20.01.2022 A beautiful photo of Danielle Rollings and her lovely young Stock Horse gelding Leroy. They competed at their first competition together on the weekend at the Wangaratta Pony Club Dressage Championships. Danielle was delighted to place second and third in the Open Grade 5 tests and then be awarded Reserve Champion. They have both been making lots of progress in their training recently and Danielle was very happy that Leroy was so impeccably behaved at his first competition. Congratulations Danielle and Leroy

20.01.2022 A successful weekend of competition for these two ladies.... Jacqui Melbourne and her beautiful horse Farraday (aka Will) have been working hard over the past 6 months to make the step up to Elementary level in competition. In training Jacqui has been focusing on improving Will's suppleness and throughness which has helped him develop more confidence and ease in his work. They had their first Elementary start at Young Dressage Association's competition on Sunday, rode a very ...consistent test and were rewarded for all of their hard work with a 1st placing. They also showed some great work in their Novice test placing 3rd in good company and with a great score. Jacqui was very pleased to receive very positive comments from both judges on how Will's training is progressing. Anne McMahon took her lovely young Andalusian mare Lola, to her first ever dressage competition at Yackandandah Riding Club on Sunday. Lola has such an incredibly willing nature which always makes her an absolute delight to work with. They performed two very consistent Level 4 tests acheiving excellent scores above 70% and were rewarded with a 1st and 4th placing. Most excitingly, they were awarded the elusive mark of 10 for one of their halts! Congratulations Jacqui and Anne

19.01.2022 Talented young rider Lauren Barrette and her beautiful mare Molly enjoying their lesson at the Albury Wodonga Adult Riding Club rally yesterday. Lauren and Molly have been progressing in leaps and bounds recently with Lauren really focusing on improving Molly's straightness and uphill balance. They were rewarded for all of their hard work recently when they placed 3rd in their first HRCAV Level 4 test with a wonderful score of 73.8%. Lauren was most delighted to receive such positive comments from the judges. Well done Lauren and Molly!

16.01.2022 So beautiful I had to share Consistent rhythm and tempo, supple and relaxed, elastic and confident contact, energetic, expressive and fluent, absolutely straight, uphill, light, balanced and so much harmony between horse and rider....hard to imagine they could be performed much better

15.01.2022 THE CENTRELINE AND HALT The first movement of every dressage test, the first opportunity to attain 10 marks and to make a good first impression on the judges. For a judge, a well ridden centreline is like reading an exciting opening sentence of a good book.it makes you look forward to what is coming next....Continue reading

13.01.2022 This photo is one of my favourites from my riding career and there is a very special experience behind it that I thought I would share The photo was taken at the 2006 Australian Dressage Championships held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. This was my first time competing at this beautiful venue. Echo and I had qualified for the Intermediate 1....our favourite level that we were very consolidated at. Echo had just turned 16, we had been a partnership for 11 year...Continue reading

11.01.2022 A lovely photo of young rider Abbey McIntosh and her beautiful Welsh x Warmblood mare Brookside Dixie, taken while competing at Albury last weekend. Abbey and Dixie have recently made the step up to Elementary and this was their first official competition at this level. They had a very successful day placing in both of their tests and receiving a great score in their second test. A wonderful reward for all of their hard work and improvement over the past 12 months. A very bright future ahead for this talented pair. Well done Abbey and Dixie, I am very proud of you both

09.01.2022 An excellent training tip from fellow rider, coach and judge Nicole Tough, on the importance of correctly preparing for movements. I like to think of every movement as a sentence, always start it with a capital letter and finish it with a full stop. Deliberate practice in your training at home will set you up to ride movements successfully in competition

06.01.2022 Anne McMahon had a very successful first round of Yackandandah Riding Club's Saddleworld Shield competition held last Sunday. Much to her surprise, she placed 1st in Level 2 with her beautiful Friesian x Stock Horse mare Chiara, in strong company and with a great score over 72%. She also placed 4th in Level 4 with her other wonderful Andalusian mare Lola, achieving another great score over 70%. A lovely result for Anne who is very dedicated and works very hard with both of her special girls. Well done Anne

04.01.2022 Will and Bunyip enjoying a catch up between their lessons today

03.01.2022 Heading home after an amazing week judging some of Australia's best horses and riders at Willinga Park's Dressage By The Sea 2021. For anyone who hasn't visited this incredible venue I highly recommend making the trek over to see it. International riders and judges say it is the best venue in the world. As officials we were impeccably looked after as always by the Willinga Park team and there was an incredibly friendly and inclusive atmosphere with riders and officials all be...ing accommodated at the property this year. I was very fortunate to judge many FEI tests throughout the two shows and it was great to see lots of combinations make improvements in their performances. A big highlight for me was being appointed as one of the five judges to judge the Grand Prix Freestyle along with three of my mentors who are also Australia's FEI 5* judges. The quality of the freestyles was excellent with the top 5 acheiving scores of over 70%. All had inventive and difficult coreography and super music. Of course it was very exciting to award the winners Olympian Mary Hanna and her stunning mare Syrianna an overall score of 78.32% for their new Australian themed freestyle. Owner of Willinga Park Terry Snow, is a great supporter of our sport and has a keen interest in helping our talented young riders develop into international quality riders like Mary which is wonderful. Already looking forward to Dressage By The Sea 2022!! See more

02.01.2022 Talented young rider Annie Creed has made a very successful return to competition with her wonderful Welsh x Warmblood gelding Brookside Dakoda. In recent weeks, they were awarded Pony Club Advanced Champion at Numurkah, North Eastern Zone and Wangaratta Dressage Championships after producing consistent tests with great scores. During the lockdown period Annie has worked very hard to improve Dakka's activity and engagement which is developing his uphill tendency and self car...riage required for the higher levels. She has also worked diligently to improve his lateral suppleness and bend and as a result Dakka is now finding the lateral work much easier. Annie has also started successfully competing her exciting young pony Brookside Shazam winning Grade 3 Champion at their last outing. Not only successful in the dressage arena Annie also breaks in numerous ponies and trains them beautifully for their owners. Annie is an extremely dedicated, passionate and focused young rider and is a wonderful role model for many other upcoming young riders who know her. I am very excited for Annie as she progresses on her journey with Dakka and for her future in the sport

01.01.2022 A wonderful few days at PSI DJWTS 2021 in the most stunning weather I have ever experienced in all my years of travelling to Werribee for events! I was very fortunate to have a great variety of classes to judge at this years event....the Prix St Georges Cup, the Eventing Young Horse Championship along side Australian eventing legend Wayne Roycroft who judged the jumping phase, 4YO Young Horses and Ponies, Performance Ponies and always a highlight, the Grand Prix Freestyle. Th...ere were many super performances across all classes and some being of international quality which is very exciting. A special part of the show for me this year was being there to support young rider Annie Creed while she competed her stunning pony Brookside Shazam in the Australian Young Dressage Pony 5YO Championship. They had a very convincing win in round one with an outstanding score of 83.20% the judges being very impressed with Shazam's quality. In the second round they placed 2nd by the narrowest of margins with another impressive score of 83.80% the judges awarding them a 9 for walk and a 9 for trot. This placed them 2nd in the Championship overall. Shazam certainly took the big occasion all in her stride being quite unfazed about the big atmosphere in the indoor arena. Annie beautifully guided her through both tests showing the judges her correct, harmonious way of training and Shazam's exciting potential as a future high level dressage pony. Huge congratulations to Annie, it is such an outstanding achievement especially given she only commenced Shazam's training 12 months ago
