25.01.2022 Funding our TAFE system creates local jobs, so this investment is more important than it's ever been. The money will go towards vital maintenance, particularly to the city campus which is more than a century old. Rebuilding our TAFE system and expanding free courses is one of the achievements I'm most proud of. ... It's meant thousands of people across Victoria have been given a chance to get ahead. There's more to do, but we will always be committed to making sure our students can get a fair go.
24.01.2022 Today marks 23 days of zero new cases in Victoria. That is an absolutely incredible achievement. Thank you for everything you've done to get us to this point.... Now it's time for Victorians to enjoy more of the freedoms that come with getting this virus under control.
24.01.2022 Solar panels save families money. Just this month we reached the one hundred thousandth installation through our Solar Homes program. Every one of those installations is a family who paid nothing up front and now has half-price solar. ... In tomorrow's state budget, we're expanding the program. It'll make the cost of living just a little bit less at a time when we all could do with that.
24.01.2022 Today was day 3 of my 27 day walk to support Parkinson's Victoria. I joined ABC News Breakfast to discuss my story and why raising awareness and funds is so important. If you'd like to support the cause, you can either join my walking team or donate directly.... Please click here for more information: https://bit.ly/3ilj9IU.
24.01.2022 I know some people in our community aren't sure what the social bubble means for them, so I wanted to clarify it here. We're still in the fight against this virus, so it won't fit everyone's situation perfectly. But it will come as a major relief to a lot of people who have sacrificed a lot in the last few months.
24.01.2022 Today's State Budget doesn't just set us up for recovery it means we'll come back even stronger and fairer. We're injecting billions of dollars into our region, creating local jobs. We'll invest in the infrastructure that matters most, like upgrading schools and building fast rail to Melbourne. ... 12,000 new social housing homes will be built, including in Geelong. This Budget will get the economy back on track while making sure nobody is left behind.
24.01.2022 We're supporting 300 young Victorians into apprenticeships and traineeships as part of our Working for Victoria Fund. We know that young people often bear the brunt of major job shocks and that’s why this is such a great opportunity. It'll help young people get a foot in the door, gain new skills and get on the path to a satisfying career.... Twelve-month opportunities will be offered in business administration, community services, sport and recreation, landscape gardening and building and maintenance.
23.01.2022 There's some huge news for Northern Bay College in next week's state budget. They'll be getting over $15 million to complete the next stage of their upgrade at the Goldsworthy Road campus. Every child in Victoria deserves a state of the art school, no matter which one they attend. ... This is one of 1460 school upgrades statewide investing in new classrooms, fixing up old buildings and more. Victoria is the education state and we're putting money to make sure it stays that way for many years to come.
23.01.2022 Thank you Netball Victoria for your support. Appreciate it very much.
23.01.2022 We loaned 71,000 devices to students across Victoria so they could learn from home during the pandemic. In the State Budget, we committed billions of dollars to education. That included funds to allow every one of those students to keep their device.... We'll cover the cost of reimbursing schools to replace the devices. This will allow those students to feel the benefits of having a device at home for a long time to come.
23.01.2022 Outdoor street dining is coming to Geelong. This is going to allow our great hospitality businesses to serve more customers in a COVID-safe way. It's also going to give customers a unique dining experience as we head into warmer weather.... To make this happen, we're giving the local council a $500,000 grant to put the necessary systems in place. We're also giving grants to businesses to buy things like umbrellas and outdoor furniture. I can't wait to try this and support our small businesses.
21.01.2022 I have been very open about my Parkinson's diagnosis because I know how important it is to raise awareness of this disease. Awareness can lead to people getting an early diagnosis and preventing unnecessary suffering. It can also lead to an increase in funding to develop potentially life-changing medicines.... Both of those reasons are why I'm an ambassador for an online fundraiser called 27forParkinsons. All you have to do is walk 27 times across 27 days from October 1st, raising money along the way. You can join my team and we can raise money together for the 27,000 Victorians living with Parkinson's every day. Donations are tax deductible. If you would like to join my walking team, please register yourself on below link and then join Team John Eren. https://www.parkinsonswalk.org.au/ Or, If would like to just donate without the walk go into below link. https://www.parkinsonswalk.org.au/my-fundr//team-john-eren Parkinson’s Victoria provide vital support, and any donation, no matter how small is greatly appreciated. Please forward onto your networks. Thanks for your support.
20.01.2022 With your help, I've put together this list of local small businesses that are still operating and need your help. Comment below if there are any more businesses I should add. Shopping locally is vital right now to help our small businesses get through this crisis.
20.01.2022 I joined Eddie McGuire to discuss 27forParkinson's an online fundraiser that begins today. I'm walking for 27 minutes each day for 27 days and I need your support to raise vital funds. Donations are tax deductible. ... If you would like to join my walking team, please register yourself here and then join Team John Eren: https://www.parkinsonswalk.org.au/. 15.01.2022 Condolences to the loved ones of #DeanJones and to his #Cricket family who are mourning the passing of a champion of the game. Taken suddenly and far to early by a silent killer cardiac arrest. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and all of his colleagues and fans.
14.01.2022 Our community will take a further step towards reopening tomorrow at 11:59 PM. This success comes down to the sacrifices of so many people and I thank you all.
13.01.2022 "We will be there for all Victorians through whatever happens". That's what I assured you of here in March when we announced the $500 million Working for Victoria fund. It was all about making the future a little less uncertain by providing jobs for people without work due to the pandemic.... Six months later, it has created over 850 jobs for residents of Greater Geelong and it's still hiring. Unfortunately we aren't at the end of hard times yet and it will take a lot of support to get the economy back on its feet. But this is proof that we'll do whatever we can to save livelihoods. That's my commitment to you.
13.01.2022 This package sends a clear message to our small business owners: you won't be left behind by the Victorian Government. Coming in at more than $3 billion, it is the biggest business support package in Victorian history. It takes the total of business support during the pandemic to more than $6 billion.... For our state to recover, we need our small businesses to recover too. This will go a long way to helping them do exactly that. Click here for more information: https://bit.ly/2ZwGuk7.

10.01.2022 Seeing our active case numbers drop this quickly makes me so proud to be a Geelong local. This is an incredible achievement, and it’s thanks to the sacrifices of so many people. Congratulations let’s keep working together to make sure case numbers stay low.
09.01.2022 Good luck in tonight’s qualifying final! #GoStorm
07.01.2022 Right now we can't travel as far as we normally can but we can still see the sights in our own backyard. Regional Victorians can travel within regional Victoria. People can book accomodation with the people they live with, their intimate partner, or their household bubble.... I'm encouraging people to come and see the beautiful You Yangs Regional Park and Serendip Sanctuary in our region.
06.01.2022 Today I'm reflecting on how much we've done for Victoria's pets since coming into government. We've banned puppy farms, made sure rental tenants can know the joy of having a furry friend and a whole lot more. Our pets bring us so much joy looking after them is just the right thing to do.
04.01.2022 Condolences to families of loved ones. We’re getting there. Keep up the great work people, we can do this. #UnitedAgainstCovid19 #WeCanDoThisTogether
04.01.2022 This was one of the best events that came to Victoria. Hopefully we can continue to be major events capital of the world post covid.
