25.01.2022 Thank you to Mindscape Psychology for this great visual on using our 5 senses to self-soothe when we feel overwhelmed.

25.01.2022 Prepare yourself for the work week and recharge with #selfcaresunday You could go for a walk or bike ride, snuggle a pet, declutter a drawer, turn off your phone for 1 hour, have a bubble bath, read a book, hug a loved one, light a scented candle, or watch a funny video.

25.01.2022 It's okay to make mistakes. It's something we say a lot to kids and young people, especially in schools, but saying it and living it or showing it through our ...actions are two very different things. What could we change or improve in how we respond to children and young people to action the words "mistakes are okay"? What could we change or improve in our systems and practices to deeply embed the sense that mistakes are okay? That mistakes are opportunities for growth and learning? Can we be brave enough to model this by acknowledging our own mistakes and our own struggles with making mistakes? I'm putting my hand up here as a perfectionist who still struggles with making mistakes - I'm getting there though. These days I can mess up without crying, although it still takes a lot of self-talk and reframing to feel okay. How about you? Is it something you struggle with? What helps you to remember that it's okay to make mistakes? The awesome illustration is from Elise Gravel who has lots of other awesome goodies like this at http://elisegravel.combe

22.01.2022 Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues I see every day. As well as the signs shown below, anxiety in children & adolescents can include avoidance of activities (including school), over-planning situations, 'butterflies' or feeling sick in the tummy, defiance, anger, & difficulty managing emotions. If you feel like your child might be struggling with anxiety, you can contact your GP or reach out to us on www.jonesandcopsychology.com.au to chat further. Kate

15.01.2022 "The comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure...Change begins the moment you get the courage and step outside your comfort zone...Real change is difficult at the beginning, but gorgeous at the end. Roy T. Bennett In order to grow, we often have to step outside our comfort zone and try something new. I've been learning how to mountain bike ride. While I've still got a long way to go, it feels great to try something I've ...never done before. What is something new that you could try? Kate

12.01.2022 Just like an iceberg, what we see on the surface may not always reflect what is underneath. It is important to remember this as we interact with people - even though they may come across as fine, they could be struggling with a number of things. Be kind to one another
