17.01.2022 NURTURE - TIME Quick, simple & cost effective, tray baked chicken is the perfect week night dinner. It is easily adaptable for a family or dinner for one. Add chicken pieces to a baking dish, throw in garlic cloves, onion & lemon wedges, fresh herbs, chorizo (if you have it), drizzle with olive oil, season & pop into a preheated oven (180C) for 30-40mins. Serve with some lightly blanched or steamed greens.

14.01.2022 BACK TO SCHOOL TEENAGERS Parenting a teenager can be hard but being one can be far harder. As adults we like to complain how lucky teenagers are today, how easy they have it, however with statistics showing Almost 1/5 of all young people aged 11 to 17 experience high or very high levels of psychological distress. the reality is can be very different. So as our teens are heading back to school this week, I wanted to share with you over the next couple of weeks some support... measures that have proven to be helpful with my family. First stop supplements. 1. Magnesium - A natural muscle relaxer & nervous system relaxant, which can help with anxiety & tension. It also is helpful to ease growing pains. The most effective way to absorb magnesium is through the skin so before bed time fill up the bath add a cup of Epson Salts and encourage your teen to soak (how we do it in our house). If baths arent their thing try a foot soak or visit your local health food store/pharmacy and ask for good quality Magnesium supplement. 2. Probiotics No doubt you have heard about the Brain Gut Connection and as research continues to show the importance of maintaining a balanced microbiome (healthy gut). Adding a broad-spectrum probiotic supplement to your teens daily routine can be not only have a positive impact on mental health, it is also helpful in maintaining a strong immune system. Make sure the probiotic includes the strain - Lactobacillus (L.) rhamnosus. 3. B vitamins play a role in producing brain chemicals that affect mood and other brain functions. One of my teens takes a good quality B Complex once a day and they find it very helpful as part of the mental health toolbox. I love yoga as it costs nothing but a little time to make a difference to how you feel physically, emotionally & spiritually. ...
