16.01.2022 C&C Law (Integrating The Family Lawyer - Australia) So the time has come to launch my own "show" (legal practice) once again. C & C Law will be rockinnnn from 1 July 2020. The main area of practice will remain Family Law but we will take on select matters in Criminal Defence, Reputation Management/Defamation and Wills/Estates. As some of you know I was the Principal/Partner of a general practice firm in Teneriffe/New Farm for almost 10 years before I decided to sell it and ve...nture into other aspects/interests in my life and be a father to 2 young children at the time. I returned to the "mouth of the beast" (ie legal paradigm) almost 2 years ago and my brain and "smarts" are shaped now to a point where once again I'm assured and confident I can match it with the very best in my field. Ben Torley whom I've known for several years will be working with me as a Law Clerk. Presently Ben is a law student and will bring organisational and people skills and a strong ethic into his role, not to say marketing and branding nous due to this time in the entertainment industry. I will also retain specialist consultants in the above fields as required from time to time. My son, Sol, is now 17 years of age and wants to break from his mum's nest and live in Byron Bay, where I've had a property for many years. In line with that, I'll be working out of my Byron home office and servicing that area, the Tweed, Gold Coast and Brisbane, where I will have an office and residence. (I'd worked it out pre-covid but post-covid has reinforced that with what I do professionally I can do it from almost anywhere as long as I have a wi-fi connection. It's a brave new world and my office will be entirely paperless with all files stored on the cloud.) I'd like to thank those who've supported me since my return to the law and I look forward to being of service to many more of you as required.
15.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there (that includes me). Your efforts are not forgotten.

15.01.2022 from 01/07/2020 we're in business!!!
07.01.2022 MENTORS my son Sol is a bright kid, 1 of the brightest people i've encountered and interacted with. i'm not sure what he intends to do on the completion of school this year apart from him saying to the effect, "I won't be going to Uni, that's an indoctrination" and "ive got to believe in my gut, my inner truth." earlier this year Sol was helping me with some legal matters, drafting Orders and admin stuff, but the law "man-made and flawed" as he put it, didn't interest him muc...h. i was out to dinner with Sol earlier this week and out came some stories about Bob Brewer, a legendary Queensland Barrister, I worked with on many cases, traffic and crime mainly (from memory we only lost a single case together, a truckie full of speed who lost control of his truck and mowed half a dozen people near the Gabba). Out pricked Sol's ears, there was laughter, given Bob not only had fun at what he did but was constantly picking holes in legislation and cases. id often sit at his office on queen street where we'd eat ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches together. once I asked where he derived all his lateral thinking from, and he said with a wave of his arms, "in the toilet, of course, it's the best place to think." out came laughter that would circle his office. now thinking back, it's amazing the places we can go and what we can achieve when we have the right mentors. as i dropped Sol at his mum's he said to the effect, "that Bob guy is an interesting old man. i wish id met him." Then with several nods, "I hope i can challenge the system in the manner he did and help people along the way like he did." he left down the alleyway, his shadow dancing in the faint moonlight and then swallowed by the night. I nodded for a bit myself, then sped off ............. John Castanho 25/11/2020

02.01.2022 The first 6 months of the financial year have been very busy . There were times when we were hammered with new work whilst simultaneously endeavouring to deal with sophisticated matters/hearings before the Court. We got through it. We learnt and our technical skills broadened . Now it’s time for a reset. We’ll take a break. I’ll go up into the hinterland and beyond in my 4x4 without electronic equipment and chill for a bit from 18/12. Thereafter I’m looking forward to anot...her challenging 6 months into 30 June 2021. .... There isn’t a perfect result in a jurisdiction such as family law given it often encompasses a substratum of emotion in most litigants but we guide you and endeavour to optimize the best outcome for you. Thank you for those of you who’ve supported and referred matters to C & C Law. It’s much appreciated. Regards, John
