23.01.2022 We are extremely proud of our students! Joseph Banks Secondary College won the eSports Interschool Carnival yesterday, with Alkimos College coming in 2nd, followed by Clarkson Community High School. Thank you to everyone who came down to see the event and/or joined us on Twitch! At one point in the day we had over 2000 people watching our games live over the internet. With a big streamer from the US supporting us also. A big thank you to our wonderful IT Team. They worked lon...g hours to make this event a success. 16.01.2022 Earlier this term, some of our Year 11 and 12 students studying Mathematics Specialist and Methods, participated in the Rottnest Island Maths Boot Camp. Exams are over, and we can proudly say that all the studying, and team building activities made a huge impact to our students' outcomes! We can safely say, the island has never seen so many ClassPads and maths books, and never ever so many mathematical terms were spoken on the beach or at the picnic tables! We are quite sure ...all the quokkas are a little smarter as well! A huge thank you to Mr Segler, Mr Harris and Miss Lisa for dedicating their precious time and knowledge to the project of "reimagining the teaching and learning of Mathematics". 14.01.2022 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY - Relaxation Garden Update! Early in Term 3, the Garden Club students embarked on a project to plan a Relaxation Garden for students to unwind and relax. We have been humbled by the donations received from local businesses, members of our community, and parents. The Relaxation Garden is almost complete, and we would like to acknowledge: Joseph Banks Secondary College P&C for their continued support and donations. Quality Moss Rock Supplies for the amazing ...moss rocks. Bunnings Warehouse Australia for the donation of plants, gardening equipment, and expert advice from Julie. Maria Szep: for her donation of blue steel stones and connecting us to Alex, Ian, and Jane for further donations. Alex from Premier Turf Care and Property Maintenance for delivery and donations of stones and mulch. We are incredibly grateful for the local support! Ian and Jane: donated log stools from their property all the way in Williams. Hocking resident Frank K: donated nearly 20 large wooden stepping blocks for the garden - some with hidden grubs in them! The Garden Club is grateful not only for the donations, but the connection to our local community. Volunteering to participate in initiatives such as the Garden Club allows the students to experience a sense of belonging and connectedness to their peers, staff, school community, and the wider community. We look forward to sharing updates on the final phase of the Relaxation Garden soon! Miss Georgia Smith (Endeavour LSM) and Miss Lisa (Youth Support Worker).

10.01.2022 The Cheryl Praeger Mathematics Academy for Girls at Joseph Banks Secondary College has a challenge for all the "maths lovers" out there: "How many four-digit numbers containing no zeros have the property that whenever any one of the four digits is removed the resulting three digit number is divisible by 3?" Please post your answers! Thank you, Miss Kelly Tempest, for mentoring your younger peers to be the best they can be! You are truly fantastic! ... 01.01.2022 This will be our very first Alumni event. Our Alumni Breakfast will be an informal event to find out how our students are progressing on their personalised pathways and how they are managing through COVID. It is also a very special opportunity for our staff to reconnect and see how they can better support our Year 12 students in the future.
