24.01.2022 A Utility Im now calling the Farmers Knife because it went to Belles father in Collie. 4-3/4" / 120mm blade - ATS34 (Yup, you read that right. ATS34, good old steel from back in the day. This off-cut had been laying around for donkeys years) Sinclair stabilised Tasmanian Blackwood handle cw G10 & SS spacers. Guard is 416SS. Should you be interested in something similar please PM me.

Black Linen Micarta handle scales. Blade length 4-3/4" . 122mm... Handle length 5" / 125mm. This one's for sale so if youre interested pm me soonest you can. See more

22.01.2022 A couple of chefs blades just out of Cryo. Smokin' away. Time to get them tempered, polished and handled. Lookin' forward to it all. Thanks Mark S. Enjoyed the drinks as well. Pity I had to work the next day, couldve stayed and made a session of it!!!

22.01.2022 This hidden tang hunter is in RWL34, Tasmanian Blackwood, SS fittings and G10 spacers. As usual, the RWL34 came up brilliantly under polishing. The TBW is spectacular, with a very tight fiddleback pattern on a chocolate background. This one is for sale.

22.01.2022 Utility / bird and trout. ATS34 blade, 10cm, stabilised Mallee root handle cw G10 and SS spacers, 10cm. SS guard. Managed a strong mirror polish on all metal parts. The Malle and the G10 set each other off well. Good little general use knife. This item has been sold.

20.01.2022 Another post to follow the one below. Drop point hunter in ATS34, 11cm blade, dovetailed bolsters, mosaic and SS pins, Mallee handle and blue liners. Managed a strong mirror polish on all metal parts and the oiled Mallee has come up well.

19.01.2022 Two completed chefs knives. 440C blades, G10 bolsters, pin work and stabilised Maple Burl / Oiled Mallee. Two large knives for two very large guys.

18.01.2022 Allan came over for a couple of tutoring sessions. He took it well when I said, on more than one occasion - "Mate, you have to go back to 240 grit to get rid of that scratch". All in all Allan ended up with a very nice hunter. RWL 34, stabilised Maple Burl and G10. Nice bit of kit.

16.01.2022 This post is in response to a couple of queries Ive had recently. The drop point and trailing point hunters are all ATS34, dovetailed bolsters, mosaic pins, oiled mallee handle scales and blue liners. Blade on the drop point hunter is 11cm and the trailing point is 9cm. Managed a strong mirror finish on all knives and the Mallee handles are as usual, quite spectacular. The bush knife has a 24cm blade, slightly flared at the point, SS guard, black linen Micarta handle scales. At 3/16" thickness the blade is robust enough for chopping work, but thin enough to deal with a fish, if need be. Once again, ATS34 is my steel of choice - tough as old boots, and the micarta handle is the same. PM me if youre interested.

15.01.2022 This is the one that won Best Hunter in Show at the Perth Knife Show. Very, very surprised at that!! Thanks again to Kevin Hobbs, who brow beat me into entering the competition in the first place. This one is now with Jarle, in Norway. Should you be interested in something similar please PM me.

03.01.2022 I plan a work in progress post for a couple of filleting knives. The customer wanted a "pigeon pair", ie; two knives the same, however, he then said he wanted to be able to tell them apart so I have altered the designs to; Same handle shapes, different pin work. 1 x straight blade & 1 x curved at the tip blade. The customers original spec was for two straight bladed, rigid filleting knives, similar to the ones he currently uses. The blades on mine will remain rigid but I got ...a bit Bohemian and made one blade with a curve at the tip. Photo 1: Rough sketch illustrating the finished knife. Photo 2:Blanks profiled, flats "flattened" glue and pin holes marked and drilled. Photo 3; Photo 2; Blade, handle, bolster, liner and pin materials. Photo 4: Grinding main bevels Photo 5: 45 degree edge bevels finished Photo 6: Rough ground blades Photo 7: Clamped to the jig for hand sanding which starts at 240 grit - lots of scrubbin' to be done here. I pay particular attention to this stage since it will finalise the flat grind and be the basis for the final finish - blisters, tedious blisters!!!! Photo 8: 1x blade finished to 240 grit - now the other one ........ Photo 9: One of the handle scales - have put this in to show how I remove the central part of the liner so the gorilla snot can adhere to the actual handle material and not to the liner material. Gorilla snot = Epi Glue / 2 pot mix / marine grade glue. Photo 10: Handles clamped up. I leave these overnight so a good bond is achieved. Photo 11: Now for the detail work. Rough shaping is done on the grinder, then I file to handle to shape, shoe shine with 80 grit paper, then go thru the grits to 1500 or 2000 grit. The jig the knife is clamped into is very handy in that it achieves the aim of having the knife handle "float in mid air" so to speak. I can adjust the jigs angle in the vice to reach all areas of the handle. Photo 12: Finished knives - this photo was taken after final polish and sharpening. The finish on one knife is mirror and on the other is 2000 grit satin. Have put the edges to the knives as well and, surprise, surprise, I haven't cut myself with either of them yet!!! Sheaths next. More to follow, will update as I go. See more

02.01.2022 Chefs knife. 21cm ATS34 blade, 11.5cm handle. SS fittings, SS pins x 2, mosaic pin x 1 and stabilised Budgeroo burl handle scales. 2.6mm blade thickness at the ricasso, tapering to 0.7mm at the point. Edge thickness is a uniform0.48. The Budgeroo burl handlescales are the defining feature of this knife. Unreal!!... Very comfortable, easy to use knife and scary sharp with such a thin edge. This item has been sold. See more

01.01.2022 Mickeys chefs knife. RWL34, Ringed Gidgee and SS / Mosaic pins.
