Sam has not gone for one week without exercising throughout her whole pregnancy Sam works full time , they also have a daughter who turned 3 years old last week ... So with all this going on Sam has stayed committed with x2 45 minute Pt sessions every single week and is looking fantastic. .. 20.01.2022 Big well done to my client Jaci Brand who today conquered the Brisbane Marathon Virtual race. With No big crowds on course to cheer her own yet still Jaci smashed 17 minutes off her marathon time with a sub 5 hr run with a 4 hr 58 mins . Extremely proud and in awe of her success. ... Covid - 19 has brought many a lack of motivation and a bag of excuses , mental health issues and we r here to support one another through the hard times . This is something personally iv done only very little of yet theres so many different ways to journal its really new to me too . . One simple method I learnt from my great coach Doug Hawkins was to re - write my day , I dont go into this one below as there is so many .. but its very effective .. one for another time.... Been new to me Iv been looking at a few different ways that are the more beginner ways to introduce writing and journaling below and wanted to share with you too 1. Start with Sentence stems * Right now, I notice ____. * When I am at my best, I am normally feeling or doing ______. * I feel confident when _____. * My greatest source of pride is ______. * One of the things that I have overcome that makes me the person I am today is ______. 2. Timed writing Focus on a certain topic or problem, or to an area of gratitude you want to express Start with 5 minutes and build to 7 then 10 minutes. The shorter the more contained 3. Making a list like brain storming .. list 20 or 40 *Things you are grateful for *Places you would like to visit or places you have *Favourite memories so far *Those you love & value or those that love & value you *Your strengths *Your life achievements to date .............................................................................. Then the evening time you can relax, spend time with family or exercise / hobbies/ reading you enjoy . Keep your life balance Spending a few minutes at night reflecting on your day - empty your mind of thoughts from the day what’s happened without judg...ement to help clear your mind. Then write a bit about your vision for the following day ahead. Re write your perfect day if you need to Some must do’s for a good morning routine Make your bed. This is the easiest and most productive task you can do to start your morning. Making your bed will give you a sense of achievement and have you ready for the next task. Affirmations to manifest your dreams . With great self belief and meaning say out loud In the mirror before you do anything , affirming who you are with Positive statements and self talk in the present tense I AM . Drink a Full Glass of Water. You may be tempted to go straight to the coffee, but drinking a full glass of water will wake up your brain, stimulate your metabolism, revitalise your energy, and help you to feel more positive and prepared for the day ahead Go for a walk. Exercise is not just important for weight loss. Going for a morning walk can also help to kickstart your metabolism and have you ready to roll when it comes to energy and been out amongst nature and the fresh air gives your mood a great boost . Set Your Intention. Align your thoughts and attitude for the day ahead. Getting clear on your intention to help guide your actions throughout the day. Please DO NOT attend training if you have any of the COVID -19 signs and symptoms ~ Have you had or been in contact with anyone with any of the following symptoms in the past 14 days- fever, dry cough , extreme tiredness, difficulty breathing , chest pain or pressure , loss of speech or movement ?... Have you been in contact with a person with a confirmed case of covid - 19 ? Have you been to any of the local places (picture below) on those dates ? Please stay home if so and get tested . Reminders and few changes please take NOTE I would like all clients to please now bring own sanitiser sanitising your hands here on the premises before and after your session. *Instead of hand washing* I will also order sanitiser ASAP but I need to get my order in for the large commercial size ones reminder - PLS continue to Bring your own fitness mat and large towel. As your trainer I will continue to wipe down with disinfectant spray all equipment that has been used. And manage my own health as you are above with any symptoms from now .. Please wait outside until client before you finishes and has left . This will be my duty as a trainer to keep on track with session times starting and finishing on time I will be working to put in a 5 or 10 minute gap between , this will be there purely to keep on top of wiping down and minimal cross overs of clients . 16.01.2022 For those who receive my FREE newsletter you will see it was a lot on weight loss this month . Why ? Because the majority of my clients , friends and family ( including myself had gained some excess body weight.. (not the good kind lol ) during covid and its seems many are on a similar path now so its road to recovery .. I have enjoyed each n every bit but now time to get back into jeans n dresses ... If youre trying to lose weight, dont overwhelm yourself and confuse yourself with the science and the contradictions of one persons method to anothers AS YOU KNOW its quite simple you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. Some do this by tracking all calories /macros they eat and weighing and matching it against the calories they expend. Calories In, Calories Out Which makes sense . You may also be on higher calorie days to give you the energy and protein you need to fuel , have a strong workout build muscle which in return will help you burn fat . However it seems many do NOT know what there eating yet do NOT want to go to tracking and weighing at all ever . If this is you .. and hands up have no idea what you are consuming and DO NOT wish to off load the job to a personalised nutritionist food plan then you DO need to get self- educated and do a bit of graft to get some basics in your tool box to get the results ( or stop moaning ) As a Pt I highly suggest weighing and tracking for a period of time and taking mental notes of what was in each meal . Within months you can move onto guesstimating it and portion size control way of dieting and food journaling But if you have no idea now what you consume to get to a point of nice simple guesstimating and portion size controlling ( journaling if u wish in a note book ) YOU have to DO to do the ground work first !!!! 16.01.2022 Food preparation Whether youre packing lunch for yourself or dinners for the whole family , try these tips to get it done faster. Its basically your usual daily cooking you would do but instead make more and a variety all in one day to save you time through the week , its just a little bit of planning , food storage containers, and a few dedicated hours . ... 1. Make time to plan Spending time to plan out your meals will help you keep your nutrition healthy on your busy days , it minimises thinking about what to have for lunch or dinner each day. Weekends are ideal for meal planning with the extra time, you can plan it out , shop for it and cook it in one go. 2. Save time with batch cooking Batch cooking requires a little time upfront, but time and freedom it returns to you later to do other things is great . Simply cooking up large quantities of a few dishes that can then be portioned and frozen to be used over weeks 3. Balance it out If you are working towards a goal and nutrition is to be on point balance your batch cooking with the correct portions / calories or macros Or for bigger kids just a big pan or bake of something they can easy dish up themselves in the fridge ~ bolognaise, curry, pasta . 4. Plan for disruptions When it comes to meal prep, it wont always go according to your plan . working late, sick kids , a spontaneous night out to attend, and you just cant make the meal planned. Life doesnt follow a specific path, and you need to be flexible Expect to have some of your plans disrupted and a back up , tinned tuna and salad , beans on toast 5. Prep healthy go to snacks Healthy snacks on stand by are great to keep in the fridge - protein balls , boiled eggs , cut up fruit snack bags Excuses for lack of time to eat fast food isnt really valid . Going through the MacDonalds drive through on your way home takes as long as opening a tin of beans at home . If you are not heading home picking up a healthier subway , fruit , protein bar can all be a go to instead Certainlynot saying eating fast food should be forbidden . 12.01.2022 Great to see I have had a good number of clients setting themselves this little challenge also this week . Keep us all motivated and share your progress Soooo another week and I’m sharing mine chin ups are increasing nicely in reps AND range yissss ! ... Going from assisted machine dropping the weight gradually (and at home with 2 bands to 1 band) So I’m pretty pleased The Reps and Range will continue to improve as they already are doing (There a damn sight harder for me without the assistant support and still very effective) The primary benefits of the chin-up are increasing strength and definition of the upper arms, specifically the biceps, the rear deltoids and the teres major and latissimus dorsi ( lat) muscles of the back. So for full activation I just need to work on pull up from the hang to rly activate the Lats for more V shape I continue to use bands for my full range to really engage the lats and while I’m non weight bearing inc seated exercises biceps curls lat pull down etc Always remember Let know one discourage yourself ambitious attitude u don’t need a fan club to achieve your goals Be your own motivation Lead the way in you doing you , inspire others along yr journey Something that’s a strong part for me is self belief and confidence iv no fear in trying or failing ! .. 12.01.2022 Are you OK ? During COVID~19 You might feel confused and be asking yourself am I depressed? Should I see someone? Is this just COVID-19 blues (situational depression) or one of the many types clinical depression ( see poster below ) ... If your depression was pre COVID-19 and is getting worse now, then definitely talk to someone as soon as you can. As this situation on top can make it much harder. If symptoms are new and emerged post COVID-19 this points to it been situational However whether it is situational or more persistent , this isnt to say that one kind of depression is more important than the other and talking will always help . Theres no shame in needing someone right now. This isnt an ordinary situation we are in and as humans we arent great at coping with long-term, stressful, isolating situations, and ones we cant do much about. This pandemic isnt going to last forever, but it can definitely feel that way some days. 09.01.2022 Iv been heading to the ME 24hr Fitness (Springfield) outdoor gym at 9am to get my own training in this week straight from my morning shift in the park . So have had to be super organised as I leave home before 5am every day with making sure Oscars sorted for school , pre workout breakfast , aminos and my Le-vel pure caffeine shot for a Gud kick (of course ha) So Most days since gym re opened breakfast has just been a banana n a protein shake . ... What are things that you really love about yourself and your life? Not many find it easy to say they love themselves or positive attributes to list, but the greater your capacity to love yourself , the easier it is to love others. What work, activities or hobbies are you good at ? On the con side, write down the things about yourself that, if you could youd change 2. Ask effective questions. With your list from step 1 , start asking yourself questions: * Why is this important to me? * What price am I willing to pay to change this? * Who could be my mentor? * What skills could I learn? * Which books could I read? Podcasts could I listen to? * Who could I add to my circle? * What behavior could I change to continue to grow? Write down the questions and then let your subconscious mind deliver the answers. 3. Establish specific a.m. and p.m. routines. How you begin and end your day matters. Some of the worlds most successful and influential people rise early and spend time alone on specific activities to prime their day. 4. Never stop growing. 05.01.2022 Don’t bring out the excuses now .. we are only 9 days in Joking aside some of us NEED exercise daily for those that do - 6 body weight exercises for 1 minute you can do at home ... -Make it easy or as hard with timed rest in between or none - or fast pace more reps slower pace less reps (can add weights if you have any to your squat n hip thrust ) If no skipping rope do star jumps or running on spot . If no motivation for physical exercise that’s ok don’t stress it’s just 3 days maybe use your usual daily pt or gym time for more walking or time for your mental fitness with meditation, self hypnosis , journaling #joblackptandlifecoach #fitnessforthebody #fitnessforthemind

04.01.2022 Tonight was a big night so I asked Oscar if he could help me and take over one of the sessions I had booked online . soon realised hes a chip off the old block ( brutal like his dad ) when he kickstarted the session with a straight up 20 burpees .. it carried on from there poor uncle Paul ... Tip ~ A great way to get the kids more involved is to let them make up your training session routine and then be your trainer while you try execute there plan . A positive way to spend time with the children that are in your life Oscar getting to spend time with his Uncle Paul Arthur and seeing someone he looks upto taking care of himself is awesome Explaining tasks Motivating & encouraging others & giving recognition and praise to others can help children to become strong confident leaders and communicators. Meeting in the first car park at white rock at 6.30am ... 01.01.2022 When starting something new is there ever a perfect time , and once we start is the journey along the way ever perfect ? Some moments and parts will be however is complete perfection ever possible to achieve and sustain ? I believe as our goal posts for the perfect body, perfect nutrition , perfect relationships , perfect job, perfect home , perfect bank balance are continuously shifting and we want more this is hard and perfect is not sustainable ... Furthermore Our goals , perceptions and priorities change so our once PERFECT cant last . So continuing to work for PERFECTION in our life can come with stress . Perfectionism can lead to you feeling whatever you do is never good enough then throwing in the towel Striving for perfection whether its in what, when or how much you eat how much or how well you exercise and move your body How well your grooming and beauty routine is how well your performance at work is , how well you are at being a parent How well we keep a house The list goes on and on It will always come at a price stress and peace cant co-exist together.
