24.01.2022 Food is your friend, not the enemy Take the time to understand what you’re eating, what you’re putting into your body, how is it going to benefit your goals and most importantly your health. Learn to understand food so that you enjoy it, not be afraid of it!

23.01.2022 As It comes to the end of the last working week for 2017 I want to take this time to say a big thank you to all of my clients I have had the pleasure of training and coaching for this past year. This year has definitely been a very hard year for me, from my Mum being diagnosed with cancer, to her passing away and then hobbling through my multiple injuries. You have all not only given me your patience but you gave me your full support, understanding and commitment to me as a ...friend and as your trainer. I can not thank you all enough, you have no idea how much this all meant to me. I know I haven’t been able to give you everything of me this year, but next year is a new one and I look forward to getting back on top for my 4th year here at Fitness First. I look forward to working with you all and smashing new goals in 2018 Xx . . Drawing by @memo.del.solar

15.01.2022 EATING ON HOLIDAYS I’m not going to lie. I’m definitely not perfect while I’m on holidays. My most recent holiday I drank cocktails everyday! (Which I never do) Who wouldn’t take advantage of happy hour and sip Pinacolada’s on the beach every sunset, that’s what holidays are all about right!? But I do however watch the food I’m eating while I’m away. And in most cases this is what weight gain will generally come down to. ... When people hit holiday time they almost look at it as a gateway to go all out and eat EVERYTHING and anything they want, and this is fine, but don’t get upset when you get home and you’ve put on 5 kgs over 2 weeks, you just have to accept it and remember you had a great time doing it. But for those of you that don’t particularly want to gain 5 kgs on your holidays then you’re going to have to consciously think before you eat. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a dessert here and there, just not every night, or eat absolutely everything at the buffet every morning for breakfast and/or dinner. So here’s a couple of my tips for eating while on holidays 1. Eat a healthy breakfast 2. Stay away from as many deep fried foods and meals as you can 3. Limit the amount of sugary drinks (soft drink & juices) you’re having throughout the day (especially if you want to have a drink in the afternoon) 4. Don’t eat the whole bread basket every dinner. Try to stick to what you ordered for dinner 5. Eat regularly so you don’t binge at every meal 6. Try to pick the healthiest things you can off the menu But most importantly enjoy your holiday, try not to stress yourself out about your weight. You will fluctuate, and you may gain weight or you might not. But It’s important to enjoy yourself and recharge, because that’s what holidays are for

13.01.2022 I used to be afraid of eating. Scared that if I ate 1 bad meal I was going to get fat, so I would eat minimal for the rest of the day to make up for it. I’ve tried all the diets, low carb, keto, liquid, detox, small tiny unsatisfying meals, you name it and I’ve tried it. I did this for years, only to get short term results, but never did I take the time to really understand food. I knew what was ‘healthy’ and ‘unhealthy’ and what benefits these foods had to my body, but I nev...er made an effort to understand food as a whole. Micronutrients, Macronutrients and Calories, this is what your body sees. This only really changed for me 3 years ago when I did a bikini fitness competition, it made me open my eyes to how much I really could eat in a day and still drop body fat, fast! Since then I have taken the time to understand what I’m eating by tracking all my food on my fitness pal. I was amazed at how much I under ate and how unbalanced my macros were. I could go on all day about the affect under eating has on the body but I’ll save that for another time. What I do know is I am always learning and I will continue to keep understanding food and the effects it has on the body, but one thing I do know is that short term drastic diets are NOT the answer. If you want to change your body then you need to take the time to understand what you are eating and you’ll never have to do a drastic diet in your life again . #saynotodiets See more

10.01.2022 BREATHE Make sure you take time for yourself. Find 1 hour in your busy week to do something for yourself, something you love or really enjoy, something that makes you feel good and rejuvenated, something that slows your world down and let’s you really breathe. For me this is yoga or laying at the beach in the warm sun and switching off from the world, just for that hour once a week. It helps me to slow down, to breathe and to refocus on me So do you mind and body ...the favour and make some time for yourself this week #BREATHE See more

06.01.2022 It’s time to take responsibility for your results When it comes to progress for either muscle gain or fat loss you are responsible for your own results, or in a lot of cases, lack there of. It is not your trainers fault, your partner or friends fault, It’s yours. It’s about time you start taking responsibility for the results you want to achieve, because no one else can make them for you. Your trainer is there to help motivate you, guide you in the right direction and g...ive you the tools to give you the results you desire. But it is you that needs to implement these tools to your everyday lifestyle. Don’t be upset by the results you didn’t get with the work you didn’t do. #harshbuttrue See more

05.01.2022 This is by far one of my favourite transformations! Apart from the physical of losing an amazing 7.3kg this particular client has gone through a tough mindset transformation. When I met Lorna she struggled to find a healthy balance between life and health. Like a lot of people she thought to be ‘healthy’ and lose weight, you have to eat less and train more. In some cases this is the right way. But for hers and like many others she was under eating and overtraining, which sent her around in circles. It had been a tough 12 months to break her out of this cycle and get her to trust me and the process, but my god has it been worth it! Transformations like this is what I love. I want to help all women break this cycle I’m so proud of you

05.01.2022 Breakfast smoothie inspo Via @lively_wellness When choosing your daily meals you should not only ask yourself 'is this going to help me towards my goals' but most importantly ask yourself 'is this going to benefit my health' . Unfortunately when dieting most people tend to think only about calories and not about the nutrients. It is vital that your body not only get the required macronutrients but also the micronutrients to help you and your body function and perform at i...ts peak #choosewisely See more
