23.01.2022 Today was my last Remembrance Day as Member for South Perth and I attended the ceremony held by the RSL at the City of South Perth war memorial. The Aquinas College choir sang the national anthem and also did an emotional rendition of I Am Australian while Aquinas' bugler Rory Watson played the Last Post. RSL stalwart Justin Regan read the ode in front of a big crowd of veterans, constituents and school children.... With me are Kate Doust MLC, former mayor John Collins AM, Wing Commander Glen Cridland and current mayor Greg Milner.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to the City of South Perth which this morning commemorated Hiroshima Day by planting a six-year-old sapling, grown from the seeds of a Gingko Biloba tree which survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. As part of the Mayors for Peace program, City of South Perth mayor Greg Milner and nursery supervisor John Murray planted the sapling, one of six germinated from the seeds. 20.01.2022 Congratulations to Bill Grayden AM, a legend of Western Australian politics who turns 100 today. Bill was the Member for South Perth from 1956 until 1993 and a Minister in the Charles Court Government from 1974-82. Always a champion for his electorate, Bill was responsible for the formation of the South Perth Senior Citizens’ Centre in 1961 and served for 50 years as its chairman. PICS: South Perth Senior Citizens supervisor Margaret Evans with Bill Grayden AM last year and me with Bill in earlier days.

18.01.2022 Speaking today at the official opening of the Manning Road on-ramp with Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and Swan MHR Steve Irons.

16.01.2022 Wesley College student Ryan Spencer began work experience at my office today and is already creating an impression with his research skills. Ryan lives in Kensington and is in Year 10. He said he became interested in politics during the 2013 Federal Election, won by the Liberal coalition led by Tony Abbott. ... Ryan was eight years old but said he became absorbed with the complex data about the seats being presented by Antony Green on the ABC coverage and has since closely watched political events.

14.01.2022 The City of South Perth is looking for feedback from ratepayers on its plan for a regional scale Recreation and Aquatic Facility (RAF). The city informs me they have already received more than 600 returned surveys since first putting them on their website late last week. It is important the survey gets a strong response, consistent with the views of all ratepayers and I urge you to have your say on this major council project. ... Plans for the RAF, to be located adjacent to Collier Park Golf Course, include traditional swimming pools, hydrotherapy pool and indoor sports courts operating alongside research and education programs. It is proposed that public health programs delivered at the facility will assist the shift from hospital to community care and rehabilitation. The project’s business case will be considered at council’s October meeting. To provide your opinion, please see the following link to a survey to help the council make an informed decision and gauge the level of stakeholder support for the project. A promotional video link is also attached with information about the plan. Promotional video: https://youtu.be/MOQ10QziRgQ Unique survey link: https://survey.websurveycreator.com/s/RAFSurvey_Pol The survey closes at: 4pm Wednesday 23 September 2020

13.01.2022 It was a pleasure to join Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and Swan MHR Steve Irons this morning at the official opening of the long-awaited on-ramp to Kwinana Freeway from Manning Road. Up to 7000 vehicles a day are expected to use the ramp to head southbound on the freeway. Congratulations to Main Roads WA and BMD Construction for completing the project ahead of schedule.

09.01.2022 It has been 22 years in the making but the faithfully restored B Class electric tram that used to run along Mends Street, South Perth, and up to Como between 1922 and 1950 will soon be on display in Windsor Park. Congratulations to the City of South Perth, the South Perth Historical Society and the volunteers of the Perth Electric Tram society for their work on the restoration which will enable another aspect of our city’s rich history to be preserved.

09.01.2022 South Perth has lost its ANZ branch in Angelo Street which is a shame. While we understand the world is heading towards indirect banking, the South Perth demographic would have many customers who enjoy the personal contact of their local branch. ANZ manager Adam Siddique has been in touch with my office to say Angelo Street branch closed permanently as of yesterday..... Adam said he is happy to talk with any customers about the closure, what it may mean to them and alternate branch options. His number is 0407 473 630.

07.01.2022 Saturday morning provides an opportunity for the electorate of South Perth to find out what they would like to know about the proposed Recreational and Aquatic Facility (RAF). Residents can visit the South Perth City Hall between 10am and 2pm to hear from the project team and architects about the RAF, proposed for Collier Park Golf Course. There will be visual information displayed and a question-and-answer period so I urge members of the electorate to avail themselves of the... opportunity to find out more about this major project. Recreation and Aquatic Facility Community Information Day 10am-2pm Saturday, 12 September South Perth City Hall (at the Council offices)

04.01.2022 I was delighted to join children, parents and educators for National Tree Day at Gowrie Early Learning Centre in Karawara. The children told me what they had been learning this week before Elijah helped me plant a tree.
