25.01.2022 Morning rituals... building #resilience and #wellbeing one walk in nature at a time. Happy Friday everyone. #businesscoach #fridayvibes

24.01.2022 Taking time for myself is a new habit I’m working on. I actually have to set reminders for it. Resilience, creativity, high performance, joy even, all require reflection and quiet time. This is from last week’s night away to @spicerstamarindretreat with Matt celebrating his birthday and our anniversary. ... It takes effort and time to plan a retreat and it’s oh so worth it. When is your next one?

24.01.2022 Practice building a healthy mindset with meditation, affirmations and visualisation techniques.

23.01.2022 For maximum brain health benefits you want to exercise to get a sweat up... today’s basketball game felt like 10000 steps not 3500! To supercharge your workouts do it with friends and you’ll nail your need for connection and play all in one 40 minute slot! 28C and 63% humidity! I’m grateful I wasn’t doing it with any alcohol in my system - 58 days alcohol free ... I’m feeling pretty SMUG right about now! #resiliencecoach #smugaf #brainhealth #businesswoman #soberliving

22.01.2022 When we first try something new, or begin learning about something new there is a frustration and sometimes a fear the unknown makes us nervous notice though that on the other side, is the thrill of new knowledge, new skills and new possibilities. Hang in there everyone.

20.01.2022 It’s hard to beat the combination of a morning coffee, a walk, and the unconditional love of a Labrador as part of a self care routine. #puppylover #labradorsofinstagram #resiliencecoach #selfcaretips

20.01.2022 Something new is cooking! I love the excitement and inspiration that comes when working with someone on the same wave length. Someone that fuels my energy and reminds me that I can do anything. 2021 is going to be mighty big!... #watchthisspace

19.01.2022 Writing a new article about the reasons I’m putting my health first in 2021. Aside from wanting to live with vitality and agility as long as possible for my children, it’s for energy, adventure and presence. Neuroscience says that real food, good sleep and exercising to sweat leads to a healthy brain and one that thinks faster, adapts to change and supports balanced emotional and mental health. ... What’s your driving focus this year? And could healthy living support you? #resiliencecoach #healthiswealth #confidenceboost #mumgoals #businesscoach

19.01.2022 Next time youre feeling anxious, consider using the re-appraisal technique. This involves switching your context from anxiety to excitement did you know that these create the same bodily reactions? A good resource for this is Mel Robbins book, the 5 second rule.

19.01.2022 No filter needed. Takes my breath away every time. I am eternally grateful for my wonderful life here on the coast. Happy Monday everyone.

18.01.2022 Where do you go when the swirl of a challenge starts to overwhelm you? #alcoholfree #mindsetiseverything #mindfulliving #stressless

16.01.2022 If you are feeling fear because there is uncertainty in your life take comfort in knowing that we are all connected in this that response is intrinsically human. You are not alone.

14.01.2022 It takes a little bit of work to notice our own biases. You may want to engage in a conversation with a mentor, someone who knows you well and can help you to see your bias. Our brain is wired to see threats left unchecked this can quickly lead to very negative interpretations of almost any situation reducing your quality of life but also adversely affecting your health. Look at your network, is everyone reinforcing your view of the world? Is it time to bring in some diverse views to help you see things afresh?

13.01.2022 It’s hard to calm down if you don’t realise you’re stressed. I teach my clients to notice the usual stress signals they experience so that the next time one of those symptoms pops up, they can employ one of the many composure techniques. What are your stress signs? Recall a time you were under pressure and stressed. What was happening in your body? Make a note of these things. Next time you experience this, take a couple of minutes to do a box breath or two. Breathe in for a... count of 4, hold it for 4, breathe out for 4 and hold it out for 4. Repeat. Now you will have full access to your pre-frontal cortex and all executive functions, just what you need in difficult times!

11.01.2022 This next round of quotes are to support anyone struggling to deal with uncertainty. In a recent workshop this came up over and over amongst people. The disconnect between current upheaval due to COVID19 and the motivation to take action to achieve one’s goals. Control is a fallacy let’s all get good at navigating uncertainty.

11.01.2022 Meet Annabelle Daniel, OAM and CEO of Womens Community Shelter. Originally trained as a lawyer, Annabelle soon realised, after a stint running a shelter, that she had an intense desire to provide more crisis accommodation to women and kids, Her vision is building, with many others, the Australia that I want them (my daughters) to live in, an Australia that is free of domestic and family violence and where respect for women is one of our core values,. The WCS model brings together the local community, government and donations to provide safe haven for women and children. This is collaboration at its finest. Annabelle’s tenacity and resolve to see her vision come to fruition has been an inspiration for me for 4 years now. I encourage you to donate to Womens Community Shelter if you can. It is my #1 charity of choice.

10.01.2022 What do you do when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed or upset? This is what I did today. Phone on airplane mode, feet in water and whole body in nature... breathing deeply and staying focussed on the things I can control. I came home and cleaned the house too. Heading out for a family kayak shortly. ... #resiliencecoach #resilience #stressrelief #natureheals

09.01.2022 If you want to be influential, you’ll need to develop your capacity to identify the mood in different social contexts and adjust your energy and personal interactions accordingly. This is not about pretending, but more generating an appropriate behaviour for the situation. This takes practice and a willingness to get it wrong at times the more you include yourself in social situations, the more adept you’ll become.

09.01.2022 Did you know that when you experience stress or panic, your impulsive brain takes over (amygdala). When this happens you physically lose access to your smart brain (pre-frontal cortex). This is not helpful in difficult times because it means you lose your executive functions like problem solving, creativity, empathy, and long term perspective. This explains our impulsive behaviours when under pressure poor food choices, avoiding exercise, procrastination and tantrums to name a few. You can learn how to build up the connection between these two parts of your brain, get in touch if you’d like to know more.

07.01.2022 Meet Scott Gooderham, Principal Adams & Jones Real Estate and the epitome of resilience. When I think of Scott I think reinvention. I think about the courage it takes to reinvent oneself not just in terms of the career path one takes, but spiritually, emotionally and even physically. From taking on his health to building a daily spiritual practice, to renewing relationships and digging in and investing in his business Scott has worked through it all. I see the leap in the people and opportunities he is attracting. Don’t kid yourself though, it is work. Whatever we manage to enjoy in our outer world is always a product of the investment we have made in our inner world. Are you craving a life that looks different? Perhaps it’s time to look within and invest in you.

07.01.2022 Unhelpful emotional reactions can be minimised over time with some simple daily practices: - Challenging your own belief system - Great questions is this response helping me to achieve my goals? Should I continue to invest in this? - Reviewing and clarifying your goals and purpose.... Taking the time to be strategic will pay dividends in both the short term (reactivity reductions) and the long term via progress toward your goals.

07.01.2022 Ever felt that life was like groundhog day? It’s interesting how much we crave certainty and yet the real juice of life, the excitement and adventure comes in moments of absolute uncertainty.

04.01.2022 Meet Summer Meredith, a wonderful teacher from my children’s school. Both have been taught by Summer in our first two years here on the Sunshine Coast and I could not be happier about it. Summer understands how to build resilience, she has taught my children about composure, collaboration, tenacity and reasoning. Amidst a challenging couple of years, my children are learning to thrive thanks to Summer’s nurturing influence and keen observations. I am so grateful to have you in our lives and lighting the way for all of our children.

01.01.2022 I hope you’re taking time to rest. Whilst I’m keeping my stories updated, I have downed tools completely - 10 days. This is critical for sustained performance. Even if you can’t get away-away as we have done... take the time to down tools and take care of yourself and your loved ones.

01.01.2022 Meet Sally Battle, a prominent chiropractor from Coast Chiropractic Kawana. Sally has supported my whole family through a tough transition period, keeping the focus on our health and wellbeing, physically and emotionally. Sally encourages resilience in us all while listening for any contribution she can make no matter how small. Often that contribution comes in the form of acknowledgement of how far we have come, of the growth she has observed. A true gift in my life, Sally reminds me that collaboration and nurturing a robust network something she is masterful at makes life worth living! Who are your go-to people?
