24.01.2022 Last night we treated 8 young people to a relaxing massage. One young man opened up about the toll his health problems are taking on him. He’s had a chronic condition which has had him in and out of hospital for the last 2 and a half years. Once he comes out of hospital he is sleeping on a couch. He said it’s uncomfortable, but much better than being on the streets again. He just wishes he could get better and get on with his life. Thanks Kate from Bella Bliss Massage for providing the massages.
23.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! Our first time back at the Night Cafe for 2020 was heartwarming and uplifting. Numbers were lower than usual so people got extra long massages and we were able to engage in deep and meaningful conversations with many young people. One of the young men who attends the drop in centre regularly, has really developed his confidence. Despite living in his car, he is always on time for work and is doing really well in his job and is saving money. He is... such a positive young man with a great attitude, so it’s been a pleasure watching him doing well and moving in a positive direction. Seeing these young people beating adversity and becoming stronger is the best part of our work. Kate provided massages to 6 young people tonight. A big Thankyou to Thais Tout and Mel Lohrisch for donating art supplies Our young people can’t wait to get creative and appreciate these gifts so much. The supplies will be used for art projects at Jeays Street Community Centre
22.01.2022 This week we had the pleasure of massaging 8 young women who are either pregnant or post natal. It’s amazing to see these young women thrive once they have support, resources and find friendships through their parenting courses. Parenting is hard at any age, so these mums appreciate the help and skill building they get here at Kedron. We wish there were more of these wonderful programs! Thanks Kate Kimber for providing the massages, the women are feeling very relaxed and grateful.
21.01.2022 This young woman’s tattoo is inspired by Sylvia Plaths’ poem ‘Lady Lazarus.’ Despite going through the darkness of Depression, this young lady rises from the ashes like a phoenix. Each time she emerges stronger, wiser, braver. We admire her resilience, determination and bravery as she pushes forward, asking for help when she needs it. The Red Cross Night Cafe was quieter than usual, due to the rain this week. Kate provided 3 massages and had time to chat and connect with the young people. 14 people accessed clothing (as they came in cold and wet from the rain.)
17.01.2022 Checking in and update....

15.01.2022 We caught up with a friendly, familiar face recently You can see in this picture, Matt is doing really well and is radiating with positive energy We first met Matt a few years ago at the Red Cross Night Cafe, where he was a regular visitor. He had been sleeping rough and was struggling with his health. He had a lot of back pain and was going through a really tough time. You may recognise him from our 30 Faces of Homelessness campaign back in 2017 ... Matt has always been so grateful to receive regular massages at the night cafe, he looked forward to seeing us and we looked forward to seeing him too. He would bring Kylie and Kate flowers he picked from the Botanical gardens to express his gratitude, and he always told us how much he appreciated Joining Hands It’s been a pleasure to watch him blossom over the last few years and find his feet again. This is thanks to all of our Ambassadors and supporters Matt asked us to share his gratitude for all of the treatments that Joining Hands has given him over the last few years. He appreciates all the love and support

12.01.2022 It was a pleasure to collaborate with fellow Social Enterprise The Life 2 Project again this year! Jane Sleight-Leach (pictured left) organises empowering retreats for women who are healing after experiencing Domestic Violence. The women are guided through deep emotional release processes, via various therapies. This is where we come in! Our Massage Therapist, and business Ambassador, Kate (pictured right) from Bella Bliss Massage provided 3 massages. Kate said "These retreats are powerful and priceless. You can see the women attending growing stronger and more confident. Its truly making a huge difference in their lives."
09.01.2022 Feel Good Friday... We are beyond proud and grateful to be supported by a group of amazing business owners who we call our GiveBack Ambassadors. We connected with Kristen this week, owner of Spray-Free Farmacy and wanted to share the amazing good they are and have created through COVID-19. "Surprisingly, we are actually busier than ever during this crazy time. Our orders have increased by 150%! We're very grateful, as are all our farmers, many of whom lost sources of income f...rom restaurants, cafes and markets. So we are pleased to be able to fill the gap for them. I've also been able to employ my mum, brother and a local friend who all lost work. Many people are looking for organic home delivery options. It's wonderful to see more people prioritising quality, local food and highlights how much local food systems like ours are needed. The supermarkets can't, and shouldn't be, our only source of food." Kristen. Join us in supporting local. Big love xxx https://www.sprayfreefarmacy.com/
07.01.2022 So much gratitude to our Give Back Ambassador Clair of Clair Niven Massage on the Sunshine Coast for providing Massage at our monthly clinic for Young Mum’s at IFYS. Last clinic Clair was moved by a young mum as her Bub does not sleep more than 2 hours at a time, even at night, and she keeps on keeping on for her daughter even though she’s so tired. These sessions remind Clair of what’s it like to be a young Mum with young kids and to keep being the best mum she can be.

We need a national plan to end youth homelessness; but what can you do right now from your home to help? You can treat homelessness with kindness. Keep your eye on our page for the launch of our "Sending kindness to the homeless" Campaign being launched today alongside this video! 1. #LIKE 2. #SHARE 3. #ACT 4. #LETSBREAKSTEREOTYPESTOGETHER
02.01.2022 This week we treated 5 young people in need at City Hall, Brisbane. While massaging a young lady with cerebral palsy, we had the opportunity to talk about how we all hold stress and trauma in our bodies. She chatted about her anxiety and the way it stays in her shoulders, she said her friend even commented about how high her shoulders were sitting. We talked about self-care, gentle stretches and methods she can use to self-massage (eg. tennis ball between your back and a wal...l.) She was amazed how much she enjoyed the massage and how much better she felt. It’s so empowering to be in tune with our bodies and have the tools to look after them. Thanks to Kate from Bella Bliss Massage for providing the massages, and thanks to our Business Ambassadors for supporting us and the young people we assist with their well-being.
