24.01.2022 It may feel like life is off track right now. Your vision or plans for this time taken away without warning. Routines, travel, new starts, weddings, careers and more all on hold. It's ok to grieve the loss of what you thought this time would bring, but remember, it's just a pause. It's only temporary. And in place of this loss, we have been gifted time. Precious, abundant, irreplaceable time. The world stopping is an opportunity to regroup. Take a breath. Rest. Start someth...ing new, a hobby, project or business. Connect with loved ones. Move your body. Move slowly. Sleep in. Eat well. Or do nothing. Appreciate what you have. Be thankful to those on the front line. There's no controlling this situation. No avoiding it. Or speeding up the process. Only time can do that. We will get back on track. We just need to take each day as it comes. #isolationdiaries

21.01.2022 So last week I planned to enjoy a red wine in a stemless glass for Bend + Bevvies, but about 10 minutes before class started, I smashed the glass on my mat while practicing and had no other choice than to use a glass with a stem. 18.01.2022 Although we may feel discomfort, this is when we grow the most. I've had a lot of thinking time while in quarantine and I'm being shown little reminders and lessons that will continue to guide me once all of this has passed.... sometimes we have no control and that's ok people are so extremely generous people are trying their hardest, so always be kind... we are all going through this together it's still ok to smile at strangers use this time as an opportunity to shift to a slower pace, maybe explore a new hobby it's ok to not be ok it's ok to be content, at peace, even happy in this new paradigm it's ok to use this time to hustle and create if you feel called to do so it's ok to not want to do anything at all trust what is meant to be will unfold when the time is right While this is challenging for the most part, I feel so grateful we can stay connected with our teachers, friends and families. What's helping me through quarantine is routine - a daily yoga practice, a workout and eating well. Life is pretty different right now, but it's only temporary. 14.01.2022 I've been spending a lot of my iso hours trying to work off the copious amounts of chocolate and wine I'm consuming... anyone else relate?! I plan my workouts/yoga sessions as I would in the real world, scheduling them in my diary and making sure I show up. If I don't write it in, I don't do it My schedule is filled with variety to keep it interesting and I like tuning into live classes for social engagement, and for the motivation and energy I get from different instructo...rs So my hot tip if you lack motivation is to find a few online classes and make the session a non-negotiable - set it like a real appointment I'm personally still obsessing over Hustl._ pilates, practicing with loads of different yogis, dance classes and am training my brain to love running. So far so good, although during today's run I fell over and went flying along commonwealth avenue check out some of the aftermath.

13.01.2022 I hear a lot of people say 'I can't do yoga, I'm not flexible enough'. Well I'm going to let you in on a secret... I'm not flexible either. Yoga isn't about flexibility though. Flexibility is a byproduct of a consistent practice. So if I skip a few days, I can feel the tightness throughout my entire body. So if you find that this is a narrative in your headspace just know that with a regular practice you will gain more flexibility and mobility ... (In other words, you can do yoga ) See more

07.01.2022 Hi guys! I thought I'd take a moment to reintroduce myself as there's a few new faces following along. WELCOME I'm Jo, Joga Yoga is my yoga biz. I'm a yoga instructor, with a focus on introducing people (you guys!) to the mat, with fun, light-hearted sessions as a way to find mindfulness and guide you into the present moment. If you think yoga isn't for you, then I'm your girl. I'm yoga, SUP Yoga, pre/post natal, kids and teens yoga trained. Also reformer Pilates trained a...nd a Red Paddle Co. ambassador. I love teaching beginners and I love adding elements to a class, like a beer, wine, perhaps a goat or two, a stand up paddle board (SUP) or a Salti Float to really challenge your mind and body to stay present. You won't be thinking about your to-do list while you're balancing a frothy on you back, or trying to stay afloat of your SUP. I'm from Canberra, but relocated to Bali last year to grow my other business Salti with my fiancé however the pandemic brought us back to the Capital, so for now, we'll be in iso here. Before self-employment life, I was an investigator, and also spent many years in marketing and comms. I've burnt out several times and yoga has always helped me through. I am dedicated to my practice, meditation and the spiritual side/philosophy of yoga, however I keep that to my own practice. You won't find a lot of it in my classes because my goal is to help you find your yoga through mindfulness, movement, laughter and community. And when you're ready to deepen your practice, I'll give you the tools you need and introduce you to new teachers to take it further. I'm also pretty woo-woo but keep that (mostly) to myself too I love cadbury caramello and silver queen choc, a red wine, the ocean, travel and surrounding myself with good people Is there anything else you'd like to know? Well adding a new element to our practice gives us something different to concentrate on, helping us to being fully present. Throughout my sessions I am purposely bringing your attention to the experience in the present moment, without judgment. This is mindfulness. Making the session light hearted, social and fun... as possible helps with the psychological benefits, boosting your mood and making you feel good. 01.01.2022 Routine My favourite teachers, trainers and studios have all moved online and it's helping me to maintain a routine while I can't go outside. I am loving having access to them at my fingertips. If you're looking for some online sessions, here are my daily go-to insta accounts ... @creature.yoga - challenging, grounding and everything I need right now, daily classes via zoom. Weekly membership $15 or casual $6 session @hustl._ - free on IG at 7.30am daily, plus some special classes like Manifestation Mondays @alexz.xo is a machine and I LOVE her classes.
