25.01.2022 Taught the watercolour class at Frensham Summer School last week. Rain kept us mostly in the classroom but new overhead camera worked well and folk were able to get on with their work unhindered. We did 17 works in 5 days!

24.01.2022 Recovering after a busy teaching week at Mitchell School of Art, Bathurst. Terrific group - willing and brave and I worked them hard! The overhead camera worked a treat. Lights, camera, action......

23.01.2022 My new overhead camera and monitor are working well in my studio... and I can record the session as well! This is Tuesday night class - can you spot someone yawning?

23.01.2022 Sketching with fellow sketchers at Willoughby Symphony rehearsal last night with Kristian Chong at the piano. Thanks to WSO for arranging this.

22.01.2022 Had a beaut workshop with the Society of Artists, Newcastle yesterday. The theme was darks and lights in painting and they all shoved their sleeves up and got stuck into some tricky painting. They have a wonderful club house with overhead camera and all. Just too much fun to be legally having!

21.01.2022 Sketching with my Walking/sketching group in Callan Park yesterday - beautiful, old Victorian buildings and a great challenge to get the perspective right!

19.01.2022 I was inspired by my viewing of the Lloyd Rees exhibition currently at Museum of Sydney. He was the Master. He took me into his studio one day in 1975 and his words, advice and encouragement have never left me. I did this yesterday, Australia Day, in Centennial Park in memory of him.

18.01.2022 I have been looking back at some of my old sketchbooks and redoing some of the paintings, now Im older! Artists styles are always developing and the same scene can be interpreted in many different ways.

15.01.2022 Had a great weekend in Millers Point with my Walking/Sketching group. I threw some challenges at them and they were magnificent! Bravo everyone!

15.01.2022 Big thank you to Josh at Harvey Norman, Moore Park - he sorted out my overhead camera for demonstrations in the studio. I had bought the wrong video camera. They not only gave me a full credit against the new one, but also tested that it would do a split signal feed to SD Card and monitor. Great service!

14.01.2022 Just returned from teaching Winter School at Mitchell School of Arts, Bathurst. Amazing class - up for every challenge I threw at them. A dream to work with!

13.01.2022 These two ladies looked over my shoulder the whole weekend workshop and were completely unimpressed. We used the old dining hall of the Order of Mercy Nuns, St Catherines Convent, Singleton.

12.01.2022 Gorgeous day Saturday morning with Newcastle Sketchers down to the big smoke for a draw. Some locals joined in, including Rob Candy, drawing beautifully, as usual!

11.01.2022 Didnt like my first attempt - this has worked out a bit better.

11.01.2022 When a student presents a problem picture to me I find the best way to help is to do the picture myself and they can see the process. This one came out quite well in about 20 minutes.

10.01.2022 This from the hills behind Streatley looking down into the Thames Valley

09.01.2022 I will be teaching an intensive, week long residential class in watercolour at Mitchell School of Art, Bathurst, January 20-26, 2019.or more details http://www.artscenemsa.com.au/register.html

09.01.2022 A student asked me to look at a scene he was struggling with today. The best way to instruct was to actually paint it myself. Here s how it turned out - Henty Sand Dunes in Tasmania.

07.01.2022 Just run a 2-day workshop with the Central Coast Watercolour Society, The Entrance. Boy! Did they work hard! Eleven exercises and paintings in two days. Here are some of them, including a session on How to paint like JMW Turner. Great bunch of willing folk. Thank you. I really enjoyed myself.

07.01.2022 Took a courageous group of sketchers to Surry Hills yesterday, dealing with trees, shadows, lace-work, cars, changing light. They were magnificent!

06.01.2022 Did a quick sketch in Henley today, beside the Thames. So cold I could not feel my fingers. Had to beat a retreat to the car.

06.01.2022 Julie invited a few of us over to sketch from her balcony, Saturday morning.

04.01.2022 Sketching at Sydney Fish Markets yesterday with Sydney Urban Sketchers. I wasnt really allowed on the wharf but the Italian owners of the boats, all seemingly related, said I could be one of them. And since they declared they came from the same part of Italy where the Mafia came from - I agreed to be adopted for the morning!
