25.01.2022 LILIES ARE HIGHLY TOXIC TO CATS!!! We cannot stress this enough!! Not only is it heartbreaking for the owners to lose a cat to Lilly poisoning but as a vet nur...se who has to nurse these kitties knowing its likely going to end in putting the cat to sleep, is devestating. In this day and age with social media and information about animal safety there really is little reason for people to not know this information by now. ALL PARTS OF EVERY TYPE OF LILY ARE DEADLY TO CATS!! Even the tiniest bit of pollen getting on a cats coat and them cleaning it off can send them into kidney failure. Please if you have someone give you lilies thank them and tell them you cant take them because you have cats. Its not worth the risk! I cant take seeing another cat die from lily poisoning. 24.01.2022 We were very lucky to have Jenny Seaton at Curtin Radio 100.1 FM interview our Founder and Operations manager Nat on all things cats and 9 Lives

24.01.2022 RAGDOLL KITTY UPDATE! Hes now called Owen and is allowing pats from his carer We new he had potential to be a house panther so we are glad he didnt have to go back to the colony.

23.01.2022 Have to admit this is how we are feeling right now because no one wants to foster colony cats once trapped so we have no choice but to TNR the ones we hoped would get a chance at rehabilitation.

22.01.2022 SOUTHERN SUBURBS COLONY UPDATE! The first 3 kitties have been caught today They will be going to one of the rescues that have affiliated with the project to ...help with this big task. We are grateful to Perth Rescue Angels, WA Pet Project, SAFE Perth - Saving Perth Animals from Euthanasia and H.A.A.R.T (Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team) for joining us in helping to save these kitties!

20.01.2022 FOSTER CARERS NEEDED!! So far 7 kitties have been caught from the Southern Suburbs Cat Colony and they have gone to the other rescues helping with this proj...ect. We have 5 spaces left available with other rescues to trap and place cats and then thats it! We have no more places to put these cats leaving 60 still needing somewhere to go. We so much appreciate all the food donations that supporters have dropped off and the money donated also. This will help us keep feeding the colony but what we need most of all is FOSTER CARERS!! Without FOSTER CARERS to place these cats with we cant achieve anything more and this colony will double in size come this kitten season!! WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP! Kitties lives depend on you To apply to be a foster carer you can go through any of the rescues that are currently taking cats from this colony through the links below. Be sure to let them know you are applying to foster the southern suburbs colony cats! 9 Lives Cat Rescue: https://9livescatrescue.com.au/foster-application/ Perth Rescue Angels: https://pra-applicationforms.formstack.com//prafosterappli HAART: https://haart.org.au/foster/cats/ SAFE Perth: [email protected] WA Pet Project: https://www.wapetproject.com.au/foster-a-pet FOSTERING SAVES LIVES!!

19.01.2022 FOOD FOR OUR KITTIES! All our High Tea funds had to go towards vet bills leaving us pretty low on the food funds side of things. Now with the virus creatin...g the need for people to self isolate we have to get enough cat food to our carers for at least the next 6-8 weeks so that we limit their need to have to have to travel to our pick up points to collect it. This will limit contact between our volunteers as much as possible. The problem is we barely have enough funds for our regular $800 food order let alone double that!! We really hope our supporters can help us in this time of need to keep our 280 foster kitties tummies full. For the cost of a cup of coffee you can feed a kitty NAB - 9 Lives Cat Rescue BSB: 086420 Acct #: 197339592 Ref: Food

18.01.2022 Enjoy an ice cream and raise money for 9 Lives too Big thank you to Roho Bure Vegan Ice Cream for selecting us

18.01.2022 FOSTER CARE NEEDED This handsome Ragdoll x boy was trapped at our Whitfords colony. Hes being desexed and microchipped today and needs someone with time a...nd patience to turn him into a house kitty. We need someone LONG TERM! Once he goes into care he cannot go back to his colony so we need someone reliable who can have him until he turns his spicy card in. Moving him around is not an option. If you cant foster him for more than 6 months then please dont apply. We like to give all our colony cats a chance at rehabilitation but if no one comes forward by tomorrow afternoon we will have to release him back and make him part of the TNR colony. ** Any uneducated/abusive comments about TNR will be deleted. We are happy to answer questions for those who wish to know how it works if you send us a PM. We provide everything needed for his care except kitty litter. If you would like to foster him please complete the foster application below: https://9livescatrescue.com.au/foster-application/

16.01.2022 Trapping wasnt as fruitful last night as we hoped with 4 x 9 week old kittens still at large but we did get one of the 7 month old boys from the last litter we have been trying to catch.

16.01.2022 The wonderful peeps at Pet Stock Brighton have selected 9 Lives to be part of their wishing tree this year. You can donate money or buy products to donate in store Be sure to head there to help us out and show their staff some for choosing us

13.01.2022 FOSTER CARE NEEDED Beautiful Priscilla was trapped 4 months ago at our Whitfords colony after having several litters! She is sterilised now ... Priscilla has made great progress in learning to love people as you can see but her current carer was only meant to be temporary and she really needs to be moved to someone more long term or who is willing to foster with the view to adopt. We need her next carer to have no small children and be home a lot to spend time with her. Carers also need to have a license and a car to be able to take her to the vet should that ever be needed. We supply all that is needed for her care except kitty litter. If you can help please complete the foster application online below: https://9livescatrescue.com.au/f/foster-carers-application/

13.01.2022 Today's the day of our Online Street Appeal As we are unable to be in the city shaking tins for donations we are running this appeal online. Did you know we are run entirely by volunteers and rely solely on the public's donations to support the 260 cats and kittens in our care?... Please donate below NAB - 9 Lives Cat Rescue BSB: 086420 Acct #: 197339592 Ref: Street Appeal

12.01.2022 This weekend a dedicated 9 lives team were due to participate in the HBF run for a reason to raise much needed funds for 9 lives through sponsorship. Unfortunat...ely this event was cancelled due to COVID-19 meaning much needed funds will not be raised for 9 lives..... however it does not mean we can all pull on our shoes and do a few kms on Sunday morning. Why not challenge yourself, grab a couple of friends, enjoy the sunshine and raise some funds for 9 lives. We propose for every 1km walked or ran you can ask family and friends to donate $5 to 9 lives? Or even you could donate to help challenge yourself? It is always a good little motivator to go that extra mile. Don't feel like getting out of bed? (Don't blame you especially with the glorious cat cuddles we are getting in this cold weather!) Well...Why don't you donate to 9 lives in support of our treasurer Rebecca Rigoni who will be doing at least 15kms on Sunday. Dependent on the donations y ou never know she may even go the full 21km and try and beat last year's efforts. Every little bit help, keep active for a great cause NAB - 9 Lives Cat Rescue BSB: 086420 Acct #: 197339592 ** Comment below the distance you would like to achieve and then get fund raising OR ** Comment below on how much you would like to donate in support of Rebecca Lastly Remember to Donate!!

10.01.2022 MEET FLIP AND ZURI **Bonded Pair** Hello, It's me, a boy called Flip. The ginger one! ... I have many nicknames but apparently none of them are flattering of my charming personality. My favourite thing to do besides stalkery (so please watch for my feets) is to snuggle. I have a rule. If you sit down. I will sit down on you to make my muffins. I also know how to walk on a harness, I tried explaining to this human that I'm not a dog and need something sophisticated like a space backpack but so far it's not happening. All that time outside is really enjoyable but you better be on your toes as there's alot of mischief to be done. I do have a sensitive stomach so it's really important you don't feed me rich protein like kangaroo or beef. My sister - Zuri (we aren't blood bound) is a shy girl but boy, she loves to give you some good lickings as an alternative hello of affection. My sis doesn't like to be picked up and will get pretty distressed about it. Zuris favourite fetish is feet grooming and puzzle toys. She's very smart and needs some good cognitive stimulations, however harnessed outside time isn't one of them. Her favourite foods are giblets, kangaroo and lamb. She also likes Ziwipeak venison but that's pretty expensive so she understands she can't have it all the time. We are like Bill and Ben so please understand we are a package deal and it's to the benefit of everyone that we stay together. P.S. My sis loves a good conversation and I love a good opportunity to watch you shower. Age: Flip 2/3 years/ Zuri 5 years Sex: Male and Female Breed: Domestic Short Hairs Colour: Zuri - Tortie and Flip - Ginger Desexed: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccinated: To be updated Litter trained: Yes Indoors or with a cat run. Flip is harness trained to go on walks. Good with other cats No dogs or small children FOSTERED IN BUTLER If you would like to adopt these kitties please complete an adoption application below: https://9livescatrescue.com.au/adopt_/adoption-application/

08.01.2022 The Joondalup Cat Colony is certainly the gift that keeps on giving! We had it down to 3 cats but unfortunately with one of them being a stubborn female that i...s being difficult to trap, she has produced yet another litter of kittens that she has only just allowed to come up and see the world. There are 5 babies around 6 weeks old but after several hours they were not going near our traps so we will have to be more creative to get hold of them!

08.01.2022 SAVING LIVES WITH DONATIONS 9 Lives is about to undertake the coordination of trapping and finding care for the biggest colony of cats we have encountered y...et! 70+ cats reside in and around a large business south of the river. Their numbers grew quickly over this last summer and we have permission to sort this colony out. We are reaching out to all the cat rescues in Perth and its surrounding areas to take on a few cats each to foster and rehabilitate and we will be leaving 10 cats at the business as part of a TNR program at the business owners request for pest control. We cant reveal the area the cats are in for the safety of the cats and security of the business but we assure you that these kitties need our help before they become hundreds and even more of a welfare issue than they currently are. We have purchased $500 worth of food for the cats to start off regular feeding for them but its going to take months to trap them so we will need a steady food supply. We have 8 spots with rescues secured for cats to be trapped but we would like to help them with the cats vet costs by giving each rescue $50 per cat they take as we are all under the pump financially. We are asking you to please help us with this HUGE undertaking by donating towards food and for the vet costs for the rescues taking the cats in. We have a special bank account for colony cats so it doesnt get mixed up with our regular funds. If you can help please send donations to: NAB BSB: 086420 Acct #: 946755877 Ref: Colony Cats We will keep everyone updated on the cats and how everything progresses with colony

06.01.2022 The Sound Telegraph have very kindly done an article on 9 Lives and the cat colony in the southern suburbs to help us get funds and foster carers for us and the other rescues helping with the project. https://www.soundtelegraph.com.au//cat-colony-rescued-ng-b

05.01.2022 URGENT FOSTER CARE NEEDED This little girl is only 10 months old and was caught at our Whitfords TNR colony. With the Bunnings at the colony being demolished ...later this year we cannot return her to the colony as a TNR kitty and so need someone to take her into their care to work on getting her used to domestic life. Tigi as shes been named has been sterilised and microchipped. Shes just super terrified of people right now as shes spent her life so far in the Bunnings trade centre away from those scary humans. We will provide a crate to start her off in as well as Feliway diffusers to help ease her anxiety and food. All we need from you is: - Patience and love. Experience with spicy kitties is also helpful. - To have a reliable car and current drivers license in case of emergencies. - A spare room to start Tigi off in with her crate. - Be located in Perth or its surrounding suburbs. We just dont have the ability to provide support to people in country areas. To help Tigi become an upstanding member of cat society please complete the foster application below: https://9livescatrescue.com.au/foster-application/

04.01.2022 Can you spare a dime? Unfortunately our last 2 online fundraisers performed very poorly so we have barely any money coming in to provide for the 270 cats we h...ave in care. This virus has made fundraising beyond difficult with the cancellation of so many of our events for the rest of the year. As in humans, its flu season for cats too and we have nothing in reserve to treat the kitties that get flu symptoms each year like Ludo pictured below. Other than the colony cats/kittens at our 2 colonies, we have had to cease intakes of cats in need entirely to able to keep providing for the ones we do have in care already. We have applied for the Lotterywest grant for charities but they have so many applications it could be months before we hear if we even qualify to receive it. We rely solely on public donations to operate. Just $2.00 from every supporter could see us through this entire winter! Please help us! NAB - 9 Lives Cat Rescue BSB: 086420 Acct #: 197339592 Our kitties thank you in advance

02.01.2022 Woolworths have Purina One biscuits in 3kg bags for only $19! Usually $27. Our foster cats eat Purina Proplan which is almost the exact same thing except we d...on’t have to travel 40 mins to our wholesaler to get it and it’s cheaper when on special like this! If just 50 of our 12k supporters picked up a bag to donate to our kitties this week that would give us 150kgs of food to feed the rescue kitties We have donation bins at Pet Stock Brighton, Better Pets and Gardens Malaga and Coles in Hillarys on Flinders Ave. We also have drop off points near Kelmscott and in Atwell (plz PM for these as they are volunteers houses). Please throw a bag of Purina One in your trolley for our kitties this week - sales usually end on a Wed with supermarkets.

01.01.2022 PLEASE SIGN! We have an invested interest in this Bunnings staying open. Partly for the wonderful staff but also for the colony of cats that we have been managing there for the last 8 years. Once a colony of 40+ cats we got them down to 10 trap, neuter, released kitties to maintain the area. ... The kitties caught have found their forever homes. The colonies numbers fluctuate depending on how many more cats are dumped in the area (the school, shops and irresponsible owners letting them roam in the surrounding residential areas) but we work hard to trap them to keep the cat numbers manageable. The tearing down of this Bunnings will impact our feeding areas for these kitties as well as their physical safety during the demolition of the store and the construction of whatever will be there next. The rumour is it will be apartment buildings which will bring a new set of issues with the possibility of residents living there not liking the cats. Please sign the petition for the community and the kitties to keep Whitfords Bunnings open PLEASE NOTE: Any one whos concerned about wildlife in the area: There is very little. You see the concrete jungle of buildings and car parks make it a bit hard for wildlife to live there. The cats do however keep the rat and mice population down around the food shops.
