23.01.2022 Put some new electronics (Helix and Minn Kota) in the little tinny so we went for a quick run up Corrooman yesterday morning to show Pop how it all works. Geoff was pretty happy nailing a top creek finger. Fine dining last night #visitcapricorncoast #visitcapricorn #fingermark #humminbird_au_nz #minnkota_au_nz #fingermark

23.01.2022 Hi guys, have a fresh video that’s just been uploaded on using the Hummingbird Helix G3N offshore. Plenty of sounder shots and vids showing exactly what we are fishing on. Clarity and target separation is crisp. If you could do me a favour and give the vid a like, share and also subscribe to the Fish and Boat magazine Youtube page would be greatly appreciated. I can assure you there will be plenty more great vids coming your way in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4Brthbc9MU

23.01.2022 Here’s a tip for all you guys out there using auto chart live on your Humminbird units. If your transducer can read at speed and you turn on your auto chart live you can map while travelling. Very handy for guys mapping dams or if your mapping safe travelling routes through rivers and creeks. You will run out of internal space on your unit so I suggest to grab a zero lines map card for extra storage Humminbird Australia & New Zealand

23.01.2022 Been getting out and doing some light gear fishing of late taking advantage of the cooler weather for bread and butter species. Last trip to starvation creek (Corrooman) was a cracker. Over 30 fish hit the deck of all variety’s. Flatties, good sized bream, cod, Moses perch, fingermark, grunter etc. The big surprise was the amount of bait in the creek and also the steel back salmon numbers. If you flicked a snag and didn’t get a fish you would get squadroned on the retrieve ba...ck to the boat by steelies. Did a lot of searching and only pulled the rods out once fish had been located on the Helix. Tried a lot of different lures and the Balista vibe did well snagging the flattie of the day. Gulp prawns and swimming mullet were also atop performer. Would have been great if the kids were home to get them some more confidence with lures. Maybe next time. See more

22.01.2022 Bit of school holiday fun from Friday last week. Brooky had her first go using a cast net outside of the back yard and caught her first prawn. Well she actually caught 2. Her brother had to hold it up for the photo Still a bit of work to get a full circle but getting there. Brooky also caught her third ever Barra. Always great getting the kiddies out on the water #fishingthefitzroy #barra #castnet

22.01.2022 The Fitzroy River Barra Bash bought to you by Frenchville Sports Club was held last week on the mighty Fitzroy River. Unfortunately for us we had a shocker of a comp. The prefish was shaping up to be one to remember then comp day come along and everything turned to shit. Barra seemed to move from reliable areas and some of the spots we had they just didn’t show up. Lack of tidal run and insane water clarity made the thinking caps go on. A tail of woes but as usual good learn...ings from it. We finished in 17th out of 90 odd teams which isn’t to bad of a result considering. Would like to thank my team mate Luke Peisker as its always tops getting out on the water and fishing together. Didn’t take many pics during the comp so added some from the two weeks leading up to the comp. Plenty of Barra in that river if you know where to look and there’s a good reason why we run Humminbird mega imaging, I’ll let the screenshots do the talking. Congratulations to all the winners, Griffo and Karim with an impressive come back to take the win, Dially and Quintin Maclean always consistent and Tim Guy and Nathan Hootan with a Stella performance. It’s a comp we look forward to each year so if you haven’t tried it out then make sure you jump on the next one. Fishing the Fitzroy Humminbird Australia & New Zealand See more

20.01.2022 Hey guys, if you want something to do on a Sunday arve this is part 1 I just knocked up on how to turn your $500 tinny into a fish catching weapon. Hit the link at the bottom to watch. Also would love to see any tinny mods you guys have done so throw a pic or 2 up in the comments. Cheers. Rifen Marine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXgSIPZj_Hs&feature=youtu.be

20.01.2022 Awesome that Barra season is now opened up again. During the closed season I finally got some time to put into CQ jacks on lures. I put some time into other areas outside the norm of where most chase them. Was good to put some quality on the deck with a couple going over the magic 50cm mark with the best going 53. Some of the hits were insane and a few of the battles lost. Such a cool species to target and learned heaps from such a short time

19.01.2022 #TGIF Nothing better then a few cold ones and some seafood prep. Salt pepper squid, crumbed Nannygai and mud cab spring rolls because coastal living is lyfe Cheers to your weekend #capricorn #visitcapricorncoast #gkitigersquid #thisRonaiscool

17.01.2022 Recently got out for an over night red hunt with my old man and Dan Baker. We had a good bite just on sun set then the wind got up at night and blew hard. Anchored up in the shallows for the night and had a steady supply of red throat coming over the side. Got up in the morning and the wind was still up so used the sea anchor to drift. Nailed a few more reds and mixed reef. I also got a good red on slow pitch jig which I’ve been trying to do for bloody ages. The celebration w...as next level, got a bit of video of it which will share later. Also got a Maori/trout combo on a single jig which was cool. We got some stonker chinamen too which are always a disappointment. Finished up with a good esky and headed home. I was trialling a few bits of gear this trip. Better Tackle circle flashers nailed some great fish including the biggest red of the trip, tough gear and corner jaw hookups almost every time. ELKAT Fishing Australia striker 7 gangs were also deadly, sharp and strong. There will be a detailed report coming out in the next few months for Fish & Boat Magazine so keep an eye out. A few cool screen shots off the Humminbird Helix of what we were fishing on. See more

17.01.2022 If you haven’t yet you should get on the Holt Productions swim prawn, the 5 inch white nailed this mundee last trip in the little creek basher. 16.01.2022 It’s official, big news coming out of the Humminbird camp. Mega live imaging will be off tap. Can’t wait to have a play #humminbird_au_nz #megalive

16.01.2022 Is there a species that you’ve always wanted to catch on a particular technique? Well I finally got a legal red on slow pitch jig and it has taken me bloody ages. Got a bit of vid of the capture and celebration which will post up later, it’s a bloody pisser. 13.01.2022 It’s great to see Fish and Boat magazine back printing again. Make sure you get your hands on the September edition next month. Excited to grab the cover as well. 12.01.2022 Recently got to jump on board with Mick Slade and head up to Corio Bay with the light gear for a half day sesh. There’s always something relaxing about rocking up to the ramp with a rod and playing passenger. Sladey’s knowledge of the area was very impressive. I’ve only fished up there a hand full of times so I was of no use at all Plenty of laughs and plenty of fish. Flatties, brimz, tarpon and others kept us busy. A couple of smokings in the timber was amusing for the other angler. Great trip all round

12.01.2022 Braxy was keen for a run today up Corrooman in the tinny after seeing Pops nice fingermark a few days ago. He managed a couple of keepers for the esky and about a thousand cod to keep him busy as well. Was a great father son trip. Hope everyone else has been getting the youngsters out for the school holidays

11.01.2022 Saturday last week took the kids and old man over to Keppel to chase some tiger squid. As usual the kids had a ball and I played deckie running around with the net, deck hose and a rag. Messy but so worth it #tigersquid #cruisecraftboats #visitcapricorn

09.01.2022 Had an absolute ball fishing the Shimano King of Kings comp on the weekend with Matty and Luke. We did a bit of everything and boated a few nice fish. No prizes for us this year but highly recommend this event. Plenty of laughs with the lads, PB’s on golden trevs and Matty had his first crack at jigging and nailed a nice nanny. We thought we hit the nanny motherload when we found a Christmas tree but turned out to be the golden. Check the Helix sounder shot out. Plenty of arm stretching for a good hour or so. We were confident on chasing big threadies but struggled to find any groups of fish, mostly scattered but that’s fishing. 09.01.2022 Braxy finished our season off today with a 73. Tough conditions with strong winds funnelling down the town reaches. Some days it’s a proper grind to get to this point. I was up at a sparrow fart to get live bait from Corrooman before digging the young fella out of bed and heading to the Fitzroy. A massive effort all for one bite and one fish but to see the excitement and smile on his face makes it all worth it. #parentlyfe #fishingthefitzroy #humminbird_au_nz

08.01.2022 Get ready for some reviews and videos, new toy to play with. Can’t wait to put the Humminbird Mega 360 to the test throughout the RockhamptonNFZ. Frothing #humminbird_au_nz #megaimaging #HelixG3N #mega360imaging

07.01.2022 Hey guys, here’s an on water look at the new Humminbird 360 imaging. For anyone new to this sort of tech it’s like an underwater radar that scans in all directions from the boat. Very handy not having to re scan and drive over fish before casting at them. Click on settings and change to 720HD to bring the Helix up nice and clear. 02.01.2022 Super proud of my young fella today. Braxy scored 80cm of Winter Fitzroy chrome and a new PB. He did it all by himself except for when it ran him around the outboard and needed a hand.
