25.01.2022 Affordable gas is critically important to our economy, particularly our manufacturing sector. My piece in the Daily Telegraph today.

25.01.2022 Avoiding Mutually Assured Destruction: ending the climate wars.

25.01.2022 The fact is that Scott Morrison and Malcolm Turnbull in the lead up to the 2019 election deliberately embraced a strategy to win that election by exploiting a nervousness within the Australian community about China's rising influence in our region. And what's happening now is that we are seeing a response from China about our language and the number of things that this Government has done to destroy this relationship. And now our farmers and red meat producers and growers, and even coal producers, now maybe lobster, cotton, wine - the list is very long - are all paying a price. My interview on 2GB this afternoon.

25.01.2022 COVID-19 has been a reminder that in defence, health products, medicines, technology, health, food, and fuel we need to build more self-reliance here in Australia. We can't be so reliant on the production systems of other countries. We need to rebuild a manufacturing system here and to create jobs here. My interview on Sunrise this morning.

25.01.2022 It was great to spend the morning with my neighbour Meryl Swanson MP and visit Ampcontrol where we saw some seriously impressive technology - an off-grid containerised water treatment plant (Gilghi unit), an electric underground mining vehicle, standalone power system (solar cube), a hydrogen energy storage system and emergency ventilators! An amazing local company breaking engineering barriers and utilising local workers to make future technology a reality.

21.01.2022 I’m now regularly contributing to the Daily Telegraph opinion pages, here is my second piece.

20.01.2022 I'm very keen for the judicial process to not only clean the show up, but to ensure that not all of our Special Forces soldiers are coloured with the same brush and are caught up in this. This is obviously a culture amongst the minority. And the overwhelming majority of our Special Forces soldiers are courageous Australians who put their lives on the line for their country and our respect for them, and our admiration, has to be maintained. My interview on Sky News yesterday.

18.01.2022 My podcast with Peter Switzer about Labor winning and delivering for those who look to Australia’s oldest political party for help, hope and inspiration.

16.01.2022 Ampcontrol is one of the Hunter Region’s great success stories

14.01.2022 Last year, more than 600 people walked through the streets of Cessnock to send a very clear message that there is never any excuse, never any justification for violence against others, in particular our female partners in the family home. I thank Cessnock Walks Kawuma for driving this campaign, to say NO there is never a reason, there is never an excuse. #cessnockwalkskawuma2020

13.01.2022 It was great to catch up with Vice Chancellor Prof. Kevin Petrie, Provost Prof. Kerri-Lee Krause and DVC Prof Stephen Currow today. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful learning institution in our electorate. Avondale University College has ambitious plans to add even further value to our higher education sector, our local economy and students. I’m happy to provide support and to work with them.

12.01.2022 I want to be part of a government which takes meaningful action on climate change. But the operative word there is government. We haven't proven very good at winning government in recent years. You can have the most ambitious climate change policy in the world, but it's not much use if it stays in the top drawer after every election. We need to recalibrate and we need the capacity to reassure people that we do have a policy suite necessary to meet the commitments Australia ...made in Paris. But a policy suite which also will get us to that goal, without unnecessarily doing harm to our economy and to jobs. My interview on ABC Radio Melbourne with Virginia Trioli.

11.01.2022 Singleton Neighbourhood Centre are now taking donations for their Christmas Hampers. There are many items you can contribute this Christmas that can really make a difference to those in need. If you are able to assist, read the list of items in need below and get in touch with the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre, or call my office for details.

11.01.2022 I'm very happy about the Shadow Cabinet reshuffle. I think it sends a very strong message to our traditional base in particular that we're having a bit of a rethink. It's a bit of a mea culpa that we may have done a few things wrong over the course of the last six or seven years. But as I've said very publicly, changing the jockey is not enough alone. We need to demonstrate that we are also contemplating a new policy course and recalibrating our language, which I think is very, very important if you're going to win back those people who we were born to represent. My interview on 2GB 873 - Sydney Talk Radio today with Angus Taylor and Deborah Knight.

08.01.2022 During my period as a local member climate change has emerged as both a very real issue and one we must address. But the topic is sucking so much oxygen out of the political discourse that there is barely any room for the other things which matter in people's lives. "Renewable Energy Superpower" is a slogan, not a policy or a plan. Net zero emissions is an ambition I support, but it's not a strategy. My column in this week's Singleton Argus.

07.01.2022 I think in the end Trump will do the do the right thing. He’s been the President of the United States, he knows he has a responsibility and I think he'll discharge that appropriately in the end. I think it's a good result for Australia because Joe Biden will normalise the political settlement in the United States, he’ll unify the country. We all hope he's off to a very good start there. But most importantly, he'll restore faith in the international system, and the international institutions Australia relies so heavily on as a relatively isolated island state. My interview on Sunrise this morning.

05.01.2022 It was an honour to have hosted my annual Hunter Volunteers Awards last week with Cessnock Mayor, Bob Pynsent, and Deputy Major of Singleton, Jarrett. In what has been a difficult year for many, never has there been a time where we have had to rely so heavily on volunteers in our community. Recognising our local volunteers and being proud of their selflessness is important and serves as a way to say thank you and that we appreciate your tireless efforts.

04.01.2022 My debate last night on Sky News with Stuart Bonds where I argued the majority of Australians want their government to show some leadership on Climate Change.

04.01.2022 My latest Daily Telegraph piece. Putting labour back in the Labor Party

03.01.2022 Nominations are now open for Cessnock City Council's 2021 Australia Day Awards. Residents of the Cessnock Local Government Area can nominate a fellow citizen/s and/or organisations for Australia Day Awards by clicking here.

03.01.2022 About 30 per cent of a gas is used as a feedstock, or an ingredient, in the manufacture of clothing, plastics, electronics, beauty products, medical supplies, personal protection equipment just to name a few. Just about everything we use every day involves gas, or everything that's plastic. We have an abundance of gas reserves here in Australia, and we should be using it. We have a very strict approvals process to protect our natural environment as we should. But there's a balance and we need to get that balance right. My interview on 2CC with Stephen Cenatiempo.
