23.01.2022 Feeling like your once manageable workload is overwhelming, and time slips through your fingers unproductively, not because you have less time, but because you haven’t the energy? Mental fatigue and feeling exhausted before the day is done is a state that sometimes creeps up over a long period of time in overwhelm, having serious consequences for your health, your mental wellbeing and your previously well balanced lifestyle. Feeling motivated to do the things you love, yet t...oo weak to do them comes about with long term stress or excessive workload. Having too much to deal with physically or mentally may begin a process of depletion driving you into a state of fatigue that may be very difficult to pull yourself out of. Loss of appetite or sugar cravings often follows leading to a poor diet, which further leads to that awful place of not working toward goals, exercising or enjoying simple things, then feeling guilt, while wondering where did the old me go? The usual kick starts to get back on track include positive mindset, a new diet, relaxation, more sleep, and forcing yourself to get out and exercise, though if you’re nutrient poor, such as low iron, iodine, or vitamin C, caused by the original overload to your system, you’ll do it tough to maintain the new regime. You’ll be surprised how easily you can turn it around when your body gets what it needs to support your energy needs. Be your own best friend, take care of you, and be the best version of you once again.

21.01.2022 Our health journey's are hardly ever a quick fix, but that makes the permanent

21.01.2022 Delicious!! Zucchini parmesan chips! Simple to make and an incredible snack. Just cut up a zucchini, coat in parmesan and seasoning and chuck it in the oven. You won't be craving doritos anymore!

21.01.2022 Has life become a project to do rather than to live? Are we losing spontaneity, fun, and being in the moment at the cost of happiness? We focus on reaching milestones through life, though are we missing then those special moments with the people around us that make life meaningful and maintain connection? Sometimes life takes a different path, it’s not until then that you realise you’ve missed the content that makes you feel alive. Being human is to feel emotion, getting lost... in the day to day of doing disconnects us from that emotion, leading to a sense of loss of joy. In essence it does affect our biochemistry, lowering levels of the feel good hormones. Dopamine rises naturally through the bonding experience with a new love, a new child, and can be raised through exercise, though we can lose it just as easily when we don’t pay attention to the beautiful things, such as the brilliance of a sunset with someone special, a long embrace with your partner or children, or even just enjoying your own quiet moments somewhere peaceful. Letting life unfold rather than forcing a plan may mean seeing opportunities that were otherwise missed and seeing life as an adventure rather than a task. Be present and in the moment, connect with the people, the places and your emotions, over your thoughts sometimes. Perhaps it’s ok to break the rules, and allow life to happen, live in the moment and let it take you somewhere amazing, that you never expected.

20.01.2022 Change and challenges can be overwhelming at times, especially during the busy Christmas period, leading to stress and strained relationships. Unloading some unnecessary stressors may be a great idea for this time of year, which could very well mean the difference between coping well, or not at all. Doing your best to choose a better diet, cutting out sugars, reducing grains, and preservatives in premade foods, plus including all food groups to supply you with fuel to keep yo...u going is a great way to feel better within just a few days. By avoiding foods with chemicals and preservatives, you’ll boost mood and energy, choose organic and avoid chemicals in your home as much as possible. Do what you can to get to bed early, sleep well for at least 8 hours every night. If you find you’re waking often, this often correlates with food that has disturbed your digestion from your evening meal, or high stress, which can be resolved through using specific nutrients that produce your sleep hormones in abundance. Resolve stressful issues you may have with friends, family, or at work by dealing with them rather than pushing them aside. Keep in mind that though it may seem a challenge to resolve a dispute, the reward of an improved lifestyle is incomparable to holding onto stress. Reduce responsibilities, work less, exercise more, get outside, surround yourself with beauty and the people you love. Know that you have some say in how it goes. Start making the changes you want to see for yourself in your life.

18.01.2022 Not as Happy as you used to be? Is Stress, Anxiety, Depression or Insomnia overwhelming you? Are Anti-Depressants not working for you? Find out why! Do you find yourself irritated, not able to feel excited, or constantly thinking negatively? Do you have trouble sleeping, your mind won’t stop racing, or you wake too often through the night? Do you get anxiety at bed time where you can hear your heart beating while your head is on the pillow?... One single underlying issue can cause all of these symptoms including anxiety, nervousness, depression, or lack of excitement and motivation for life. Stress feels overwhelming, and little upsets cause feelings of anger. Palpitations, excessive heat in the body, tingling in the hands or feet, irritable bowel syndrome, foggy brain and lack of concentration including ADHD in children, can also be present. Often these symptoms have been going on for months, years or even decades. You may suffer just a few of the above symptoms or perhaps all of them. The cause has been found in the gut and seems to be widespread throughout the community. It is a malicious infection mainly picked up from travelling overseas, or having contact with someone who has travelled which is often only detected in specialised testing. This infection has been shown to release a neuronal toxin, affecting the nervous system physically and mentally. It has not often been associated with mental health conditions even though studies are available showing its impact on the brain. It can be passed on from person to person very easily, and so more than one person in a household may be suffering from similar symptoms and both may be affected. Often, sufferers are able to correlate the first sign of symptoms, coinciding with a trip overseas where they experienced a tummy bug causing diarrhoea or vomiting. Australia is so close to the Indonesian countries it can be transmitted from, and Australians travel there often for their holidays, so imagine the amount of people coming back who could be infected and how it can be passed on quite easily through schools, day care centres, or places of work. Fortunately it is quite easy to address, and most symptoms are relieved as soon as the infection has been eradicated. I have seen patients who have suffered depression for four decades, and after treatment for one month have improved out of sight. Other patients have shown improvement after just one week of treatment. To find out more contact Advanced Wellness on 1800 699 355 to book in for a free confidential assessment appointment. T

18.01.2022 And so do you! Don't be too hard on yourself and your body. Trust the process

18.01.2022 It’s those moments with meaning that build memories, bring happiness, contentment, and balance between work, play, love and life. These moments have the strength to lift sadness, break depression, calm anxiety, and create bonds connecting us to others in a more significant way. Choosing to focus on the past or future, rather than now, may mean we miss those moments that may have been what builds meaning into our lives. A busy schedule, lacking time, being focused on other th...ings, or perhaps the inability to focus through periods of intense stress, can mean those special moments pass us by to easily. Thinking ahead, even just for 5 minutes, may mean creating meaningful moments is possible, connecting with someone, focus on feeling, creating history, memories that last forever, happiness. Choosing to wake early to watch the sun rise, it’s spectacular every time. Choosing to take a moment to say something kind may lift someone else, and yourself, and choosing to bask in the affection of a hug or kiss, rather than rushing your hello’s because you’re focused on where you need to be next. Respect your body with good food and exercise, you’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel, focus on the food you eat, and the exercise you do, rather than rushing it through to get to the end of your day. Slow down your actions and be mindfully present for every moment, you’ll be surprised at the change your body, your mind, and the people around you will experience through just a change in your perspective.

18.01.2022 FIND YOUR PURPOSE!

17.01.2022 Things to think about, improve on and do while self-isolating

16.01.2022 Our world is beautiful! It is so important for our mental health to get out and experience the world. Even through a daily 30 minute walk.

15.01.2022 Does your personality determine your stress levels? Introverts and extroverts draw their energy and deal with stress in two very different ways. Understanding who you are, and your needs, can make a significant difference to the state of your mental and physical health. Social isolation or feeling overwhelmed for long periods of your life are both very real causes of depression, anxiety, and unhappiness. Sometimes, inadvertently, we can make life decisions along the way that... box us into a situation that does not suit our nature, and can be very costly to our health or to our relationships. Attempting to restore the balance can create upheaval, especially if yours, your partners or your children’s needs are not being met, creating further stress. Extroverts are very social people, drawing energy from being around others. Their need for social interaction is very real, where introverts, though still happy to socialize, require time alone to re-energise, finding too much time with others overwhelming and exhausting. The introvert’s need to withdraw is also very real. If you struggle with energy, feel unhappy or excessively stressed, consider your situation, is it congruent with who you are? Being aware could help balance the equation, support your stress hormones with a nutritious diet, as ongoing stress will deplete important nutrients, worsening the problem, and get plenty of sleep and rest. Understanding yourself and those around you can make a world of difference to the quality of your life.

13.01.2022 My daughter and I set up an at home cork and canvas. Such a lovely afternoon spent with loved one to clear the mind and be present. Give it a go, create inspiration!

11.01.2022 The happiest times in our lives are most often shared with friends, lovers, family, our children, and their children. As time goes on, life changes, people move on, families evolve, leaving us to miss the people we once shared those memorable moments with. These changes sometimes bring sadness or anxiety, that may occur so slowly without your awareness, especially if voids are left where loved ones once were, leaving you wondering why you feel so unhappy, lost and perhaps lon...ely. Being aware that social isolation may be part of the cause of your depression or anxiety is incredibly important, and that it can happen anytime in your life. Most often affecting the elderly, or when a life is lost, divorced couples, the children of divorce as their lives change so suddenly often without warning, or simply moving away from family, until a new social network is established. Taking steps to integrate into another social network can change your life dramatically, and is just as important is counselling, being nutritionally sound through diet, exercise, downtime doing things you love, a good work/life balance, or medication if absolutely necessary. Consider what you can do, choose an interest you love, and look for groups to join, whether it’s a sports club, something creative, or a course you always wanted to do. You’ll soon meet many people in the same situation, and you’ll be surprised at the lifelong friendships you’ll develop. Don’t wait for people to come to you, make the change and allow life to begin again.
