23.01.2022 Well, what a wonderful night we had at Don't Knock the Rock! Thank you so much to everyone who came along, danced, showed your support to the cause, filled the hall with laughter and made the place look amazing with your dashing good looks and 50s threads. Such a fun bunch! The Lincolns - Adelaide - you guys were off the charts and it wouldn't have been what it was without you. We couldn't keep people off the dance floor with your music, thank you so much. Full-time legends, ...we love you. Thank you to Kevin and Jam, our awesome dance instructors from QuickSteps Dance / Club / Studio. Thanks for teaching us to rock n roll like pros! (sort of) :D Together we raised $4,400 to support a medical clinic in South Sudan, headed up by Macleods on a Mission. It is an honour to be able to give into such important work. Thank you Jono N Destinee Macleod for all the sacrifices you are making to bring love and hope to the people of South Sudan. You're amazing. We still have some donations rolling in, and it's not too late to give to the cause if you feel to. How about we get this up beyond $5,000? Huge shout out to all the troopers who worked together to put this event on. Coast & Vines Church, Amuse Event Lighting & Audio Visual, all the Dowie family, and Aaron Nagel, photographer extraordinaire (photos coming to you soon). So deeply grateful for your generous hearts. So friends, thank you so much, and stay tuned for the next event! I'm off to Scotland in the morning until September...perhaps I'll come back full of inspiration for the next theme. Highland Fling anyone?!
23.01.2022 When people realise the next Jolly Good Event is merely a month away Don't forget to tell your friends, neighbours, co-workers, local barista, gym buddies, relatives, Instagram followers, potential suitors, uni pals, and your entire town about it! Let us know on the event page (Don't Knock the Rock!) if you're coming!
21.01.2022 Here in Australia it's easy to take things for granted, like our healthcare system. Although a basic human right, many people in the world simply don't have access to healthcare at all. South Sudan is one country where, due to a number of factors including a long history of war and unrest, healthcare has suffered. That is why we are excited and proud to be partnering with Macleods on a Mission, who are pouring their lives and love out in Tonj, South Sudan, creating a different story for the beautiful people of South Sudan. A story of hope, of safe births, saved lives, community education and healthy futures. When you come along to Don't Knock the Rock!, you will be helping to raise funds to purchase medicine which will directly benefit these wonderful people. What a privilege!

19.01.2022 The very first Jolly Good Event will always be one of my favourites. With bated breath I waited, wondering if people were even going to show up...so when it all came together so beautifully I was more than a litte delighted and relieved. I will always be so grateful to all of you who come out to each event and make them so memorable. Do you have a favourite Jolly Good Event memory? I've just added a 'Reviews' button to our page, I would so appreciate if anyone would like to... give us some stars and a review. Much love, Bonnie x
17.01.2022 These guys are having a think about what they're going to wear to Don't Knock the Rock! 1950s is surely one of the best eras when it comes to fashion Time to raid your grandparent's wardrobe, hit the opshops, use your sewing skills, jump online or work with what you've got! Can't wait to see all you good looking cats!
17.01.2022 How good are all these happy faces?! So, great news friends. After an amazingly kind and generous person donated this week, we are now up to $3,000. Yes! If you would like to see this amount increased further so Luba Maternity Center in Sierra Leone can keep their doors open next year, please get in touch! ...
16.01.2022 "My husband and I were at the very first Jolly Good event... it's where we met and where our love story began. We've been back to others and have always had a blast. Such a fun-filled atmosphere with lovely people, music and food. So nice to see people getting behind some good old fashioned community building. Big thanks to Bonnie and Jolly Good Events -I owe you one!" Thanks for your beautiful review Steph, we are beyond delighted to have been a small part of your love story!
15.01.2022 LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIFUL, SMILING FACES! These are the amazing Daughters of Destiny women; the focus of our last fundraiser. The vocational school has finally kicked off, after the security fence was fixed, running water repaired, teachers hired and relevant supplies bought. About 60 women will be attending the school 4 days a week for a year, learning vocational skills like tailoring, handcrafts, hairdressing and cookery. These skills, added to what they have already been l...earning about self-worth, critical thinking, saving, entrepreprenuership, health and nutrition, and family planning, are empowering the women to build a healthy and sustainable future for themselves, their children and their community. Thank you to the incredible women's department at JENGA Uganda for making this happen, and thank you to YOU GUYS for providing the funds to get it off the ground! Know that you have made a lasting impact in many lives. If you are interested in supporting them further, there is now a need to build another structure to split the class and fit all the women in!! Please contact us if this is something you would like to give towards!
15.01.2022 Happy New Year friends! I hope 2017 is your best year yet! Last week I (Bonnie Dowie), had the opportunity to visit the beautiful women of 'Daughters of Destiny' in Mbale, Uganda. Daughters of Destiny is a support group for young, single mothers which began in 2013. Our last fundraiser enabled the group (65 women) to begin a one year vocational training school to learn tailoring or hairdressing, as well as baking, in order to support themselves and their children financially ...into the future. Since the last time I was able to visit them, their demeanours have changed notably. The joy on their faces was undeniable and infectious. Many told of how they once felt lost, alone and hopeless, but now are full of confident hope and joy. They can laugh without fear of the future! I hope these pictures give you a glimpse into their joy, and how much your support has meant. They send their love and appreciation; it means so much to them to know people all the way from Australia would think about and support them. So thank you for coming along and dancing for such an amazing cause! If you'd like to know anymore about this group of incredible women, please get in touch.

13.01.2022 Fred is feeling very pleased with himself after having a brainwave about what to get his wife for Mother's Day. A babysitter for the kids and tickets to the dance, of course!! Fran couldn't be more thrilled. What a top shelf idea! No more need to stress, kids! Buy your brilliant mother (or dear wife) tickets to the dance and she will be one happy woman!
12.01.2022 Hello lovely people! I’m back from overseas and looking forward to planning the next event as soon as I’m settled. In the mean time, I recommend getting along to this wonderful event raising funds for Wirraway Homestead, a not-for-profit school and holiday campsite in Strathalbyn. There will be bush dancing, pony rides, face painting, a round bale roll tournament, door prizes, great bands and a 3 course meal! ... Check out the event page for all the details. Tickets are available online only. Saturday 20th October. Much love! Bonnie
12.01.2022 A brilliant night of 1950s inspired rock 'n roll dancing, music and fun. The Lincolns - Adelaide brought the house alive with their toe-tapping, feel-it-in-your-bones, make-you-grin music, transporting guests back to days gone by with their smooth style. Kevin and Jam from QuickSteps Dance / Club / Studio soon had guests laughing and bopping away with their wonderful workshop, before letting everyone loose on the dance floor to bust out their new moves (plus plenty of origin...al ones!). Mountains of delicious home-cooked goodies provided the energy needed for dancing the night away. The old hall looked beautiful with soft lighting, garden posies, brightly coloured bunting, and most of all, gorgeously dressed, happy guests! Together we raised $4,800 for a medical clinic in South Sudan, directed by Macleods on a Mission. This will go straight towards buying much needed medical supplies, directly impacting some of the most vulnerable people in the world. A huge thank you to all who made the night such a hit. And a special thanks to Aaron Nagel for these gorgeous photos.
12.01.2022 No doubt about it...When you come to a Jolly Good Event, not only do you have a terrific time dancing the night away, you help to change lives and communities. Our last event, Hoedown in the Vale, raised funds for Daughters of Destiny, a young single mothers support group in Uganda (a project of JENGA Uganda). Specifically, funds went towards purchasing equipment needed for a vocational training school where the women learn skills in tailoring, hairdressing, cooking and lite...racy. Last week, 87 of these beautiful young women graduated from the school. The funds we raised also paid for a very special graduation party. Most of these women never had the chance to finish school, so it was an incredibly joyful time of celebration, signaling fresh hope for the future and great wonder and pride from their families and communities. Well done Wonder Women, so proud of you and excited for your future!
11.01.2022 A fun little film to bring back all the memories of Hoedown in the Vale :) Such a hoot! Thank you so much Aaron Nagel!
10.01.2022 A delightful summer evening of bushdancing, laughter and community. Wonderful people, fantastic band, stunning venue, delicious food, buckets of FUN! Our aim was to raise funds for Luba Maternity Center to help keep their doors open for 2018. Together we raised $3,000. Sadly, after months of fundraising, they have had to make the very difficult decision to close, as not enough funds came in. We hope this is not the end of the story for them, and wish all involved with the cli...nic all the very best. The funds will now be directed to JENGA Uganda, specifically to the Daughters of Destiny project - a support group for young, single mothers. The money will help to purchase new equipment for their vocational training school, which will be a huge and timely blessing to them. THANK YOU, dear guests for all of your love and support. Can't wait to see you at the next Jolly Good Event! (Huge thank you to Aaron Nagel for these beaut pics!!)
06.01.2022 "Back in September of 2014 at The Springtime Ball I met a girl in a long red dress, who unfortunately was a Port Adelaide supporter AND dancing the foxtrot with my elder brother. However, 3 and a 1/2 years on.... we are happily married, she is still a Port supporter (much to my disgust), but no longer dances with my brother. Jolly Good Events has always provided a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere, for people of all ages and danceabilities to come together to support a great... cause. Who knew a charity ball, in a quaint country town would change our lives forever!!!" Heart. Exploding. Thank you for sharing your story with us Benjamin and Amelia Turner!
05.01.2022 These folks couldn't bear missing out on Don't Knock the Rock! tomorrow night, so they're roller skating all the way from Paris!
03.01.2022 Well, what a hoot we had last night at Hoedown in the Vale! Perfect weather, stunning venue, amazing band, delicious home-cooked food, sweet gelati....and best of all - you, our wonderful, happy guests. It was so good to see everybody getting in on the dancing with endless laughter, smiles and a lovely sense of community. We raised just under $2,000 for Luba Maternity Center. I (Bonnie), still hope to see that number increase and would love to chat with any of you interested... in further investing in this amazing cause. They are still needing significant funding in order to keep their doors open next year. Thank you, and lots of love to you all! <3 And a big shout out to legend Aaron Nagel who took this super cool drone footage!
