16.01.2022 We received this wonderful message from our Student Council President Rishika Nair and would like to share it with our community. "Speaking on behalf of the students, I would like to thank all our teachers, support staff and cleaners. As this whole situation started to become much more serious, we could see the hard work our cleaners were doing, walking around the college cleaning surfaces as often as they could, and ensuring there was soap in all the bathrooms. For this, we ...are very grateful to them for their efforts in making the college a safe space we could learn in. Thank you to all staff members who ensured both students and parents were constantly updated and informed of the progressing situation within schools. As numbers of students attending school dwindled, we could see the concern the teachers and staff had of whether students had enough material and support to be working at home. Your efforts in helping the students has really been appreciated. We have been getting emails and updates of what we should be covering in each class. Teachers have made it known that they are available to support and aid us in our work, and we can email them with any questions or inquiries at any time. We have really seen the dedication and the lengths that every staff member at JC are willing to take for us to receive our education. And for that, we are so grateful and we thank you all for your efforts in not only keeping us safe but also making sure we feel supported. Thank you all." Rishika Nair, President Student Council

Adults $20, Students $17. https://www.trybooking.com/BJTIO Stories from Home consists of seven short stories based on Thomas Hungerfords experiences of growing up in South Perth that are lovingly retold in his autobiographical tale Stories From Suburban Road. Set between two world wars, Stories From Subu...rban Road vividly portrays the pleasure and pain of growing up in South Perth. A unique collection of episodes, the work is based on the authors own childhood and adolescence in semi-rural suburbia in Western Australia. Stories such as bird-nesting and the school day, crabbing and swimming in the Swan River, Chinese market gardens and the bush, South Perth Zoo and the old corner store are all brought to life through the eyes of a boy growing up in the 1920s and 30s. 04.01.2022 Congratulations Year 10 Declan Daines heading to The Australian Ballet school in 2021. 15-year-old Declan has a dream to turn his passion for dance into a lifelong career where he can share his joy and love of performing, teaching and choreography. Declan has been studying Ballet and Dance in Perth since he was 6 years old with Helene Gowers Ballet School and is currently in Year 10 at John Curtin College of the Arts in the Gifted and Talented Ballet program. While keeping u...p his academic studies, gaining academic recognition awards, he has also been diligently pursuing his future career path. Earlier this year Declan auditioned for entry to the Queensland Ballet Academy and The Australian Ballet School, two of Australia’s most prestigious dance schools. In September Decan learned that he had received an offer of placement for both schools. Declan has accepted the offer from the Australian Ballet school to commence in 2021. This is a huge decision both financially and personally for his family with Declan not turning 16 till March. I am so excited, but also scared at the same time as I have never been away from my family and home before. The course he has accepted is a two-year course and he will complete his Year 11 & 12 studies at the Victorian College of the Arts secondary school. This year we see Nutcracker return to our Curtin Theatre where Declan will the perform Harlequin Doll and the Grand Pas de Deux as the Cavelier with Sugar Plum. If you would like to see more of his journey or help him reach his goals, please visit the link below, share the video or link and most importantly, enjoy. https://gf.me/u/yzrpn7 See more
