25.01.2022 Did you know that training yourself to breath through your nose can seriously boost your health in just about every way! Conversely, if you are a mouth-breather, it may be the reason behind many of your hard-to-shake health issues, like insomnia, anxiety and chronic fatigue. Take the quiz to find out if this applies to you...

25.01.2022 I've had the pleasure of receiving treatment from the lovely Ursula Faye and I have to say it was an incredible experience. After a full hour of bodywork I had never felt so relaxed. I really feel as if it has helped shift an old, chronic injury that I have been trying to heal. It was also amazing to learn about fascia and how important it is to have this massive organ nurtured. I can highly recommend Ursula's services.

Genetics do play a big role and there isn't anything we can do about this but we can change the other key factors involved: hormone balance diet... sugar-handling gut health treating nutrient deficiencies caring for your skin Each of us is individual and might have one or all of these things going on. 21.01.2022 OMG this Bali retreat for natural health practitioners looks soooo dreamy. Business planning while we rest and revitalise is what we all need I think. Very tempting...

20.01.2022 I had the pleasure of jumping into one of these flotation tanks at Beyond Rest Collingwood earlier this evening to let the worries of my week melt away. The water in these tanks is super-saturated with Epsom salts, which makes your body float weightlessly in the water. The lights go out and you no longer need to use any of your senses or your muscles, you just lay there effortlessly and truely switch off. In these busy times, most of us rarely get a chance to truely let go a...nd relax our sympathetic nervous system. We are all subject to so much stimuli all day long that whether it is good stimuli or bad stimuli we are constantly in a state of stress, constantly 'switched on'. And as we all know stress really is a major player in all diseases. Laying in the tank, I truly felt as if I floated off to a state beyond rest. Somewhere between meditation and sleep I found my mind was quite still and I didn't have to fight the onslaught of thoughts as much as I normally do (and let me tell you, my mind is busy!). When I left the tank my muscles felt supple and relaxed from the infusion of Epsom salts and I thought of how wonderful it would be to do this after a hard day of physical activity or to ease sore, stiff shoulders from sitting at the computer. Both my body and mind was relaxed as I sat in the provided chill-out area, with soft lights, comfortable chairs and herbal tea (I'm very chuffed that my own herbal tea blends will be in the teapot at Beyond Rest Collingwood daily!). The whole experience was utterly decadent and peaceful. A panacea for the modern world...

20.01.2022 This is incredible!

19.01.2022 Happy Christmas everyone. Hope your day is filled with love and yummy treats like this raw caramel slice

19.01.2022 Are many of our caesarians needless? Are there too many unnecessary interventions happening in hospitals? Could home births really be a safe, viable option for many women with the right training and safety nets? In this very interesting episode of Natural MD radio Dr Aviva Romm and Obstetrician Neel Shah tackle these issues and more.

19.01.2022 Yesterday’s cooking adventures included making this delicious gluten free zucchini slice from The Breakfast Project cookbook by Charmaine Dennis and Milly Dabrowski. I highly recommend this eBook if you are after some breakfast inspriation. And was lucky enough to cook it with this huge zucchini from the garden of Charmaine herself!

16.01.2022 We scored this wonderful haul of bishops crown chilis from a friendly neighbor! So pretty. They are only medium heat, classified 5000-30000 scoville units. Any suggestions what we should do with them?

16.01.2022 One banana, one egg, one teaspoon ground cinnamon, one tablespoon ground flaxseed, cook into a pancake and the top with one tablespoon organic Greek yoghurt and one handful crushed walnuts. Simple and perfectly delicious.

14.01.2022 It’s been a delicious day of eating so far. Breakfast stir fry with tofu, enoki, shitake & king oyster mushrooms, broccoli, coriander, black sesame & thin omelette Followed by a light lunch of 100% rye black sourdough toast with heirloom tomatoes, basil and buffalo bocconcini. Plan is to follow it up with chicken & turmeric soup for dinner. Feeling blessed with all the wonderful ingredients I have around me.

11.01.2022 Confused about polycystic ovarian syndrome, which type you have and what it all means? I see a lot of women that end up in my office fed up with it all and bewildered by the long list of symptoms they have, unable to piece it all together. All they know is that it is hard. Hard to know which diet to follow, what supplements or drugs to take, why they aren't getting results or how long it's all going to last for. The truth is, polycystic ovarian syndrome is different for each... and every one of us. We each have our own unique set of underlying causes and our own unique set of symptoms. These factors determine which treatments will be the most effective for each of us. Imagine being guided step by step through your symptoms and the solutions so that you understand what is going on, which changes to make and why. Start with a complimentary 20-minute consultation to see if naturopathic coaching is for you.

10.01.2022 They sell these lovely thick pieces of Aloe Vera for less than $1 one the streets here in Nha Trang Vietnam. They are so packed with cooling gel that one leaf is enough to cover your entire body many times over. Just the perfect thing to keep a burn from developing after a morning swimming at the beautiful beach #herbalmedicinevietnam

10.01.2022 Chocolate porridge. Wow, just what I need to get me going and keep me warm on these cold Melbourne mornings. Just add one teaspoon of raw cacao to your regular porridge while cooking

10.01.2022 Although this video is getting a little old now I still find it very relevant. While I feel lucky to have access to non-toxic alternatives to just about every cosmetic I like to use, supermarket shelves are still packed with products loaded with chemicals, many of them masquerading as "natural" and "organic". You really have to be a savvy shopper to avoid overloading your body with a variety of chemicals, many of which are endocrine disruptors and carcinogens.

10.01.2022 This is so fun to watch and such a good summary of what goes on in our gut Thanks TED-Ed

05.01.2022 So I thought I'd give chocolate porridge a go. Good reason to get out of bed on these cold mornings. It was really yummy. 1/2 cup oats, 1 heaped tsp raw cacao, 1/2 tsp of natural vanilla extract or powder, milk of choice, touch of honey, slice banana and tahini for the top.
