25.01.2022 The woman in the picture with a police officer is Helen Johnson from Tarrant, Alabama. She was caught stealing at a nearby Dollar General and the police were ca...lled to arrest her. The surprise of all is when the police officer arrived at the scene and asked her what she stole, she said, "Five Eggs To Feed My Hungry Children.". The police officer took her back to the supermarket and bought her groceries to feed herself and her kids. Miss Helena started crying and asked the police officer, "Sir, this is too much for you have done for me...". The police officer replied, "Sometimes we shouldnt apply the law but must apply the humanity!". Credit to: Carol Robinson. 17.01.2022 Today is Vietnam Veterans Day. We remember and say thanks to those who served, those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, and those who returned with a heavy burden... to bear. We recognise you, and we thank you. Lest We Forget. I will be going live on Facebook today around 11:30am to broadcast the commemorative service in Hobart.

14.01.2022 If you were going to write the script for a military action movie where the leading character was a larger than life, fearless war hero, the inspiration for tha...t movie could easily be Major James Capers. Born in Bishopville, South Carolina, he enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After serving in combat infantry, he re-enlisted and would soon become the first African American to serve in the Marine Corps elite special operations unit known as Force Recon. Ultimately, Maj. Capers went on to become one of Force Recons most decorated Marines. During his service, Maj. Capers and his teams conducted over 50 wartime missions, many of which were classified. He led amphibious assaults, covert missions to rescue POWs, and even a recovery mission for a downed B-57 bomber rumored to be carrying a nuclear weapon. It would take more than two hands to count the number of times Maj. Capers was wounded while serving our nation. His list of awards is a mile long and includes multiple Purple Hearts, the Silver Star, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and two Bronze Stars with the V designation for valor. A true American hero if there ever was one, Maj. Capers service to our nation did not end after retirement in 1978. To this day, he still mentors active duty and retired service members. The week before last, I had the honor of attending one of several events honoring Maj. Capers in his hometown of Bishopville. Later that weekend, he reportedly told a crowd, I dont deserve all of this. I think hes wrong. I think he deserves every award and honor that comes his way. Thank you, Maj. Capers, for your incredible service to our nation. 13.01.2022 #OTD Trooper Mark Donaldson, SASR awarded VC On the 2nd of September 2008, Trooper Mark Donaldson participated in a series of heroic actions that would see h...im awarded Australias highest award for bravery and gallantry in the face of the enemy, the Victoria Cross for Australia. On this day, Trooper Donaldson was patrolling with Afghan and US forces when they were ambushed by a well-prepared and numerically superior Taliban force. Donaldson deliberately exposed himself to enemy fire in order to draw attention away from casualties, allowing them to move to cover. Whilst the patrol attempted to withdraw, the number of wounded personnel was such that the unwounded personnel, including Trooper Donaldson, were forced to remain outside the vehicles. Whilst retreating, their Afghan interpreter was wounded and was not been loaded into a vehicle. Trooper Donaldson immediately ran across 80m of open ground to the interpreter, and began administering first aid. The patrol eventually broke free of the ambush after two hours. For his actions that day, Trooper Donaldson was awarded the Victoria Cross. He was the first recipient of the Victoria Cross for Australia (previous Victoria Crosses were British), and the first Australian to be awarded the Victoria Cross since Warrant Officer Keith Payne was awarded his in Vietnam 40 years prior. --------------------------------------------------------------- If you spot an error, please send me a message. 06.01.2022 On this sad day we remember the five Aussie diggers who lost their lives in Afghanistan in 2012 in the darkest 24 hours since the Vietnam War. On August 29 Lanc...e Corporal Stjepan Rick Milosevic, 40, Sapper James Martin, 21, and Private Robert Poate, 23, were killed in southern Uruzgan by a rogue Afghan National Army soldier. A day later Lance Corporal Mervyn McDonald 30, and Private Nathanael Galagher, 23, were killed when an ISAF helicopter they were travelling in crashed while attempting to land in Helmand province. May you all rest in peace. Lest we forget See more

03.01.2022 #OTD Private William Cutcliffe, KIA Today we pause to remember the life and service of 2785238 Private Timothy Joseph Cutcliffe, who was killed on the 25th o...f August 1967 whilst serving in Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam. Remembered as an all around great bloke, Will was killed when a mine detonated under a tree where he was sheltering from the rain whilst on sentry duty. He was serving as part of 12 Platoon, D Company, 2RAR. A national serviceman, he was only 20 when he deployed. Nonetheless, he did his duty bravely and paid the ultimate price. Lest we forget. --------------------------------------------------------------- If you spot an error, please send me a message.

03.01.2022 Today we remember, Private Grant Kirby and Private Tomas Dale, both from the Brisbane based 6th Battalion (6RAR). On the 20th of August 2010, Private Kirby and ...Private Dale were on patrol during an operation in the Baluchi Valley when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded killing both men instantly. Two other Australians were also wounded by the blast. Private Grant Kirby was a 35-year-old father of two girls from Brisbane, he was on his first deployment in Afghanistan, having previously deployed to Iraq and East Timor. Private Tomas Dale was aged 21, from Reynella in South Australia, Private Dale was on his first deployment in Afghanistan. Our thoughts are with both families today. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Lest We Forget See more
