25.01.2022 Merry Christmas all! Thank you everyone for all your support throughout the year. The Christmas break was much enjoyed but the farm calls! As the avocados take a break, from now until early May, to regrow, replenish and fill out, we take care of the orchard! The recent rain has brought much growth, feed to the biology and a beautiful green colour to the farm. Now lots of work to do - mowing, mulching and feeding the trees with organic fertilisers!! ... Exciting times for the new season and year of avocados

08.01.2022 Getting up close and personal with the hive! Everyday is a busy day for the bees!! Some facts about bees: - Worker bees live from 6 weeks to a few months - The Queen lives for 2-3 years of productive life ... - Bees have a sun compass to fix the direction of the sun in relation to the hive entrance - They also have a built in clock which allows them to compensate for the movement of the sun - On return to the hive, foraging bees guide other bees to the source of the nectar by dancing! The dance signifies the direction from the hive whilst the body waggle indicates the distance of the flow! We have bee hives on our farm to pollenate the avocados trees and to eat and sell he delicious honey These little hard working creatures are an extremely important part in our and our environments survival!
