25.01.2022 A builders work is never done? Due to the torrential rains, Joost has not been able to work on his current jobs - so lucky me - our laundry is getting a make-over! I love the care Joost takes in looking after the details. I’m not quite convinced that Max will be the best apprentice but will certainly provide you with some inquisitive looks! 16.01.2022 Woodrot.. it’s asking for trouble when: you don’t seal a timber surface that’s exposed to the elements, like this post and handrail, and then proceed to just cover things things up with wood-bog and paint. What you can see on the photo of the post is the fungus that's starting to grow in this spot, and it only showed once the rotten handrail came off..... 06.01.2022 Over the last 6 months we've been busy with Figtree Building and Design on a number of projects in the Northern Rivers/Byron Bay Hinterland, however this one got most of my attention: A hardwood cottage renovation/extension to an existing cottage, reusing the original cladding, posts and doors etc. It was a very interesting build due to the materials used and the style of the clients combining for a building process with a lot of variety. 04.01.2022 Last week: Build and fitted a custom privacy screen / wind break using pre-loved hardwood doors The request was to make the screen look good whilst preserving the original features of the doors from their prior use as french doors.
