25.01.2022 Bees have been very busy lately. Lots of honey available if you're ready for some.

23.01.2022 Bees working hard even though winter.. this is brood, normally reduced in winter

21.01.2022 Thanks Luke!! Was so great to see you!

21.01.2022 We've been flat out lately, checking the bees since the rain stopped. They have been going gangbusters producing lots of honey. Only one hive was partly submerged in floodwaters and others had water all around. The hot clear weather following the rain has triggered swarming around town too.

16.01.2022 Bees been doing overtime... lots of honey available.

15.01.2022 Pollen provides protein in the bee diet. In a shortage of good high protein pollen bees will also cannibilise their own eggs and larvae. Finally, never letting a chance go by, they will feed on an accidentally killed bee. This clip shows some workers checking out one of many drones that we squashed, and they ain't exactly mourning his passing.

14.01.2022 Check your honey stock! This Saturday is your last chance to top up :D Otherwise, you'll find us as usual at Fresh Market Precinct & Willows

13.01.2022 have lots of honey ready to go, as well as honeycomb and beeswax blocks.

10.01.2022 Our little Cleo created this design for her school honey label! Thought you might like to see it!

09.01.2022 Back to school Getting interviewed by the wonderful children at the beautiful Hermit Park State School. We have hives here, too!

07.01.2022 Jonbees Honey are on holiday! For all orders, please email and we will sort you out when we are back on deck next month. See you then :D

07.01.2022 We love going over and above to help share everything we have learned in our (nearly ten!) years of beekeeping. In this latest edition, we demonstrate what NOT to do when melting wax. The lengths we go to sometimes for our passion are endless! AND our lovely polished floors are now treated with beeswax at no extra cost! So - here it is: 1. Once you've put your wax in a saucepan, DON'T put the flame on medium-high heat. KEEP IT LOW. 2. Once you have lit the flame. DON'T WALK... AWAY and go and do something else. Outside. In the bee shed. That's it folks. Stand by for your next lesson, 'Ways to clean up beeswax explosions in your kitchen' (hint: pour a shot of whiskey first).

05.01.2022 There's always something to do with the bees.

05.01.2022 Weird winter weather.. still pulling plenty of honey off some hives but others doing nothing.

01.01.2022 Checked some hives this morning - 31 fully capped very heavy frames from just two hives, or 36 frames in four honey supers. The ones we left behind were 80% capped. Think the honey flow is happening . .

01.01.2022 Jonbees bee-ing very busy lately. Checking hives which have been unattended while we've been away. Rendering lots of wax ready for selling and making our own beeswax wraps. Bottling honey for all our lovely customers.... Attending Bee Club events and meetings. Presenting to local groups from preschoolers through to retirees, garden clubs, veterinary students and others. Phew. Time for a break.
