25.01.2022 The easterly swell that we’ve been expierncing for the past few days generated by Cyclone Lucas way out in the Coral Sea started to organise itself overnight and raised the froth levels on the points. 24.01.2022 This image needs a caption. Any suggestions? Always fun doing a deep dive back into my Joli archives. A photo request yesterday had me going back to the beginning of the 2000’s and opening up old hard drives. I’m not sure if this image was ever published but I know for sure it was sent out to all my magazine clients. 06.01.2022 The Easterly swell generated by Cyclone Lucas was really lined up this morning with clean lines rolling into the Gold Coasts southern points. The low tide produced strong rips but as the tide filled in the paddle became a lot easier. 06.01.2022 Peter King has just release a clip where Akila Aipa and Kelly are discussing the first board they shaped together back in 1991 and the origins behind their label AK. Kelly rode the board during sessions on the Gold Coast when we chased the swell generated by cyclone Betsy. This image was used on the cover of the ASP 1993 World Tour guide as Kelly explains in the clip. 03.01.2022 Layne Beachley, who was the current World Champion at the time, celebrating her win in the WCT Billabong Women's Pro held at Teahupoo, Tahiti on Sunday May 13 2001. I can remember shooting this image as Layne was wrapping up from an interview amongst the media boats in the channel and a double rainbow formed over the tower.
