24.01.2022 This holiday season we’re helping vulnerable Sydney families celebrate with loved ones and friends. Our WestConnex Rozelle Interchange project team has raised more $48,000 for local charities, and collected nearly 800 presents for disadvantaged children across Sydney, in support of the Smith Family Toy and Book Appeal. The close-knit team smashed their initial goal of $10,000 and 200 presents with the help of workers, subcontractors and the local Rozelle community.... Rozelle Interchange, like all of our projects, is committed to giving back to the communities we work in. 24.01.2022 Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport infrastructure project. We recently completed the underground caverns for Sydney’s new metro station at Martin Place, on behalf of the NSW Government. This is how we delivered Sydney Metro’s new home in Australia’s commercial capital.... In under two years our JHCPBG Joint Venture excavated about 126,000 tonnes of rock from the two caverns and installed more than 5,500 tonnes of steel. The colossal caverns are located 28 metres below Castlereagh and Elizabeth streets and are 220 metres long. The smooth finished lining of the caverns required more than 21,500 tonnes of concrete. Nine tunnels have also been built to connect commuters to the new station entrances as well as to the end of the platforms at the existing Martin Place Station. #johnholland #challengeaccepted #sydney #metro #infrastructure #megaprojects #construction #publictransport #project #engineering

23.01.2022 Every day, millions of Sydneysiders spend hours commuting. Each minute we lose to traffic is a precious moment better spent with our friends, family and loved ones. Today we’re thrilled to announce a transformative project for Sydney commuters.... John Holland has been awarded a contract to deliver the toll-free Sydney Gateway motorway, transforming how people move across Australia’s largest city, on behalf of the NSW Government. In partnership with Seymour Whyte, we will provide a missing link in Sydney’s motorway network, making the city better connected than ever before. Sydney Gateway will link the city’s airport precinct, Port Botany and the surrounding road network to the newly opened St Peters Interchange. The project will support over 4,000 local jobs, as our nation recovers from the pandemic, and slash travel time for commuters across Sydney. With a capacity to carry 100,000 vehicles a day, Sydney Gateway will, with support from WestConnex, cut up to 40 minutes of travel time for motorists from Parramatta to the Airport, returning local roads to local communities. For more than 70 years, John Holland has been delivering the infrastructure and service that have helped power Australia.

21.01.2022 The final 166 concrete segments have now been installed on the new Batemans Bay Bridge project, marking a major milestone for our team. The last segments were installed 64 years to the day after the existing bridge was officially opened. Our project team will now proceed with finishing works including laying pavement and installing traffic safety barriers.... John Holland is delivering the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project on behalf of the NSW Government. When the project is complete, the community will benefit from less congestion at key pinch points in and around Batemans Bay. The project will reduce economic and social impacts caused by the lift span and current load limit of the existing bridge.

We can’t wait ‘til its safe for us to all be together again. 180 Flinders incorporates the existing heritage façade, paying homage to the city’s famous architecture, complimented with the latest in modern design.... John Holland recently completed construction of the office tower and retail precinct for Dexus, and is the anchor tenant. Just metres from Flinders Street Station, 180 Flinders has sweeping views overlooking Federation Square and the Botanic Gardens and breathes new life into a heritage building. More than 70 years ago Sir John Holland founded our business in Victoria. While we have grown to become Victoria’s largest construction and engineering group, we remain committed to helping deliver the infrastructure, jobs and services that will benefit Victorians for generations to come.

17.01.2022 We’re excited to have recently completed upgrading one of Western Australia’s most critical pieces of infrastructure - the Eastern Goldfields Railway. The track is the main interstate line between WA and the Eastern States - carrying grain, freight and passenger services for more than 100 years. Our industry leading rail team replaced a 15 kilometre section of life-expired track near Toodyay on behalf Arc Infrastructure, continuing a strong working relationship spanning more ...than two decades. Curious to know how the team did it? After taking possession of the track, the team removed the old section of rail line prior to welding the new track together at more than 1,000 degrees. When the appropriate temperature is reached, grinding equipment is used to make sure the surface is smooth, before an engineer checks and signs off on the work. This process happens every 110 metres and every step is meticulously recorded. Our fantastic project team have even played wildlife rescuers, saving a duckling which had become trapped on the tracks and later a long-neck turtle in a similar predicament. Well done to all involved in delivering this project on time and on budget!

16.01.2022 In Victoria, our North Western Program Alliance team continues to mark one milestone after another. The Glenroy Level Crossing Removal project team recently launched a new Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at Waterloo Road. The TBM has commenced the 350 metre long micro tunnel, for a stormwater pipe that will drain water from the new rail trench, connecting to the existing stormwater network.... A figurine of St Barbara, the Patron Saint of Tunnelling has been placed at the launch shaft to keep the team safe in the coming months. #johnholland #challengeaccepted #infrastructure #tunnelling #project #rail #construction #melbourne

13.01.2022 Take a look inside Sydney Metro's finished Crows Nest Station box. John Holland, along with our joint venture partners, has delivered the excavation and civil works for six new metro stations, including Crows Nest. More than 365,000 tonnes of crushed rock was excavated to get to the station’s final depth of 25 metres.... Crows Nest will be the first stop for metro services leaving Chatswood towards the Sydney CBD when Sydney Metro is extended from the North West in 2024. #johnholland #challengeaccepted #construction #sydney #engineering #metro #transport #australia #infrastructure

12.01.2022 John Holland is proud to be helping deliver Australia's once-in-a-generation infrastructure boom. 12.01.2022 This week marked a momentous occasion for the Bell to Moreland level crossing removal team in Melbourne, with the first passenger train passing over the new rail bridge between Brunswick and Coburg on the Upfield line. This major milestone marked the end of our rail occupation, the largest in Victorian history. The Bell to Moreland project has produced many firsts, not only for the Level Crossing Removal Project program, but innovations that will be used across our industry f...or years to come. With all major rail work complete, our focus now turns to finishing the new Coburg and Moreland station buildings by mid-December and delivering the 2.5kms of community open space next year. 04.01.2022 Unprecedented. Challenging. Unique. This year was like no other. So we made a video time capsule to record our experiences throughout 2020.... Across Australia our people learned to moonlight as teachers, audio-visual technicians and medical commentators. Terminology such as flattening the curve and social distancing became ingrained in our everyday lexicon. Bookended by tragic bushfires and the reopening of state borders, with a national lockdown and a Victorian second wave in between. But throughout it all, our people and projects came together. By implementing world-leading pandemic safety practices John Holland sites remained opened. Here are some of our achievements during this unforgettable year. From all of us at John Holland, we wish everyone a wonderful break with your loved ones. 2021. Challenge Accepted.

03.01.2022 Yarn Ba (Hello), My name is Marcia McGuire, and I am from the Whadjuk, Ballardong and Yamatji Noongar tribes from Western Australia. Each year NAIDOC week's meaning to me changes or evolves into something new and different.... Eight years ago, when I first joined John Holland as a trainee, it meant celebrating my culture and seeing my family dance, do smoking ceremonies and welcomes all over Perth. Now, it’s about celebrating, learning and teaching my children and peers about my ancestors, culture and where we are going as a nation. Through my small art business Maali Aboriginal Designs, I create art so that it can be displayed almost on anything and anywhere and through John Holland I’ve had the opportunity to incorporate my people’s culture into everyday living of our Australians. As a decedent of a nation that was the first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. It truly makes me proud, inspired, passionate and excited to see what my people can do in this world and to know we haven’t left, we are still here, and we always will be that even after all the trauma my people have suffered we are still strong and still going forward and bringing our culture back. #naidoc #always #reconciliation
