18.01.2022 Language is powerful. Words create worlds... How do we change the narrative from supporting the community to partnering with the community and acknowledging their gifts? ... How do we shift our mindset from praising our programs and how the helped the disadvantaged to valuing communities ' strengths and contributions? How do we stop relying so much on eternal "expertise" and recognise the real experts: locals in the community, neighbors who know the history of their places and what real solutions look like... How do we adopt an appreciate mindset, identifying strengths of community members, connecting them and mobilising them? How do we take the time to talk to the community, host community conversions , listen, really listen and share stories? How do we then collect warm data from those conversations and use them for advocacy and to shift funding to community led initiatives? How do we record the outcomes and share the story not of our success but of the success of the community that we also played a part? I don't have all the answers to these questions... but I think it's worthwhile raising the questions and engaging in honest conversations... #abcd #codesign #activecitizens #appreciativemindset #listening #sharingstories #connectingassets #communityconversations
