25.01.2022 These Redearth BlackMax Off Grid systems are ideal for tiny homes and remote workshops that dont have space for a regular inverter and battery installation. They can be placed in a shaded area and literally unplugged and relocated if ever the need arises. This job in Bejoording (Toodyay area) was one solution, they simply wanted nothing to do with Western Power anymore and the result is awesome. 23.01.2022 REBs vs DEBs, WA’s feed in tariff changes, why and how it affects consumers. WA has a large amount of rooftop solar and the uptake isn’t declining. Whilst this is awesome for owners of solar powered generators and the reduction of harmful emissions its causing a significant headache for Western Power and Horizon Energy. With the amount of rooftop solar being pumped back into the grid its lowering the demand in their generators causing grid instability and potential blackouts.... Generators need a certain load to run and remain synched with the grid, if that load isn’t there the generators start having issues. Another issue is the wholesale price of electricity goes into negative when the demand is so low, meaning its costs more to have their generators spinning over on standby ready to supply loads than what they can sell the energy for. For owners of solar generators (you and me) it means at times of high solar generation and low demand our inverters ramp down and export less power, we then ring Western Power and complain that our inverters are ramping down and its costing us money as were not exporting any power (7cents or 47c). Why do we complain, because for many people one of the significant factors we figured into getting solar was the buyback for surplus energy (REBS). That incentive has more than done its job and they (Synergy and government) need to pull back on that, the way they are doing it is by offering the new buyback (DEBS). However the reality is DEBS does not offer any significant driver to get solar or batteries, but thats ok, we no longer need one as the uptake is still growing and more and more people are also installing batteries without an incentive. If you are considering solar or batteries the one most important factor still remains and that is maximising self consumption. When you focus on self consumption you will get the most financial benefit, self consumption is using your own power that you have generated. Even if that means storing it in a battery for use later at night. Or diverting it to a hot water system to heat your hot water, and another way is diverting it to your EV (Zappi EV chargers are great for this). No one in their right mind would buy a battery to sell power back to Synergy for 10cents when you need to buy it back again later that night for 29 cents!! Dont get caught up in the whole REBS and DEBS offerings just focus on maximising your self consumption and you will get the most financial benefits possible. Incidentally did you know that investing in solar far outweighs many other investments you could make with your money, the ROI (return on investment) percentage is huge when you choose quality products that will last 20 plus years. Talulah (Tesla Model S) is filling up free from the sun with solar generation surplus to the house demand and from 100% renewable energy, thats just damn awesome isnt it.

07.01.2022 Battery Systems from $7300 inc gst. As promised I have listed below some pricing on single phase battery storage systems. Batteries are a hot topic with almost... every client we come in contact with..how much are batteries, is my system battery ready, is there a government incentive. The list goes on and to be honest the answers will vary for most homes. For many having batteries makes sense to them for various reasons. Reasons such as I dont want to give Synergy any more any more money than I have too. I want to have power when the grid goes down because we constantly get outages. I want to do my bit for the environment. I am curious, love technology and just want one! All of the fore mentioned reasons are very good ones, but the jury is still out as to whether it makes economic sense just yet. The reason for that is batteries would be a very significant outlay for most households, the calculated payback is going to be on average around ten years. The warranty on most batteries is also ten years, so if everything goes well and you stay in your house beyond ten years then well done you will be starting to see a return on your investment. However if you move house within the payback period or your equipment fails outside of the warranty period then your financial returns could be negative. HOWEVER like I said, not everyone is in this for the financial benefit and that is what we find with most people that buy batteries. What type of battery should I get and what inverter? The answer to that question will vary as to why you want batteries in the first place. This is something that requires a conversation directly with us so we can design the system to suit your needs. As always you can rest assured that we will only use quality products such as SMA, LG, PowerPlus Energy and BYD Batteries. So how much! OK so I have put together an entry level system using SMA Sunny Boy Storage 2.5kw inverter/charger and BYD 5.1kwh battery. That system supplied and installed subject to site inspection will cost you $7,300 inc gst. Or upgrade that system to LG 7kwh battery and that will cost you $9,200 inc gst. The next system up comes with a single power point for backup power, this will enable you to run an extension lead to fridges and computers etc in the event of losing power from the grid. This system comes with an SMA Sunny Boy Storage 5kw inverter/charger and a BYD 5.1kwh battery and will cost you $8,600 inc gst subject to site inspection. That system can also be upgraded to a LG battery with 7kwh of storage and will cost you $10,400 inc gst. The next system offers automatic backup power to your entire home (16amps max single phase) thanks to the amazing SMA Sunny Boy Storage 5kw inverter/charger being coupled to the SMA Automatic Backup Unit. This system will cost you $10,048 inc gst with the BYD 5.1kwh battery and is subject to site visit. This can also be upgraded to an LG 7kwh battery and will cost you $11,938 inc gst. So thats three systems you can choose from. Now its worth mentioning something very important here. You need to have enough excess solar power generation during the day to be able to charge the battery. Thats fairly easy to work out as your power bill will tell you how much power you have exported back to the grid. We will carefully assess that and all other factors required to get you the right system. So thats it, three systems to choose from all with quality components at very competitive prices. 03.01.2022 Here is a great example of why monitoring of your solar power system and household consumption is so important. You can see this clients loads are completely out of the yellow solar production area. This will be costing them thousands per year in lost savings. We include Solar Analytics with 90% of our systems because of the visibility it provides our clients and us into there energy use and possible under performance issues. Solar Analytics will even profile the savings a battery can offer after being installed for three months. This graph is from an install this week, I have advised the client to move those loads to inside the power production times. NOW they will start really saving some money .
