #raindropskeepfallingonmyhead #vote1Armstrong #ararat2016 #araratruralcitycouncil #AraratActive See more
