18.01.2022 After just returning from another trip to the South West region of the USA, this article is a timely reminder of knowing your limits and taking responsibility for your personal safety in a foreign place. One of my favourite things whilst shooting is taking it to the limit to get the shot I want. I've uploaded many a photo of myself, legs hanging precariously off a cliff, or my camera, but I do so after much consideration and planning. Recently in the Zion National Park ther...e are many warnings that state "Your personal safety is your responsibility" which is somewhat different to here in most popular Australian destinations, with guard rails or warning signs to turn around, where we expect to be told if an area is dangerous and shouldn't continue. Not to disrespect individuals in the article, but I've witnessed many cases whilst out shooting of people pushing the limits to get there perfect shot, countless people jumping guard rails at the 12 apostles onto crumbling sandstone that if you look at the coast line collapses regularly. Karijini National Park clearly state areas that people have been, severely injured or died and no one should proceed without guides and safety equipment. Its in these moments where I shake my head because people don't use theirs. I think the worst possible outcome from any mishap would be that of the rescue volunteer that died after rescuing a tourist that pushed it too far, this is the first thing on my mind any time I think about taking it to the edge.

09.01.2022 So I'm too sure why, but this has been sitting in a folder in a cupboard waiting to be scanned. Possibly the most impress place I visited during a once in a lifetime trip. Two hours on a dirt road with no signs. The National Parks Service advises that 25% of all people that travel to this location will get a flat tyre, for that fact along is why this place is so untouched. No tourists, no guard rails, no souvenir stands. That is 880 metres above the Colorado river, nothing ...but silence and the vast grandeur that presents itself all around, makes this place incredibly special to witness. Would you stand at the edge of a 880m drop off to get a view like this? Shares and Page Likes make a big difference. Thanks. #southwestusa #grandcanyon #Arizona #NorthRim John H Wood Photography

07.01.2022 Here is a shot I took recently during a trip to the USA along the California Coast line in Big Sur. It is something a little different for me but saw so much amazing coastline I wanted to capture the coast, the water and the rocks that protrude from the ocean. What to do you think?... Likes and Shares are appreciated. #bigsur #newlandscape

03.01.2022 Being jetlagged seems to have its advantages. What else to do at 4am, but edit some back catalog. This is shot taken by my dad during a trip to Botswana in 2011. "The leader of the pack"

02.01.2022 Back in the Victorian country side. In a sea of golden fields.
