16.01.2022 Clinical studies back the benefits of prehabilitation, undertaking an exercise program prior to surgery (Jahic et al, 2018). In particular, It was found that the preoperative quadriceps strength is strong predictor of functional performance one year (Mizner, et al., 2005) and two years after the a total knee replacement (Zeni & Snyder-Mackler, 2010). The optimal time to start a prehab program is between 6 to 12 weeks prior to your procedure. This is because muscle mass and strength takes time to build and muscle memory for new movement patterns takes time to learn. For more information on the effect of prehab post surgery, see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6340623, or call us to discuss.

07.01.2022 Great to see more of the NSW Swifts visit Jointli for biodex testing. The aim of the biodex testing is to provide people with the gold standard measure for hamstrings and quadriceps strength. Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and a leading cause of disability worldwide, largely due to pain, the primary symptom of the disease. The pain experience in knee OA in particular is well-recognised as typically transitioning from intermittent weight-bearing pain to a more persistent, chronic pain. *Source: Neogi, T.
