You will be someone who has a passion for local news, sports and events and someone who has their finger on the pulse when it comes to all things local for Orange. Ideally, you will have some experience in a print or digital news team or working with online publications and blogs. The successful applicant will be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously... and part of a close team. Key Responsibilities: Ability to work under direction and self-sufficiently to generate news ideas, find and chase story leads and deliver written stories to a deadline. Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts to generate a steady flow of stories Follow editorial direction for research and generation of content Interview key persons (witnesses, sources etc.) to obtain further information and investigate news leads Deliver a vibrant, clean copy to tight deadlines, whilst retaining awareness of The Orange App writing style To be successful in this role, you must have; Must have the ability to gather information and create compelling digital content Must have a keen eye for photographs Must have an understanding of legal covenants and an understanding of copyright Must have strong communication and people skills Must have own car and drivers licence Some newspaper, magazine or news website experience is an advantage Bachelor degree or higher qualification would be favourable, those studying will be considered. Reports to: Editor - The Orange App This is a part-time role of 10-12 hours a week on days to be arranged between you and the editor. This would suit someone looking for flexible working or a student currently studying. You will be mentored in your role and receive training in all facets of digital news.
