25.01.2022 End of an era in Australian manufacturing.
25.01.2022 CHRISTMAS 2019 Once again it's that time of year when our thoughts turn to our families and friends . I wish you , your families and friends a Holy and Happy Christmas . May the joy and peace of the birth of Christ be with you all . My thoughts now turn to the many people and causes that I came in contact with during my public life . 1 . Our farmers and their families , friends and communities impacted by the Murray Darling Basin Plan and those affected by floods , drought ...and fire . 2. The Essendon players who were denied a fair go . 3. Those affected by Lyme disease and or Lyme like illness 4 . Those children , mothers and fathers their grandparents and extended family who are torn apart by the Family Court . 5. The women and men of the Australian services who serve in our our armed forces , those who are injured and who pay the ultimate price of their life . 6. Those Australian's suffering from unemployment , mental health issues Please don't give up where there is life there is hope . Thank you to the many people who continue to keep me in their prayers whilst I continue to battle cancer , my family and I appreciate it greatly . May the joy and peace of Christmas be with you all . As always I welcome your thoughts Regards John
24.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS The effect of CORONAVIRUS on the world community has and continues to be devastating . The effects on Australians and Australia are shocking , please God we will prevail and come through this testing time . I was listening to the news in the past couple of days and heard it mentioned that there will not be enough ventilators for patients suffering from the virus . One thing that is obvious is that we as a nation are over reliant on foreign sources , China for ex...ample for basic necessities . The shortages we are experiencing should be addressed immediately , we have incredibly talented and capable men and women with engineering and industrial design ability who should be engaged for the good of Australians and Australia . Make no mistake about it , contrary to doubting Thomas politicians and economic rationalists we as a nation have in the past risen to the challenge and can do so once again if we but call on these people and give them their tasks with the backing of the nation . This would deliver real jobs , real prosperity and help our fellow Australians . As always I welcome your thoughts , God bless Australia Warm Regards John
24.01.2022 THE MURRAY DARLING BASIN PLAN 2019 Tonight on SkyNews , Jan Beer from Yea in Victoria spoke to PETA Credlin about the disaster called the MDBP. Jan spoke passionately about the effects of the plan on food security , communities , our farmers and their families . I have personally witnessed the harm to people , communities and the enviroment whilst I was a Senator for Victoria 2011 - 2016 and am disgusted that these useless bastards in State and Federal Governments lack the gu...Continue reading
23.01.2022 THE SHAMBLES IN THE BUILDING IDUSTRY Over the past week the media have reported about the Opal Tower in Sydney residents having to leave their homes whilst the developer and so called authorities investigate the alleged structural movement - cracking. This failure of the so called authorities to protect consumers is totally unacceptable ! Why do you ask ? The reason is there are so called building regulations - product compliance standards that apply to plumbing, electrical a...Continue reading
23.01.2022 It's an election year in Victoria, what needs changing or repealing, any comments on the staus quo in Victoria? admin
20.01.2022 CABINET DOCUMENTS FOUND IN CANBERRA SHOP This mornings ABC NEWS has reported the contents of a filing cabinet containing CABINET DOCUMENTS from during the RUDD GOVERNMENT. Concerns have been raised repeatedly in Parliament over privacy of information held by Government and Private organisations. Repeatedly we have been told that our private information is safe, that there are measures in place to protect our private information.... I had and still have grave concerns about the security of private information - data in this country. I have little faith in the guarantees repeatedly given by successive governments of all persuasions. In light of the recent revelations that Federal Cabinet documents are not secure, what hope have we the average punters got? If paper files can't be secured, what hope is there for files held in computers all around Australia? As always I welcome your comments. Regards John.
20.01.2022 FAMILY COURT INQUIRY 2019 I welcome the announcement of the inquiry in to the Family Court announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to be chaired by Kevin Andrews . I truly hope that this inquiry will get to the truth of the harm that is occurring to children , their parents ( men and women ) grandparents and extended family and the Australian community .... I hope and pray that all of you , your family and.friends especially our children will get justice finally from this inquiry . That this inquiry will lead to the long overdue reform of Family Law in Australia that is not so adversarial and tainted by children being used as pawns and that encourages perjury ! It is a terrible thing when relationships breakdown , but to lie about someone is a crime and cannot be condoned ! The ends do not justify the means. Please don't give up on your children they need their mother and father ! As always I welcome your thoughts . Regards John
16.01.2022 WHEN WILL THESE SELF ABSORBED NIT WITS START ACTING LIKE ADULTS AND GOVERN THE COUNTRY IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF AUSTRALIANS ? There are many issues that need addressing that continue to be ignored or used as political footballs whilst people and the nation suffer. 1. Drought affected farmers and communities need real help ! 2. The Family Court needs to be overhauled there are far too many children, women and men whose lives are being destroyed. Enough is enough, this is a cat...astrophe ! Government sanctioned perjury ! 3. The Murray Darling Plan is a government sanctioned disaster on steroids. 4. The problems facing our dairy farmers are not resolved despite all the spin from government and vested interests. 5. A country is what a country makes ! Despite what we are told there are countless Australian manufacturers that manufacture world class products not to forget our farmers and food processors. They need our support and that of our government. We need procurement policies that give Australian manufactured goods the opportunity to compete that takes into account what they contribute to our country by way of jobs, taxation, quality - longevity , balance of trade, the environment etc. 6. Research into Lyme disease - Lyme like illness and compassion instead of ridicule. 7. Credible Australian standards for building products so they are fit for purpose with proactive enforcement of the law to crack down on dodgy building and plumbing products. Crack down on dodgy builders with people who are not trained to perform building works competently and choose the correct materials needed. Fine repeat offenders and get rid of them out of the industry to protect consumers and the reputable builders and tradespeople. How about just doing the honourable thing and working for the benefit of the people and the nation not vested interests and political gain. Our young people need hope, encouragement and leadership. I welcome your thoughts. Regards John Madigan
15.01.2022 INTEGRITY PREVAILS - DONT LOSE HOPE ! During my time in private and public life, I have met many people who have inspired me with their honesty, compassion, ability, and regard for others around them. One of those is Father Frank Smith is a Redemptorist Priest who established the Exodus Community in Wendouree West ( Ballarat ). Father Frank's example of compassion, patience, and love has had a positive outcome on many lives. He retires today from the Exodus Community a humble..., much respected and loved priest who has led an exemplary life. My mind now turn to those who are never far from my thoughts. 1. Our farmers and their families and the communities of the Murray Darling Basin 2. The women, men and children and their extended families who have been through the mincer of the so called Family Court. The issue of perjury ( lies told about either partner, male or female ) must be addressed. 3. Those men, women and children suffering from Lyme disease and or Lyme like illness. They need help, not ridicule and indifference. 4. Those people who have had the misfortune of purchasing a new home, or had renovations done to an existing home that have not fit for purpose building, plumbing or electrical fittings or work that has been performed that is not to regulation and who have been left high and dry by the so called authorities like the VBA. 5. Those farmers and communities being ravaged by drought once again gripping Australia. 6. Those people who have been ripped off by the unscrupulous, illegal actions of the banks etc. 7. Those people suffering from the effects from wind farms. The results from Bald Hills in South Gippsland reported in the media this week are vindication for you all ! 8. Our young people who aspire to a life of meaningful work and self worth. We all must encourage and nurture our young people. 9. Those people who feel that suicide is their only option. We all must make a conscience effort to be on the look out for our family members , friends and acquaintances. EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS. 10. That our political leaders put Australia and Australians first and foremost in their thoughts and final decisions. That they don't sell us out to predators whether foreign or domestic. That we hand Australia on to future generations at least as good as we received it, hopefully better socially, economically and environmentally with our sovereignty intact and our peoples lives enhanced with compassion. And finally I am half way through my initial chemotherapy for bowel and liver cancer. My family and I appreciate the countless cards, letters and phone calls, emails etc that I have received from many people across Australia. I sincerely appreciate your kind thoughts and encouragement. As always I welcome your thoughts, I hope you all have a great weekend. Regards John Madigan
14.01.2022 If you live in Victoria what do you think of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA)?
14.01.2022 SEPTEMBER 2017 Last night I was reflecting on the year to date and where we are as a country. Federal Parliament is becoming more and more dysfunctional and further removed from the people and their concerns and needs. The Victorian Parliament is no better. Many people I speak to say we deserve better. I say we all need to take responsibility for who is elected to Parliament. The politicians that represent us were elected by the people. There are many issues that desperately n...Continue reading
12.01.2022 CHRISTMAS 2018 As I reflect on the past year many challenges come to mind for us all as a country and individuals. Despite the challenges we live in a wonderful country with amazingly resilient people. Many Australians have experienced yet again this year the scourges of drought and bushfires across regional and rural Australia, yet remain optimistic about the future. I remain deeply concerned about the continued sell off of our land, natural resources and infrastructure. The...se foreign predators, investors, purchasers are not philanthropists, they are only interested on a return on their investment not Australians long term social and economic interests. Australian Superannuation funds should be invested in Australia to build our infrastructure not money sourced from foreign sources such as the alleged deal done by the Andrews Victorian Government with the Chinese Government or entities.I don't dispute that Victoria desperately needs investment in infrastructure, just that we should fund our own development by the people for the benefit of the people, free from foreign influence or interference. My thoughts now turn to those continuing to suffer from Lyme disease or Lyme like illness, individuals who have been through the mincer of the Family Court, men, women and especially children suffering from parental alienation. The people and communities of the Murray Darling Basin regardless of where they are in VIC, NSW, ACT, QLD, SA AND NSW. Why do we allow some ideologues to inflict misery and devastation on our fellow Australians in the basin ? Man made drought and destruction. One of the greatest challenges we face as a country is people's loss of faith in our institutions both public and private. State and Federal Government, our elected representatives, the betrayal of trust by some in our Churches against the most vulnerable in society our children. These crimes against children must be exposed and the offenders brought to justice. Earlier this year in June - July I found myself in hospital in Ballarat with bowel and liver cancer as many of you already know. I am and will be forever grateful for the care I have received from the nurses and surgeons and medical staff at the Ballarat Base Hospital. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I found myself back in the BBH for 22 days over the past month and once again the staff at BBH excelled. I hope and pray that I will recover and kick this cancer to the kerb, so far so good ! Don't forget to tell your children you love them for they need to be reminded every day ! My Christmas wish for you all is that you experience the peace and joy of the birth of Christ, and that your family and friends share in this great gift along with all Australians. Please remember every life is precious and unique. God bless Australia. Happy Christmas Regards John
10.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR As I reflect on 2019 my thoughts this evening are with those who have suffered from bushfires and currently are in the midst of bushfires as 2019 draws to a close . My thoughts and prayers are with these people this evening and our brave firefighters and emergency personnel . I hope and pray that we all have empathy and compassion for those less fortunate than us . I hope and pray that our young people have a sense of self worth and gainful employment .... I hope and pray that we value every life . I hope and pray that all Australians have good health mentally and physically . I hope and pray that all Australians experience peace and tolerance and extend it to eachother . Wishing you , your family and friends a Happy and safe 2020 , may God bless Australia . Regards John As always I welcome your thoughts , stay safe , cherish your family !
09.01.2022 AUSTRALIA 2019 It' has been a while since I last posted something , well here we go if anyone is interested ? 1. On Sunday last week the 26th May I attended a book launch in South Melbourne titled " Mum's THE WORD " by Karen Varney. This book is mandatory reading for all people who care about our children and our society . The women who have shared their stories are inspirational and not driven by hate , but by love for their children . Thanks for the invitation ladies and yo...Continue reading
09.01.2022 NATIONAL INTEGRITY COMMISSION Yesterday it was reported in the media that the Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten would introduce a National Integrity Commission if Labor wins the next federal election. We then saw the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull pour cold water on the idea and the Opposition Leader. Where does this new found fervour for a NIC come from?... Back in 2016, former Senator Wang WA and I moved a motion in the Senate that established the Senate Select Committee on the establishment of a National Integrity Commission. The Committee had two public hearings on the 21st April 2016 in Canberra and the 28th April 2016 in Sydney, the committee had to produce an interim report due to the fact of the impending double dissolution election in 2016. The Committee was chaired by my co-sponsor of the original motion former Senator Wang. I believed prior to the Committee that there was a desperate need for an NIC. Having heard the submissions presented to the Commitee only made me more resolute. Now some 21 months later and time to reflect and observe Canberra from afar once more , I believe we need a NIC sooner than later. The proposed NIC needs to be beyond reproach, fearless and accountable to the Australian people. During my time as a Senator for Victoria in Canberra I met many genuine members of the public and public service. Many of these people were dismayed with where we going as a nation. They wanted and deserved to have faith in our system of government and their representatives, yet what they experienced was a lack of integrity, disingenuous promises and a win at any cost mentality. Whilst I welcome the establishment of a NIC the devil is in the detail and as often is the case there is a lack of detail. The question is this :Do Malcolm Turnbull (COALITION) and Bill Shorten (ALP) really believe in accountability, transparency, honesty that is INTEGRITY or not ? We are all responsible for who is elected to represent us and govern our country. Without people of integrity being elected to Parliament regardless of their politics, Australia is doomed ! I suspect that they believe that the ends justifies the means. It may be legal Malcolm and Bill but is it ethical? The NIC needs to hold to account the unions, politicians and political parties, the judiciary, the police, banks, insurance companies, super annuation funds, the medical profession, businesses small, medium and large, employer groups and lobbyists. The whole lot ! Illegal, corrupt behaviour must be stamped out everywhere it exists not just where it suits one side of politics or the other. As always I welcome your comments, have a great week. Regards John.
07.01.2022 The standard of public debate and behaviour continues to plummet to new lows. If we continue to justify our own behaviour by pointing to the bad behaviour of others, where will it end ? We can have different opinions and respect the right of others to express their opinion. We all must vehemently defend the right of all Australians to express their opinion whether we agree with them or not.If you disagree on an issue engage in respectful discussion and express your opinion an...d your rationale, please don't denigrate and seek to shut down debate. I was glad to hear that the new frigate contract has finally been awarded to BAE and that the ships will be built in Australia. I hope that we get maximum Australian material content, employment and technology transfer. ln recent weeks I found myself in hospital with bowel cancer, one hell of a shock. I am so thankful to the Ballarat Base Hospital emergency department doctors and nurses who cared for me on arrival. The Surgeon and her team along with the nurses and all the staff who have cared for me so far. I am so grateful for your skill, compassion and empathy. My thoughts now turn to those suffering from Lyme disease and or Lyme like illness, the men, women and especially children who are suffering due to injustices in the Family Court system. Our farmers across Australia in the dairy industry and the individuals and communities across the Murray Darling Basin just to name a couple of groups of the farming community who need our support. All Australians who yearn for the dignity of work especially our young people who need and deserve a sense of self worth. Please think about what you purchase and how that affects your fellow Australians and Australia. Whatever the future may hold I am grateful for the opportunity I had to represent the people of Victoria and I hope that I made a difference. Regards John Madigan
06.01.2022 CHRISTMAS MORNING 2017 Wishing you all and your families a Happy and Holy Christmas. I hope that those of us who have faced challenges and suffering find peace and joy. May God bless Australia. Regards John.
06.01.2022 To all John's supporters, On behalf of my family I would like to express our deep gratitude for the immense support and love shown from many who supported John. His funeral took place yesterday at St Patrick's Cathedral in Ballarat, Victoria with close friends and family.... Here is the video of the service on YouTube for those who would like to watch it: https://youtu.be/k9XeyR4E6KM At a later date, a public memorial will be held when COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in place. Details will follow. Once again thank you for all the touching tributes and support. Jack
06.01.2022 When will our elected representatives start acting in Australian's best interests? When will our elected representatives stop selling the current generations' and future generations' out to foreign predators? When will our elected representatives just do the right thing and put Australia first?... Its not rocket science, it just requires common sense and integrity. Two commodities that seem to be in short supply. God help Australia! I welcome your thoughts. Regards John
05.01.2022 AUSTRALIA'S NATURAL RESOURCES This morning I noticed that LPG was 85.9 cents per litre at the Shell on the corner of Sturt Street and Drummond Street Ballarat. I then started to question why succesive Australian governments have allowed our resources to be sold to our foreign competitors for less than an Australian consumer or company can purchase the same resources. We are continually screwed, we are charged whatever they believe the market will pay. The current government i...s hell bent on building a railway line for the ADANI MINE. Why on earth should we be paying to build a railway line to transport our coal for the ADANI MINE or any other foreign business ? How much tax and how many jobs for Australians will be created as a result of Australian's paying for this proposed railway line ? Why does the government bend over backwards to assist foreign businesses and not afford the same assistance to Australian owned businesses ? Why have successive Australian governments squandered our few competitive advantages such as abundant, affordable and reliable electricity and gas ? Why have successive Australian governments sprouted this crap about free trade - fair trade when they wont compare apples with apples ? Why on earth do people keep encouraging these traitors ? As always I welcome your thoughts, have a great weekend. Regards John.
03.01.2022 To all John’s supporters, John sadly passed away early this morning with his wife Teresa and children Lucy and Jack by his side. His two-year battle with cancer peacefully ended in palliative care. ... He was a generous and compassionate man who gave his life to the greater good and had great faith in the people of Australia. He was incredibly grateful and honoured to have received such immense support from many communities. He considered his time in Parliament a privilege and he sought always to discharge his duty to all Victorians, regardless of their political persuasion and found the ability to give the voiceless a voice an honour. Right until the very end John was determined to make the most of his life and ensured that his family would not have to face hardship after his death. He dedicated his time in Parliament to fighting for the unheard and neglected. He strongly believed in the sanctity of life and fought hard for it. His unwavering empathy and vulnerability made him a person who many Australians could trust. One of the most creditable aspects of John in the eyes of almost all to whom he spoke, was his honesty and his sincerity, which gave people confidence that he was truly listening and he had truly heard their voice. John spent his last years spending time with his family and getting back to his metal-work. Although he no longer held his position, he continued to spend time fighting for those facing challenges which was an exemplar of his dedication to helping those less fortunate. He will be dearly missed. Due to COVID-19 regulations a private funeral will be held with invitees only. A recording of the service will be available at a later date. Please share with communities John dedicated time to. John Joseph Madigan 21/7/1966 - 16/6/2020 Sincerely, Teresa, Lucy, Jack & family
