16.01.2022 I sat my self in the sun this morning and sipped tea from my special occasion cup. Fun fact about me, I collect tea sets I’ve been making it a habit to write down my ideas, intentions, goals for when we are allowed outside again. I’ll be VERY ready to go. If you’ve been thinking about getting some portraits for some time but keep putting it off, why? Let’s make it happen It’ll feel good to tick it off the list. JH, x

14.01.2022 Let’s talk about the value of engagement sessions. I like to think of them as a practice run. For you and for me! Here are three reasons why I think they’re a good idea. 1. Get to know your photographer (Me!) See how I work. The sorts of things I’ll ask you to do. Ease those nerves! So many people say to me that they feel awkward in front of the camera. Guys, I here ya! By giving me the opportunity to get to know you too, I can see the best ways to bring you out of your shel...l. 2. Trial hair and makeup. We all do hair and makeup trails before the big day. Often we sadly go home, sit of the couch and take five million selfie’s. Solution: engagement session. 3. Scout potential locations for the big day. Can’t decide on where you’d like your wedding portraits? An engagement session is a perfect opportunity to check out some locations and explore the possibilities. As it’s a lot more casual than the wedding we can be a little more adventurous and explore those hard to reach locations. What do you think? Is an engagement session something you’d consider? #sherbrookeforest #sherbrookefalls #engaged #engagement #engagementphotos #engagementphotography #melbourneengagement #melbourneweddingphotographer

02.01.2022 It felt so great picking up my camera again. I’d missed it so much. Sam and Jasmine are finally allowed to get married next month, so we ate pizza and scouted photo locations for the big day. Things are looking up Melbourne. I’m so excited for the next few months.

01.01.2022 Getting married? You NEED to read this! Well you don’t need to but I think you’ll find it pretty helpful. These are my top five tips for how to get the most out of your getting ready photos. 1. Schedule. No matter how much time you think you have the morning still seems to race by. So create a timeline and try your best to stick to it. I encourage brides to have their hair and makeup done when I arrive. That way we can jump straight into photos! This doesn’t always happen and... that’s ok. It’s a good goal! (Remember you may need your hairstylist to help with your veil so don’t let them sneak away too quickly). 2. Gather your accessories. Put your jewellery, shoes, cologne, tie and any other sentimental items together so I can photograph them. You could even include one of the wedding invitations. 3. Hang your dress or suit jacket in a safe place that you think looks nice. Don’t worry if you’re unsure - I can always move it. 4. Prepare a tidy space to get ready in. This means making sure there’s no deodorant cans or empty coffee cups around. Pick a nice spot in your house with natural light. Next to a window always works! 5. Allow everyone else time to get dressed before you. That way whoever’s helping you get ready looks great while doing it! Let me know if you have any other helpful wedding tips in the comments.
