24.01.2022 I’m sharing this again as it was one of the last posts that I shared on my old Facebook page I’m sharing this as it is forty years since my father Sergeant Pat Collins retired from The Queensland Police Force. Dad was a true gentleman. Honest and straight down the line.He was a strong tough man that had the respect of everyone that knew him.

24.01.2022 Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Proserpine Lions Club 2020 Lions Youth Of The Year. It always is a great event to attend. The caliber of the students participating never ceases to amaze. We often hear a lot about the behaviour and attitude of our youth. However after attending last nights function, I assure you that there are some really amazing young adults attending our Schools in Proserpine. There were six students speaking last night, Theo, Crystal, Bront...e,Caitrin, Charlotte and Bella. Congratulations to all six students, you’ve done your Schools, your Parents and yourselves proud. Well done to all. The judges Michael, Nerine and Nicolle had the hard job of picking a winner. Last nights winner was Bella, congratulations and well done. Many thanks to the Proserpine Lions Club, in particular Joe Little and David Hinschen for running another fantastic evening. Authorised by John W Collins 33 Sterry Street.Proserpine See more

23.01.2022 As a local broadcast and media company located in the Whitsundays..and while Governments and RTO's squabble for weeks about how best to get people here and who ...is getting a slice of the money pie.. and other media attempt to put the Whitsundays down we're going to buck the trend: 1. The Whitsundays are open for business! 2. The reef is not dead or dying - it's alive, vibrant and as beautiful as ever! 3. The tours and tour operators in the Whitsundays are World class and are eager to share our magnificent back and front yard with you right now! 3. The accommodation houses, bars, restaurants, live venues, pubs and caravan parks are all open and will provide you with some of the best experiences you will have! 4. Air fares to and from the Whitsundays right now are some of the cheapest you will find. 5. We are in our wet season - it doesn't rain all day - if you and your family have never experienced warm rain from a tropical sky now is your chance - it's something you will cherish for life! 6. We have toilet paper! 7. If flying is not an option you can get here by rail or drive very cheaply....the journey is part of the fun! 8. We have a swimming lagoon, water parks, one of the best stocked Barra fishing dams in Australia, beautiful water falls, treks, walking trails, mine experiences, flying experiences, boat experiences, diving experiences, fishing experiences, unique fashion houses, sailing experiences, crocodile experiences....it's endless... you name it you'll find it in the Whitsundays! So share this to your friends and stop listening to the doom and gloom of other media outlets - get yourself to the Whitsundays...and you never know....like many others, you might never leave! The Whitsundays - we love it - and we know you will too! #Islandfmwhitsundays #everythingwhitsundays See more

22.01.2022 Had the pleasure of attending the sod-turning ceremony this morning to mark the construction start of the new Performing Arts Centre at the Proserpine State High School, also had the official opening of the new $8.3m Learning Centre by Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert, on behalf of the State Education Minister. A magnificent building, well done to all those involved in the planning and construction process. It’s great that the State Government has shown confidence in our region to upgrade the facilities at the local school. It was, as always, a wonderful event put on by the Student Leaders, Principal Don McDermid, Teachers and staff. Thanks to all involved. 22.01.2022 G’Day all, Unfortunately, my personal Facebook profile and my Council Facebook page, John Collins Deputy Mayor Whitsunday Regional Council, has been hacked and disabled. I am disheartened to say that I have been unable to recover these accounts with Facebook. I’m very disappointed to have lost a lot of proud moments and countless achievements for Proserpine and the greater Whitsunday Region over the past eight years. And personally, a lot of precious family moments that I wi...Continue reading

09.01.2022 Couple of photos of Team John Sarge Collins from four years ago. Jill is getting better looking every year. Been so much happen over these last four years. Cyclone, Monsoonal events, Drought conditions and rebuilds. It’s been one hard slog for many people, particularly after Cyclone Debbie. Having been through every Cyclone in the Whitsunday’s since the late 1960’s. Debbie certainly was an eye opener, particularly for me as I was Deputy Chair of the local Disaster Managemen...t Group and was Chairperson of the Local Disaster Management Recovery Group. Being part of these groups certainly made me aware of exactly how hard a lot of people were doing it after Cyclone Debbie... unfortunately, three years on there are still people suffering from this event. Being fortunate to have been on those two committees certainly made it easier for me to help dozens of people in the aftermath of the cyclone, in particular with their Insurance Hassles. I was fortunate to have built a great relationship with the Insurance Council of Australia, which helped make it a bit easier when I was helping these people deal with their Insurance companies. As Deputy Mayor, I was lucky to have been able to use my position to advocate for and to put pressure on both State and Federal Governments for Grant Funding after Cyclone Debbie. Also, through these groups, I had the opportunity to through Print,Radio and Television interviews bring attention to the plight of our region, particularly the devastation that had happened in Division 3. It was through this media that drew a lot of attention to the fact that the whole place had been affected by the damage from Debbie. The Cyclone and its aftermath is not something that I’d like to go through again, however the fact that I was able to have helped so many people, organisations and businesses really makes me proud to have been a part of it. If it did happen again, I wouldn’t hesitate in getting head down, backside up and doing it all again. Written and Authorised by John W Collins, 33 Sterry Street Proserpine See more
