24.01.2022 Did you know Educational Leaders now receive an additional 2 hours of non-contact time? From the first full pay period in November, Educational Leaders engaged under the Children's Services Award in all centres regardless of size now receive 4 hours in total of non-contact time. The additional 2 hours is on top of the 2 hours currently provided when leading a program.

24.01.2022 A great morning spent with the lovely Educators Olsen Avenue Community Children's Centre for The Heart of Behaviour Guidance and Nurturing Children's Well-being Masterclass. Lots of conversations had to support children with behaviours causing concern and additional needs. We also delved into nurturing Children's Wellbeing and Mindfulness. And there was a baby aged around 6/7 months of age that we could cuddle. This was a treat for me as he displayed positive mental health. Mum calm, baby calm. Thank You Alana for organising the event. I look forward to working with the team again soon.

19.01.2022 Visit Steve Biddulph's website for the upcoming ONLINE screenings of Raising Boys, Secrets of Happy Children, and Raising Girls talks. These are filmed versions made before the virus came along. They are being hosted by King's School in Sydney, John Curtin College of the Arts in Perth, St Michael's Grammar in St Kilda, and Essendon North Primary - but can be watched by anyone in that time zone. These are the same films that were screened on Virgin Airlines last year, which got rave reviews from business travellers especially. Because of scammers currently raiding all providers of parenting education, please only enrol from Steve's website - www.stevebiddulph.com These will be the last shows for the year.

11.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of promoting mental health and wellbeing in Children. The first 7 years are critical for a child's emotional and social development. Providing strategies and tools to calm down, self-regulate and build resilience will support Children to overcome any obstacles that they may be faced with on their journey through life. #health #resilience #wellbeing

11.01.2022 School for Life’s Girls’ Fund will be launching on 14 October 2020 as we celebrate the United Nations International Day of the Girl. School for Life's Ambassador, Georgie Gardner, will be hosting this special event and will also be joined by the Hon Julie Bishop who in her role as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Australia (2013 - 2018) played a critical role in the global effort to empower women and girls. She remains a strong advocate of education in her curren...t role as Chancellor of the Australian National University. School for Life Foundation will be giving a live progress update on their COVID-19 response from the ground in Uganda, a tour of the girls' boarding facility which is currently under construction, meet an incredible High School student Diana and you'll have an opportunity to ask our team questions live. School for Life believe that all children deserve the opportunity to realise their potential through quality education. They recognise that some children face additional barriers that require extra support in order for them to have an equal opportunity to thrive and contribute fully to their families, communities and wider economies. School for Life’s Girls’ Fund will support innovative programs that provide the support and infrastructure for the additional interventions required to remove the cultural and gendered barriers to the education and participation of girls, thereby helping to create sustainable change and address the root causes of poverty and inequality in local Ugandan communities. Visit www.shecouldbe.com to learn more. The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unsettling reminder of the disproportionate impact of disasters and crises on women and girls. Experience shows that during times of crisis and uncertainty girls are more likely to suffer from premature school drop-out, early and forced marriage, trauma, increased labour burden, increased rates of STIs including HIV, and unwanted pregnancy. These times are also linked to increased violence against women and girls, underpinning the urgency to ensure that girls do not fall through the cracks. It is estimated that 11 million girls in developing countries will never return to school as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. I do hope that you’re able to join the event on this momentous occasion. https://www.shecouldbe.com/ School for Life Foundation

08.01.2022 Meaningful Reflective Practice (- Critical) So, I have been discussing meaningful reflection today. So here are my thoughts on this today. It is amazing how 1 day can be just so terrible (the worst) and the next day (can be so great). It reminds me to seek out positive, like-minded people and avoid negative people. ... When it's part of your job - "How do you stay positive around negative energy?" I speak to the management and have discussions that as a consultant I will not be around the negative person energy, but perhaps you aren't able to do that. I have a choice, however so do you! Your wellbeing is paramount. You can't provide nurturing and support to others if you are struggling. I believe that Educator Wellbeing and Positive Psychology is paramount to the profession. I will discuss positive psychology further in future posts as I'm currently studying positive psychology. I believe in sharing with my colleagues and the profession. I also believe in YOU, as dedicated Educators...we do this career for a reason. Ideas?
