25.01.2022 Oh this is so true!!!

25.01.2022 My front yard has some serious winter overgrowth going on, but I still never get sick of this view.

22.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and father figures doing their best to help their children thrive. I mostly work with mums, but I see the dads too. I see them trying to find their place in their new family.... I see them working hard to support their partners. I see them asking questions, making mistakes and trying to get it right. Mothers thrive when their partners support them.... and so do fathers. Happy Fathers Day!

18.01.2022 After 20 years of being a mum, I am finally starting to really get this and be ok with it all. Where are you at?

18.01.2022 Have you heard all of these too? How do you deal with it?

17.01.2022 There was a lot of discussion around children mouth breathing here yesterday, so I thought Id share another resource. If youre in Perth, Pip from Physio2Breathe is brilliant to help retrain your child to nose breathe.

17.01.2022 I am very excited to be a part of this amazing initiative. Supporting new mums is something I am so very passionate about. Having struggled with postnatal depression, I understand the importance of the right support and education so that we as mothers can feel empowered to make choices for our own health and wellbeing. If youre planning a baby, are currently pregnant or have just welcomed your little one, then this is for you!

16.01.2022 Now some might see weeds.... but Im choosing to see a playground! We can easily fall into the trap of seeing things in a negative way. But just a slight change of perspective can change your whole day! What things in your day could use a change of perspective?

13.01.2022 This is motherhood!

11.01.2022 What is your legacy?

10.01.2022 Does your child breathe through their mouth of their nose? More than 50% of children breathe through their mouths and this can cause problems with the development of their facial structure, teeth and upper airways. You may have noticed your child snoring at night.... and maybe they take a while to wake in the morning and are tired and grumpy. When they mouth breathe, they are getting less oxygen to their brain and this can affect their cognitive ability, learning and ...behaviour. So what can you do? Firsty, I recommend you have them checked out by a paediatric dentist. Check in with a qualified health practitioner to assess any food allergies or intoerlances that could be causing congestion. 10.01.2022 Thank you to Frankie from Additive Free Kids for putting this together. Can you sign and share too?

10.01.2022 A great opportunity for parents who need help with baby sleep!

10.01.2022 Women denied access to showed and water immersion at some maternity hospitals. Can you sign the petition?

09.01.2022 I dont love exercise. The idea of going to a gym has never appealed to me. I did a boot camp for a while with a friend and while I felt great afterwards, I had to drag myself there every time. But nature fills me up. When I was in the depths of postnatal depression, nature was what kept me safe.... It held me. Everything seems light when Im in nature. My mind is clearer, I am able to stop the persistent thoughts that Im not enough. These thoughts are not so persistent these days, but nature still softens the blow of a hard day. Walking with my buddy Harvey is a joy. Seeing the world through his excited eyes (and sniffs!!). Do you spend time in nature? How does it feel for you? #nutritionist #nature #bushwalks #perthhills #thankful #postnataldepression

09.01.2022 A great share from @_happyasamother on why we might be triggered when our child wont sleep. A roof reminder to check in with whats happening for yourself....

08.01.2022 When I teach my program in introducing solids, I recommend the introduction of whole foods as opposed to prepackaged baby foods. I understand that this is not always possible, but at the very least, I aim to provide education what is in these foods so you can make an informed choice about what you feed your family. I highly recommend joining Frankie from Additive Free Kids newsletter and joining her Facebook group Additive Free Kids Community to stay up to date on whats in our food.

07.01.2022 Again..... a womans body is a marvel!

06.01.2022 When a child is growing in the mothers womb its teeth are developing. Problems with a young childs teeth is stressful for the whole family. The tiny newborn u...ses minerals and nutrients from the mother to create enamel and root structure of their teeth. Health issues in the child and mother can disrupt this process. Antibiotic use during pregnancy are known to be one of these factors. But today many children are showing enamel defects. Enamel hypoplasia is a defect of the enamel that only occurs while teeth are still developing. Still, it can affect both baby teeth and permanent teeth. The condition results in thin enamel, which makes your teeth vulnerable to dental decay. Previous studies into causes of enamel defects in young children have failed to show a connection between gestational diabetes and childhood tooth development. Today diagnosed Gestational diabetes affects up to 10% of pregnancies every year. While blood sugar levels will usually return to normal after your baby is born, there is now more data on what this raised blood sugar can do to a developing child. Several studies suggest that maternal health conditions, particularly hyperglycemia during pregnancy, can alter fetal development to affect organ formation and increase the risk of diseases however, the effects of maternal diabetes on tooth development and the associated underlying mechanisms have not been thoroughly investigated. In a 2019 study: Prenatal exposure to gestational diabetes mellitus increases developmental defects in the enamel of offspring the connection was explored. Mothers with gestational diabetes were independently associated with adverse effects of enamel defects on offspring. The most common types of defects were demarcated opacities (white markings on teeth). The authors concluded that their study paves the way to further study the effect of maternal blood sugar on childhood development. Considering what we know about sugar how it affects nutrients, minerals, and the insulin hormone we cant discount the simple carbohydrate intake can affect the growth of an unborn child. Did you experience blood sugar issues in pregnancy? Did you crave sweets?

05.01.2022 This is why cuddling your baby is so very important. Cuddling at any age really!

04.01.2022 Another Q&A done in the ‘Get it Right From Their First Bite’ group. This is part of my introducing solids program - a private group where you can ask all your questions about how to feed your baby. From when to start, what foods to give when, and even - can my baby eat banana peels - I’ve got you covered! ... I love the community we’ve created in this program. While I jump in and answer questions every week, all the mums in the group support each other all the time. One of my goals with this program was to create a safe space for mums to share their challenges and wins and to feel heard. I think we’ve achieved this! I will be opening the doors of the ‘Get it Right From Their First Bite’ program again very soon, so stay tuned for more info on that!

02.01.2022 When I was struggling with postnatal depression, I didnt know how to start a conversation about it. Even with the people I was closest to. So others who may be struggling might find it too challenging to ask for help. Do you have people on your life who you think might need a should to cry on. Or a gentle hug or a cup of tea?... Have you noticed things that are out of character for someone. Or maybe someone you used to see regularly hasnt been around for a while. These might all be signs theyre struggling, so reach out to them.

02.01.2022 Some lovely ways to repair with a child. Such a good lesson to teach - were all human!

02.01.2022 I am so very proud to be a part of this. If youre planning a baby, are pregnant of have recently welcomed your baby to the world, dont miss this!!

02.01.2022 This doggo is the sweetest! He just wants to be friends with everyone - including this magpie!

01.01.2022 Dad's often get overlooked in their role, but they're important too! I love this image <3

01.01.2022 Afternoon creek plays.... after a rough day at school, we decided we needed some nature time. We always feel better when were out in nature - do you?
