25.01.2022 Hard work pays off

15.01.2022 CLIENT SPOTLIGHT ON PREETI Here we have Preeti, who has had one of her best 9 week goals achieved since starting up with us. She initially had knee and shoulder pain causing her grief in both daily and recreational activities when first coming in. Since then, we have learnt how to identify her pain and manage it. Preeti now walks everyday (sometimes even twice a day), joins in on 3 group classes a week, is gradually easing back into squash and is currently the most fittest... she’s ever been in her life!! Her knee and shoulder pain is no longer much of an issue, even after completing intense exercise programs! Well done Preeti, keep up the great work!!!

14.01.2022 Exercising with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) can be verrrrrry beneficial. First of all we’ll back it up to what T2D is: T2D is a metabolic condition where the body becomes resistant to effectively using insulin and/or decreasing the ability to produce insulin. As the body becomes resistant to insulin, the pancreas starts to overproduce amounts of insulin to keep trying to regulate blood glucose. Overproduction may lead to inability of the insulin producing cells to actually produce ...insulin. Thus leading to a poor regulation to bring glucose into the cells resulting in high blood sugar. What exercise does is help the body to effectively uptake glucose through insulin dependent and independent mechanisms during and even after exercise has ceased. This means that your cells can use the glucose more effectively!!! in blood glucose Both resistance and aerobic training has proven to promote increase insulin sensitivity in the skeletal muscle, adipose tissue and liver. in blood glucose TAKEAWAYS - Exercise is Medicine - Aerobic and Resistance training are both optimal for glycemic control and overall health outcomes - LETS GET ACTIVE!!! Btw there are maaaaannnyyy more outcomes for exercise, this is just a lil snippet Colberg, S., Sigal, R., Yardley, J., Riddell, M., Dunstan, D., & Dempsey, P. et al. (2016). With Joel’s encouragement I have managed to lose 12 of those kgs so far and I am more than happy with the progress I have made in my training. Joel keeps me accountable by getting me to set achievable goals weekly. Our next step is to up my Cardio whilst managing my knee .. Can’t wait!!! Well done to Kathy! Our client of the month!
