23.01.2022 Advice for anyone camping this weekend.

22.01.2022 My Open Letter to the Water Minister regarding the MDBP: "I call on you, in the interest of all Victorians, to withdraw Victoria from the Murray Darling Basin ...Plan and cease all water sharing plans, until a better outcome for Victorian Farmers can be negotiated." "NSW are already investigating withdrawing from the plan. It is time Victoria does the same."

22.01.2022 I’ve learned that VEAC have released the final report into Public Land in the Central West of Victoria and recommended that they become national parks. Being a ...VEAC report this won’t come as a surprise. I do not support the recommendations because it will lock people out of public land they already use. This isn’t just hunters but prospectors, fossickers and locals who have gathered firewood for decades too. I’ll be talking with the government to try and stop these recommendations becoming reality.

22.01.2022 It could make a huge difference.

21.01.2022 Blindly continuing to push forward with the MDBP has already placed many towns in Victoria under grave threat. Now farmers are preparing to close down farms as ...they receive 2% of their water allocation, while a full river flows past them. All this to keep a man made lake at the mouth of the Murray healthy. It’s well past time we paused the plan. See my media release: http://bit.ly/2XCyPgl

07.01.2022 WHAT IS REALLY KILLING THE BLACK THROATED FINCH? We have all been subjected to the endless drivel coming from green groups as they attempt to demonise the Adani... Mine and highlight the negative effects it will have on the rare Black Throated Finch. Indeed, the Queensland Labor Government itself has used this finch to block the approval process for Adani. This is not the first time this Labor government has used the excuse of protecting rare and threatened plants and animals or the continued loss of biodiversity as a rationale to introduce legislation that limits the rights of Queenslanders to utilise our natural resources. In reality; if you peel back the latest spin to identify the biggest threat to the Black Throated Finch (and thousands of other native plants and animals) you will see a massive lie has been perpetrated by this Labor Government. So, what is the single most significant cause of extinctions of plants and animals in Queensland? Is it mining? No. Is it land clearing? No. Is it those evil farmers and their pesky methane emitting cows? No. It is broadscale agriculture or forestry? No. Well, it must be climate change or changes in land use that’s responsible for killing the poor Black Throated Finch? No. Well what about pollution? Again, no. In Queensland, and across our great nation, the most significant threat to our native species is. invasive plants and animals. Yep, feral cats have been devouring the poor Black Throated Finch since cats were introduced to Australia. Along with their counterpart the feral pig, cats and foxes have already hunted 22 of our native animals to extinction. These 3 invasive animals are responsible for a new tsunami of mass extinction of native animals in northern Australia, particularly in North Queensland. Australia is actually leading the world for the extinction of native mammals and invasive plants and animals are the biggest single contributor to this record. Nothing to be proud of; in fact, it gets worse. In Australia there are 1257 native plants and animals currently listed as threatened or endangered. In Australia, more than 260 invasive plants and animals will drive them to extinction. You would think that Queensland Government has recognised this threat from invasive species through the allocation of extensive resources to the destruction of these foreign invaders; especially in environmentally significant areas such as National Parks. Surprisingly, the answer is a resounding no. The total area of the protected estate in Queensland (National Parks, Reserves and Forest Estates) is 6.9 Million Hectares. And the Queensland Government spends less than 10 cents a hectare in controlling invasive pests across the protected estate. Now I will ask the same question again What is really killing the Black Throated Finch? Answer: The inadequacies of the Queensland Labor Government. 02.01.2022 "The Ministry of Environment and Tourism would like to further bring to the attention of the public and the international community that elephants occur across ...the entire north of Namibia with two main sub-populations in the north-eastern and the north-western parts of the country. In 1995, Namibia had about 7,000 elephants, in 2004 the total population was estimated at about 16,000 while the current figure is just over 22,000 the highest recorded number since population surveys commenced and showing continuous positive growth."
