21.01.2022 What does International Grenache Day have to do with our L.J. Shiraz? We actually make the L.J. with a small amount of Grenache. The L.J. is made from grapes grown in our vineyard planted in 1905. The shiraz and <5% of grenache grapes are harvested by hand, fermented together in open wooden vats, hand-plunged then pressed.... Including Grenache adds another level of complexity to the L.J.; typically adding a dark fruit character and boosting the lovel of colour, tannin and acidity. Grenache is a variety that relishes warm climates and improves as the vines grow old, which is why Rutherglen is an ideal place to grow Grenache. Today, we'll be celebrating International Grenache Day with a glass of L.J. Will you join us?

17.01.2022 Can you guess what Archie's favourite wine is and what he'll be enjoying on Christmas Day? We'll give you a hint. It's vibrant and fresh with rich berry and spicy fruit and added complexity from a touch of aged material. The wine has great length, a creamy mousse and a refined finish. And it's great with roast pork or turkey.... Order yours to enjoy on Christmas Day too. https://joneswinery.com.au//jones-winery-vineyard-nv-spar/

16.01.2022 We're proud to be one of only three restaurants in the North East to be listed in the 2020 Good Food Guide. Here's what they say "French country cooking in the heart of Rutherglen wine country.... The pitch here is simple: French country-style food made using local produce, designed to be paired with the estate’s own rich red and textured white wines. Set just off from the winery’s cellar door in the same rustic, corrugated iron shed, the dining room is an eclectic mix of antique chairs, tables and cutlery, with views across the vineyards. The menu changes frequently, but expect entrees such as twice-baked cauliflower souffle, lifted with lemon and goat’s cheese, or caramelised sweetbreads with Jerusalem artichoke, wood sorrel and a dash of tawny port. For main course, there might be chargrilled goat cutlets from nearby Kidden Park with a carrot terrine and sheep’s milk yoghurt, or a wild mulloway with grilled leek and mussels. Dessert is an opportunity to get stuck into the regions fortifieds try the muscat with a baked chestnut cheesecake topped with prunes. It’ll be the perfect finish to a wonderful meal." If you want to enjoy Chef Briony's wonderful dishes, book in via our website or call us on 02 6032 8496.

13.01.2022 Last time we posted an image of our Ugni Blanc replacing the the Rutherglen Wine Bottle, it was suggested that we complete the picture with "a Big Barrel or Big Wine Glass half way down the Hill". We thought it was a pretty good suggestion. What do you think? And we might have changed the wine too. Can you pick which one it is?
