25.01.2022 Experimenting today with a gorgeous new 640gsm watercolour paper. Perhaps it’s time for a new series?

24.01.2022 I’m exhibiting in London for the first time in almost 10 years and I am SO excited! If any of you lovely locals (or not so locals) would like a free ticket to this Art Fair please let me know! I’d love it if you would come and see me, some weird inky portraits and the bunch of really talented arty folk who will be exhibiting alongside me. 19th-22nd March - London baby

22.01.2022 Since last week I officially moved into my new home in Walthamstow, it feels right to share this celebration of Walthamstow-born William Morris on his birthday! What a legend and incredible artist

21.01.2022 It was a huge privilege and great, great fun to be at the Art Lovers Australia Business of Art conference over the weekend to chat about my experience in the Art Industry alongside inspiring panelists Maggi McDonald Art & Design, Jeska Valk Art, Amica Whincop Art, Ian Tremewen and Nancy Donaldson-Knight. A huge thanks to Corey Huff from The Abundant Artist and Emma Hannigan from Curly Top Media for sharing your insights and knowledge. It was incredible to be amongst such passionate, authentic and generous people

21.01.2022 Thanks SO much to those who have voted for me for the Frankie Good Stuff awards! Voting closes Monday and you can still vote through this link if you would like to: https://www.frankie.com.au//7950-johanna-wilbraham-the-100

21.01.2022 hey everyone! I my hair again and I’m wearing my new favourite earrings from @wolfandmoonshop. They are based on the design of 1960s wallpaper so how could I NOT buy them? I’ve been very quiet on social media recently - recovering from the 100day project mostly . I love Insta and FB, I love seeing what my friends are up to and following the work and careers of so many inspiring people. However, sometimes this curated and very engaging reality becomes a little intimidating and it’s time for a break. Does that make sense? It’s so easy to be continually comparing my work to the work of artists I admire, so it can feel a bit creatively stifling. But it’s time to come back! Let me know if you want a commission for Christmas!

20.01.2022 Thanks so much for your support! There is just 1 of these editions left - let me know if you want it

18.01.2022 I am super excited and humbled to have been chosen as a finalist for Frankie Magazine’s Good Stuff awards for my 100 Day Project! If you feel so inclined, I would love your vote for the people’s choice award! You can vote through this link by scrolling down and clicking on ‘vote now’. I’m grateful to be in fantastic and inspiring company - loads of great creativity happening in all categories ... https://www.frankie.com.au//7950-johanna-wilbraham-the-100

18.01.2022 I’ve been slowly working on this painting during lockdown, just for me. You folks know I don’t normally use a paintbrush or work in this style - it’s been a little experiment based on a found image in my Mum’s old photo collection. I have loved rediscovering the delicious texture of oil paint in this way and making something completely out of the box for me.

17.01.2022 This was a challenging and rewarding portrait for me...commissioned to celebrate Jon’s grandfather’s 90th birthday last week. Waaaay out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it much more than expected

16.01.2022 This image was #51 in the 100 Day Project and one of my favourites. I thought I would see how it looks as a large scale print. I hope you lovely folks like it! Thanks Mr Fox for your expert modelling as usual

16.01.2022 I’m pretty late to this trend but look at this!!! Courtesy of the Motion Portrait app. Pretty freaky seeing this girl come to life

13.01.2022 Happy New Year Thanks so much to everyone who has supported my practice this year, whether investing in it, commenting on social or encouraging me to stay with my 100 day project. . This was the last painting of 2018 - a year where I challenged myself to use watercolours instead of oils and work on a much smaller scale. I have a long way to go and loads to learn...exciting stuff for 2019 . This little painting was a commission for some lovely friends - a great flashback to their incredible wedding in Darwin earlier this year

13.01.2022 Hey Folks I am releasing a very limited print run of this painting. Just 10 limited edition signed and numbered prints are up for grabs with full profit split between Black Lives Matter UK and Black Visions Collective in the US. Image size 25 x 30 cm (paper size 29 x 34cm)... 50 +postage. Let me know if you want one! I have thought a lot this week of what kind of action to take considering recent events in the US. Aside from reading, listening and confronting my own white privilege, this is just a tiny way I hope to help. It still matters most that we seek out Black voices and artists.

12.01.2022 There is so much we take for granted as white people. The ability to look around us and see similar faces looking back. The ability for a child to have the correct tools available to draw their self-portrait. They might seem like small things, but the images we see matter and inform how we feel about the world we live in (and how we believe it feels about us!). Representation matters. Images matter. When we open a magazine, turn on the TV or walk into an art gallery it is s...o important that the images available to us are not exclusively white, straight, cisgender, male, able-bodied, slim, etc. This has always been something that I have been interested in exploring through painting and I am excited to figure out how to delve a little deeper into this

12.01.2022 Happy International Women’s Day! Gender equality and female empowerment are so close to my heart that I find it hard to write a succinct and good caption for today. I guess I will keep painting about all this instead...that said, a shout out to all you amazing, passionate, bold, inspirational women. Keep telling your stories. Stories change the world

11.01.2022 Happy New Decade everyone! I'm sorry for being away from this page for so long, it's been a mad and tricky year with lots of change. I'm just about ready to get going again and will be exhibiting in London in March! For now, my thoughts are with Australia during the absolutely heartbreaking fires. I have 1 Sindhu print left in Australia and I'd like to sell this with 100% of the proceeds to your chosen Fire fund. ... It is an unframed, signed Limited Edition Print 80 x 100 cm for $595. I will cover the cost of postage to you. Send me a message if you are interested! Amidst all the chaos and the devastation, it's been amazing to hear stories of all you absolute legends rallying together to help each other out, I'm so proud to soon be an Aussie citizen!

06.01.2022 Australia - you have been AMAZING! I was going to say thanks to all of the for not crawling out of the air vents in the car and causing my untimely death - but this morning a Huntsmen crawled out of my swimsuit as I was putting it on... so the spiders got the last laugh A HUGE thank you to all who have supported my artwork over here - every like, comment, purchase or piece of encouragement has been so valuable to me. I will be continuing to do commissioned work from th...e UK and can send all over the world - so get in touch should you want to chat about work. I also have 1 Sindhu print left here in Aus for anyone that may want to snap her up without paying the overseas postage costs. Thanks, you gorgeous, fabulous Aussies - you really are the best

03.01.2022 To those of you who were planning to come to The Other Art Fair next week, unfortunately it has now been cancelled due to the Coronavirus situation. So sorry I won’t get to see you next week , but I will keep you posted about the next Fair later in the year!

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas! Wherever you are and however you celebrate, I hope you are happier than Mr Fox meeting Santa

02.01.2022 I don’t know the answer to the question of how to eradicate systemic racism and oppression in the US, UK and all over the world. I acknowledge my complicity and silence, and hope to do better and learn more. But it’s not my voice that matters, so here are a selection of just a few awesome Black Artists to support and follow and listen to: @monachalabi @joylabinjo @_stormae @linairisviktor @nikkolas_smith @ohhappydani @cigherette @renieddolodge @stephanieyeboah . If you have... any more recommendations please tag them or add your name to the list for me! Let’s keep learning and keep growing . #supportblackcreatives #blacklivesmatter #supportblackartists See more
