24.01.2022 BREAKING: We’re backing our police force with the biggest increase in police resourcing in almost 30 years. The Palaszczuk Government will provide an additional 2,025 police personnel over five years and deliver 25 extra mobile police beats. 1,450 of those will be deployed to the frontline, meaning at least 150 new officers for our region. ... It is because of the efforts of Queenslanders and frontline staff like the Queensland Police Service that Queensland is in a position to recover more quickly than other states. This means we can focus on our economic recovery and support more jobs, sooner.

24.01.2022 We’re making it great in the Sunshine state Needle-free vaccines will be added to our list of Queensland-made products thanks to the Palaszczuk Government We’re working with Brisbane-based pharmaceutical company Vaxxas to manufacture hundreds of millions of vaccine-delivery patches every year, right here in Queensland.... And we’re supporting more than 130 jobs in the process.

24.01.2022 We need our government to looking towards the future, rather than digging up old cuts and chaos. This is yet another example of our Economic Recovery Plan delivering for all of Queensland.

23.01.2022 Today, the next round of successful Regional Economic Development Grants were announced. 15 rural businesses will share in $3.14 million, 3 of those being here on the Southern Downs. Congratulations to Bratasha Farm, Wickham Farms and Finlay Farming Company Pty Ltd for your succesful applications. Each of your projects are exciting and will help Australia reach $100 billion in farm gate productivity by 2030.

23.01.2022 BREAKING: From 1am on Thursday, October 1, we’re increasing the number of people who can gather at venues and events, as long as it’s outdoors. It means busine...sses like outdoor dining, beer gardens, theme parks and zoos, can increase the number of patrons outdoors from one per 4 square metres to one per 2 square metres. The maximum number of attendees permitted at events with a COVID Safe Checklist will increase from 500 to 1,000 per day. Seated capacity at outdoor stadiums, amphitheatres and outdoor performance venues with a COVID Safe Plan can increase from up to 50% to up to 75%. This is another safe, measured step to support Queensland businesses and ensure the economy rebounds - not the virus. #covid19

22.01.2022 It’s great to see more water coming to the Granite Belt. While many won’t believe it, there are still people with empty rainwater tanks with no access to drinking water. The drought is not over!

20.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government’s strong health response has allowed us to deliver our economic recovery plan for Queensland. We can’t risk Deb Frecklington’s cuts.

19.01.2022 The heat wave could have serious impacts on our power supply, as the heatwave could see an almost instant jump of 2x the amount of power needed. Our reserve assets like gas are ready to fill the gap but it will mean a sharp jump in the cost of power.

17.01.2022 Labor has a strong track record of investing in frontline services and this is the biggest investment in Queensland’s police service in almost 30 years.

16.01.2022 Heat wave warning! Just like us, our native animals suffer in the heat. Please keep an eye out over the next week for any wildlife doing it tough. Place some w...ater bowls around your home if you can to help. We recommend placing a small stick in the water also to provide a ramp for smaller animals like lizards and microbats to get out if they get stuck. If you have concerns for any wildlife in the Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Texas, Millmerran and surrounding areas please give us a call on 0434793313 or send us a message on Wildlife Empire

16.01.2022 We’re in the middle of a recession but today, JobKeeper will be cut for 667,000 Qld workers and tens of thousands of Qld businesses. How many more Qld jobs will these LNP cuts cost?

15.01.2022 I grew up just outside the small town of Childers. I absolutely loved it. The beautiful street scape meant that it was a great place to live and also a great place for people to stop on their journey up or down the coast. The LNP just announced they will 4 lane the Bruce Highway from Gympie to Cairns. This will either turn the main street into a super highway, or divert the highway around the town, and many others, killing the local economy and local jobs.

15.01.2022 It was great to be able to give my friend Chris Meibusch a hand at Drayton State School. Chris has run a good campaign and Groom needs a federal member with a passion for this growing city and region.

15.01.2022 It’s great that the border zone has been extended again to include Inverell, Gwydir and all of Moree Plains LGA. All it takes is a little advocacy from everyone. Now I will focus on Wallangarra/Jennings.

10.01.2022 Well said Cameron!

10.01.2022 Today we pause to remember that at this time 102 years ago, our soldiers and sailors had ended World War One. While many returned home, more than 60,000 Australians were lost. Even right now, Australian Defence Force personnel are overseas protecting and defending our national interests. Like those who came before us, service of our nation is the greatest honour and we remember and cherish that great sacrifice. Lest we forget.

09.01.2022 Did you know that Goolburri have a bulk-billed GP service in Goondiwindi for two days every month. The next visit is the 8-9 December 2020. You can book an appointment by calling them on 0746718600 or 0746320338.

08.01.2022 Local shows across the state will continue to delight, entertain and connect communities with 130 show societies and associations receiving more than $2.1 million from the Queensland Government’s Show Societies Grants Program, to help conduct their annual show. The local show plays an enormous role in bringing communities together to meet, compare, compete and most importantly, connect. With many shows having to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, their return will give... local communities a much-needed lift. Across the Southern Downs, the grants will assist Show Societies including: Allora Show Society - $9,524 Goondiwindi Show Society - $14,366 Inglewood Show - $7,736 Killarney Show & Rodeo Society - $6,150 Stanthorpe Show - $16,744 Texas Show 2019 - $9,082 Warwick Show and Rodeo Society Inc - $17,084 PS. I'm definitely looking forward to the Ingenious Sheep Show for 2020...

08.01.2022 Congratulations to President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris! You give the world hope #election2020 #ElectionResults

07.01.2022 Is anyone else watching this... 14 points ahead with 15 mins to go....

06.01.2022 Just more LNP rorts. Deb needs to make sure her team pays this money back and rule out this happening again next year.

06.01.2022 I have a quick message this afternoon about the Stanthorpe Show!

05.01.2022 It was great to attend the Labor on the Granite Belt branch meeting last night with ALP National President Wayne Swan to discuss all things elections. It was timely as the final results came in from counts across the state. I managed to pick up a 4.5% swing to Labor in Southern Downs on the two party preferred vote.

04.01.2022 Another renewable project in Queensland. The Palaszczuk Government is building our renewable future, while the LNP want to build another coal fired power station and waste $1.9 billion on yesterday’s technology. If David Littleproud wanted to he could invest all that money into renewable projects that will build our future! Annastacia Palaszczuk MP is the only person able to lead a united team to achieve 50% renewable power by 2030.

03.01.2022 If you needed any more proof than this that One Nation are not looking out for Queenslanders... Older Australians have been left having their jobs and livelihoods threatened by the LNP/One Nation coalition! We are better than this!... #LNPfail #OneNationfail

03.01.2022 Deb Frecklington has announced that she’ll cut 650 teaching positions to fund her promises. What else will she cut?

02.01.2022 BREAKING: Queensland will reopen to Greater Sydney at 1am on December 1, as per our roadmap. It’s been 28 days since New South Wales had an unlinked case. We know how tough this has been on families, it’s wonderful news.... Thanks to everyone's hard work to keep safe, Queensland is good to go #covid19au

01.01.2022 BREAKING: Victoria had now passed the requirements of 28 days without community transmission as well as high enough testing rates and good results from sewage testing. This means the Queensland border will open to Victoria on December 1.

01.01.2022 It was great to visit the Stanthorpe Eco Expo and listen to Shane Gregg present on Organic Biodynamic Farming. I ran into Sancha Macpherson who is a local climate warrior and I was happy to support her petition of no new coal, oil or gas projects in Southern Downs. Well done Sancha! Agriculture is the present and the future of Southern Downs. While new industries come to diversify our economy they need to be able to compatible with our roots in agriculture. #ss4c #nofossilfuelsinSouthernDowns
