25.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why its so hard to permanently change your repeating thoughts and behaviours that arent for your greater good? A lot of it comes down to your subconscious mind the thoughts, beliefs, decisions, and blocks that you arent even consciously aware of. Making a decision to change something in your life for your greater good is fantastic, but on many occasions, conscious decision alone is not enough to instil permanent change. Permanent change often comes... from working at the subconscious level. The good news is there are techniques and processes for accessing and changing subconscious thoughts, beliefs, decisions, and blocks. #stressresilience #stress #wellbeing #positivechange

24.01.2022 Sounds like a strange thing to say, doesnt it: Tell me about your inner world. Your inner world includes: - The thoughts you think... - The conclusions you draw - The messages you tell yourself about yourself, others, or the world - Your perspectives on situations or events - How you see yourself empowered / disempowered, capable / not capable, etc Have you ever heard the William Arthur Ward quote: Happiness is an inside job. This quote stems from the premise that your inner world has an enormous influence on your mental state. There are a lot of things in life that we have no or little control over, and a lot of times situations can hand us some pretty hard knocks or difficulties. The current COVID situation is a perfect example. But what we do have control over are the thoughts that we think about it and how we respond, and it is within those thoughts and responses where our true power lies. #stress #stressresilience #resilience #mindset #innervoice

24.01.2022 For most people, our behaviours that work against our greater good, have their origins in the hurts and traumas that we never healed. By healing, we are giving ourselves the power for our behaviour to be about what is best for us now. #stressresilience #stressmanagement #stressawareness #stressreduction #antifragility #stress #wellbeing

24.01.2022 Active listening is an extremely important, but often overlooked skill. What is active listening? Active listening is where you are giving the person your full attention.... It can apply to everyday conversations, through to especially important conversations. When you are actively listening, you are looking to really hear what the person is saying, rather than just listening to wait until they have finished or listening while you wait for your turn to speak. Active listening is an important part of people feeling that they are being heard, that their opinion is being valued, and that someone is looking out for their wellbeing. #stress #stressresilience #wellbeing #healthandwellbeing #leadership #listening #activelistening

21.01.2022 There are natural human emotions that are labelled as negative. Feelings such as anger, sadness, fear, grief, or stress. These feelings are unpleasant, and it is a common human reaction to push them aside or to suppress them.... The problem is, feelings that are suppressed are generally expressed in other ways, such as angry outbursts, or physical pain or illness. A more productive way to handle negative emotions is to acknowledge and observe the emotions in yourself, and then to process them through activities such as journaling. I encourage you not to suppress your negative emotions, but to find strategies to feel them and process them in ways that doesnt harm yourself or others, in order to work towards moving beyond them. #stress #mentalhealth #mentalhealth #stressmanagement #stressreduction #stressresilience #stressawareness #wellbeing #mindfulness

19.01.2022 How well do you know yourself? What are your hopes and dreams? What are your default thought patterns?... When do you perform at your best? How can you best take yourself out of a bad feeling state? What are the triggers that result in less than ideal behaviour? What things do you do really well? In what ways are you holding yourself back? What are your base beliefs about yourself? How do you react to stressors? What are your fears? What stops you from taking the best course of action? What is your bigger picture purpose? What makes your heart sing? What annoys or frustrates you? What do you value? How do you respond to challenges or setbacks? What things take you off track? Whats your mindset towards various situations? What makes you feel valued and cared for? Self-discovery is one of the most important things you can do to help your performance. By knowing yourself, you are better able to address your limitations, develop your strengths and to live and perform at your best. #stress #stressresilience #stressmanagement #mindfulness #wellbeing #strengths #behaviour #wellness

19.01.2022 If you look at any great business leader and you will see patterns of excellence. Different leaders have strengths in different areas, but you will often see traits such as: * A constant drive to learn... * A pushing outside of their comfort zone * The fostering of productive relationships * Staying in good physical health * Working on any areas that hold them back from achieving their next level of success * A resilience to stay focused and adaptive in challenging situations Performing at you best involves working to be or to become your best version of yourself. #resilience #stress #stressresilience #adaptability #growthmindset #comfortzone #health #wellbeing #relationships

19.01.2022 Tony Robbins also talks of love and connection being one of the 6 core human needs. In todays world, so many of us have lost or greatly diminished basic human connection. Real connection, the kind of connection where you feel a deep bond and trust. Social media makes us feel connected because we can post and see each others posts as much as we want. But I wonder whether the surface level nature of social media and the busyness of modern life is diminishing true connection.

19.01.2022 Life is too short to be dragging yourself to work every day to a job you dont enjoy. . If you are doing work that you are passionate about and that you enjoy, there is no need for "motivation", because work doesnt feel like work. . Following your passion is the true path to fulfilling work.... . It might take time, persistence, resilience and dedication to put yourself in a position where your passion becomes what you do every day, but its worth it. . I think the Japanese model of Ikigai is the most useful model here. It states: . The 4 elements for obtaining your Ikigai or "reason for being" are: . 1. You love it, 2. The world needs it, 3. You are paid for it, and 4. You are great at it. . What are you passionate about? . #followyourpassion #yourpassion #ikigai #reasonforbeing #motivation #fulfillment #purpose #whatareyoupassionateabout See more

19.01.2022 What’s the dialog in your head? We talk to ourselves in our own head constantly. The nature of how we talk to ourselves is generally a reflection of how we view ourselves.... For a lot of people, our self-talk is negative. By making yourself consciously aware of your negative self-talk and actively changing it to positive, you are adding to your mindset and wellbeing, and to your resilience to the stressors in your life. #stressresilience #stressawareness #stressreduction #stressmanagement #mindfulness #stress #wellbeing #antifragility

19.01.2022 There are a large range of techniques and strategies for resetting your stress response back to a calmer state. Nobody likes that feeling of stress or overwhelm. 17.01.2022 Many people are operating in survival mode at the moment. They are focusing on paying the bills and keeping operational. I suspect, that as we move to less restrictive lockdowns, people will move from survival mode to development and growth mode. The challenges that people experience will also change, and you may find that issues (such as mental health challenges) will come to the surface that were not shown in survival mode.... This is important to be aware of so that you can recognise it in yourself, and be aware of it in your staff. If you would like further information or to discuss how you can further support your staff, please message me. #mentalhealth #stressresilience #stressawareness #stressreduction #stress #fatigue #wellbeing #stressmanagement #psychologicalsafety

16.01.2022 Psychological safety is one of the keys to a stress resilient, innovative, and productive teams and groups. Psychological safety is where people feel safe to voice ideas or concerns without fear of a negative consequence from them speaking up. Some tips for fostering psychological safety are:... - Praise & thank people for speaking up - When someone does speak up listen and hear without dismissing or negating - Acknowledge what the person is saying even if not applicable now, and encourage them to continue to speak up - If you are the manager or leader of a group or team make it clear that you have open door policy - There should be no negative consequences for people speaking up in respectful ways. If you would like more information about building stress resilience as individuals and teams, please message me. #leadership #stress #stressresilience #productivity #innovation

16.01.2022 In my work with helping people to build stress resilience, I find that there is a common misconception that people believe that large and far reaching changes only come from large and far reaching actions. Often, this is simply not true! Often, small changes, (such as a mindset shift in how you approach a particular situation), have far reaching effects. ... #stress #stressawareness #Stressresilience #growthmindset #selfdevelopment

16.01.2022 I love this concept for a Friday! Worry doesn’t achieve anything. Progress comes from directed action, not worry.... Have a great weekend everyone. #stressresilience #stressawareness #stressmanagement #stressreduction #stress

16.01.2022 One of the most enjoyable stress resilience tips is: Do What You Love! 15.01.2022 Its officially RUOK Day today! I have a theory that it should be RUOK day every day. Please watch out for each other. Reach out to others. Let them know you care and ask Are You OK?... 14.01.2022 The body has a series of reactions to stress that were created originally as part of surviving life-threatening situations (eg escaping the Sabre Tooth Tiger). The problem is, modern life has a collection of stressors that arent generally life threatening, but our body reacts to varying degrees as if they are. This has large effects, both short and long term, on our ability to think calmly and rationally, on our health and on our general wellbeing.... Building stress resilience gives us the tools to better deal with the pressures of modern life and to function at our best. #stress #stressresilience #physiology #resilience #wellbeing

14.01.2022 I thought it would be valuable to share some reflections on purpose. Over the weekend I finished a significant additional qualification as a health coach. While this is a great feeling for me personally, and adds to my bank of knowledge and qualifications, it also made me reflect on purpose, drive, and continual development.... In my work with assisting people with stress resilience, I see repeatedly the difference in perspective, drive and the ability to be resilient from people who have a vision of their higher purpose for what they do, compared with people who dont. From my experience, having a sense of purpose feeds the drive to work to the best of our ability, achieve, and to continually be adding to our knowledge and skills. Do you consciously have a vision of your purpose both from an individual perspective and from an organisational perspective? Id love to hear about your purpose. Please let me know in the comments below. #purpose #resilience #focus #stressresilience #grit #growth

13.01.2022 Up until very recently, I had a full-time job and my business was a "side" activity. . I have now taken the leap into being self-employed full-time. . I am enormously exciting about the prospect of creating and shaping my business.... . But one thing has become very obvious to me very quickly: . Without the structure of working hours and a defined job role, it would be very easy to fall into "drifting" and "distraction" and not make the most productive use of my time. . I have spent time this afternoon creating a weekly schedule for myself. Ill probably have to adjust it as time goes on, but its a starting point. . This is a concept that we can all use in our lives. Its about knowing when we are most productive carrying out various parts of our lives and knowing when is the best time for rest and relaxation and spending time with the important people in our lives. . When are your most productive hours? What time do you need to go to sleep by in order to get good quality sleep? When are the best times to devote to family and friends? What tasks are best to do at various times of the day? . #productivity #timemanagement #selfmanagement #determination #motivation #knowthyself #scheduling #selfempowerment See more

12.01.2022 Dr Bruce Lipton states that 5% of our behaviour comes from our conscious mind, and 95% comes from the subconscious mind. If you think about it, it makes sense. This is how we brush our teeth, take a shower, drive a car, and so on. Once we learn the behaviours and they become habit, we rarely need to consciously think about what we are doing.... But how does this apply to unconscious behaviours that arent necessarily for our greater good? How does it apply to our reactions to conflict? How does it apply when we have more work on our plate that we can handle? How does it apply when we dont like someone elses behaviour? How does it apply to our self-talk or the dialog in our mind? How does it apply to failure or setbacks? How does it apply when we dont feel heard or feel undervalued? How does it apply when we are feeling upset? Self-realisation is half of the battle. I would encourage you to have a think about your unconscious behaviours and thoughts that really dont serve your greater good. #stress #stressresilience #success #selfrealisation

10.01.2022 Do you have ANTS? Most people do. No, I dont mean the insects. ANTS is an acronym for Automatic Negative Thoughts. 10.01.2022 Both the quality and quantity of your sleep makes an enormous difference to your stress resilience and your general wellbeing and productivity, and for a lot of people, feeling stressed adversely affects their sleep. If you are finding that you are tired and feel that you are not getting enough quality or quantity of sleep, it would be a good idea to have a look at things that adversely affect sleep and things that improve sleep. I share some of these in this video.... #wellbeing #stress #stressawareness #stressmanagement #stressreduction #stressresilience #meditation

09.01.2022 My associate, Diana Carvajal shared a TED talk discussion yesterday on LinkedIn about introverts and extroverts in teams. It highlighted something that I think is worth discussing further. Often in groups, the quiet or more withdraw people are not given the opportunity to speak, or when they do speak their words are overshadowed by the louder voices.... The fact is, the quieter members of the team have value to add, and given the opportunity can make incredible leaders (Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. come to mind as examples). Being an introvert who is not heard can be very frustrating, isolating and stressful and can contribute to divisions in teams. If you are in any sort of leadership role, its important to orchestrate everyone having a voice and being heard and respected for their perspective. If you would like more information about how I can assist you with creating a stress resilient team, please comment below or message me and we can chat about how I can assist in your situation. #stress #stressresilience #leadership #wellbeing

08.01.2022 For some people, a high level of stress response comes from unhealed trauma. If feeling stress overwhelm is a common part of your life, I would encourage you to look to the root cause.

08.01.2022 In this time of unprecedented demands and restrictions, this is your gentle reminder to take time for you. This could mean taking time to: - Take a walk... - Cook a healthy meal - Get an early night - Meditate - Watch a movie - Engage in a hobby - Phone a friend - And so on Despite restrictions, there are things that we can do to look after our physical and mental wellbeing. #wellbeing #stressresilience #stressreduction #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth

07.01.2022 We are currently in a time of large amounts of stress. One of the effects of stress is that it impairs our ability to think rationally. When we are stressed, we are operating more from the fight, flight or freeze, or survival parts of our brain. ... Therefore, its important to catch ourselves when we are feeling stressed and to do a reset in the moment, so we can function at our peak. One of the quickest ways to take ourselves our of the stress response is through Diaphragmatic Breathing. The keys to Diaphragmatic Breathing are: 1. Be in a quiet place, ideally sitting upright. 2. Breathe from your tummy or diaphragm. You can monitor this in yourself by placing a hand on your chest and a hand on your tummy - your chest shouldnt move, but your tummy should go in and out as you breathe. 3. Breathe in a slow, controlled pattern, such as slowly in for the count of 4 and slowly out for the count of 6. 4. Repeat the breathing pattern 4-6 times, or until you feel calmer and less stressed. Its important in these uncertain and stressful times to ensure that we are operating from a place of logic and calm rationality. Diaphragmatic Breathing is one technique to assist us with our stress resilience. #stress #stressresilience #calm #incontrol
