25.01.2022 ‘We’ll deliver it cheaper and faster,’ the NBN-wrecking Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison government said.
25.01.2022 Relieved to hear that the crossbench will support Labor in blocking the Governments Abbott-era environmental reforms in the Senate. Without minimum protection standards, these laws would have been disastrous for our environment.
24.01.2022 Our aged care system is broken. The Prime Minister needs to stop defending it and his Minister, and take action to prevent more tragedies.
23.01.2022 It was an honour to pay tribute to Bill Cork, a veteran of the Second World War, in Parliament last fortnight. I am looking forward to meeting him at the Cockburn RSL next Friday!
23.01.2022 Proud to stand with my Labor colleagues and the crossbench in opposing Peter Dutton and Alan Tudges disgraceful power grab over people in immigration detention. Thanks to all those in the community whove taken a stand for decency and human rights. #NoPhonesNoLife
22.01.2022 This R U OK Day reach out to your friends and loved ones, check in and ask the question. This year has been a tough one for a lot of us. In some cases, saying R U OK is not enough. The Government should extend the number of sessions available under the Medicare funding mental health plan from 10 20 across Australia, and release the Productivity Commission report into mental health as an urgent priority.
22.01.2022 School holiday fun is sorted in Freo!
22.01.2022 The Morrison Governments pension freeze begins this weekend - and its the first in 23 years. Now, in the middle of pandemic, is not the time to roll back support. This is a slap in the face to hundreds of thousands of older Australians who have already had a tough year.
22.01.2022 After fighting it for SEVEN years, the Liberals now plan to build the NBN properly. Using fibre. Not copper. It's a disgrace that it has taken this long.
22.01.2022 Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Sadly we know that the violence has increased significantly this year. This is a national crisis and a national shame. Today we come together to raise awareness and commit to action to prevent violence against women. We all have a role to play.
21.01.2022 Congratulations to Yangebup Family Centre Inc and East Fremantle Lawn Tennis Club for securing Commonwealth 'Energy Efficient Communities Program' funding. The installation of Solar PV systems and, at Yangeup, new LED lighting throughout, will cut the running costs and carbon footprint at both of these busy community facilities.
21.01.2022 Morrison's 'leave it to the states' approach on waste and recycling means: Less environmental protection Less opportunity for industry to expand and create jobs Less recycling and manufacturing capacity... We need national leadership and action, not more announcements.
21.01.2022 Great news Cockburn! Whilst its good to see members of our community doing their bit, we all know that a lot of waste materials (particularly soft plastic packaging) still cant be recycled. The Federal Government needs to step up and address this issue.
21.01.2022 5 seconds. Thats how long the Government let me speak on their disasterous enviromental "reform" bill before cutting me off. Along with 15 other democratically elected representatives who were denied an opportunity to speak. Appalling.
21.01.2022 The 2019-20 National Drowning Report found sadly that 33 drowning deaths occurred in WA, 14% more than last year. Im proud to be a Drowning Prevention Ambassador, and it's important we all play our part to prevent drownings and protect our communities.
20.01.2022 Fran Logan has represented the people of Cockburn in our state parliament for two decades and has served as Minister in two Labor governments. During that time Cockburn has grown and flourished, and Frans advocacy for local transport, infrastructure, and community projects has been critical to supporting sustainable growth. I have always enjoyed working with Fran to deliver for the people of Cockburn, and as he retires from parliament I acknowledge his considerable public service and wish him and Viv and his family all the very best.

20.01.2022 What a beautiful Spring day to get out and hear from residents of Beeliar, Munster, Success and Cockburn Central. Thanks for coming down to chat with me and David Scaife - Labor for Cockburn.
20.01.2022 This Saturday I'll be holding open air offices in Beeliar and Success with David Scaife - Labor for Cockburn. Whether you need assistance or want to have a chat, we'd love to see you there!
19.01.2022 The aged care system is broken and we've known it for a long time. The Morrison Government should have had a COVID plan for aged care to prevent tragedies like Jayne's.
19.01.2022 The Morrison Government used National Threatened Species day last week to announce that it will bury its failed five-year threatened species strategy under the cover of a new ten-year strategy with no additional funding and no commitment to reform. Labor doesnt want a future where our children are reading about the koala in the history books.
19.01.2022 BREAKING: Labor will not be supporting the Governments Abbott-style environmental laws. As my colleague Terri Butler MP has stated, these reforms have no proposed environmental standards, no independent cop on the beat, and no additional funding for the states despite the extra responsibility. This bill does nothing to protect our environment or support jobs.
19.01.2022 The destruction of the Juukan Gorge caves saw the loss of what can only be described as a place of immeasurable significance. We must ensure this never happens again.
18.01.2022 Terrible news. My thoughts are with local Perth Qantas workers and their families at this time. The Morrison Government's failure to support our local airlines during COVID-19 is a huge disappointment and has hurt jobs.
18.01.2022 This guy is a legend But it shouldnt just be up to people like Michael to keep our roads and parks clean. All levels of government including the Commonwealth have a role to play in reducing waste, improving recycling and keeping our environment healthy.
18.01.2022 We didn't need the Juukan Gorge tragedy to know that protection of our First Nations Heritage is woeful. The Morrison Government needs to step up to make sure this kind of irreparable destruction never happens again.
17.01.2022 The protection of indigenous cultural heritage in Australia is woefully inadequate we dont have an effective national protection framework. But we didnt need the Juukan Gorge tragedy to tell us that.
15.01.2022 It will be harder for locals to get jobs coming out of the recession because Scott Morrison has cut TAFE and abandoned apprentices. Fremantle has lost 730 apprentices and trainees since the Liberals came to power. This week is National Skills Week, a reminder that jobs and training go hand in hand. Its common sense, and with youth unemployment through the roof the PM is locking kids out of jobs.
14.01.2022 23,000 Australians are stranded overseas, 3,450 of them are financially or medically vulnerable. The Morrison Government needs to do whatever it takes to get these Aussies home. Stopping price gouging by airlines and putting all options on the table including charter flights.
14.01.2022 Do you live in Freo or Cockburn and have feedback on the JobKeeper scheme? It doesn't matter whether you're a recipient or not, I am keen to better understand how JobKeeper has impacted workers and businesses in my community. Complete my quick survey here
14.01.2022 After speaking on this issue in the Federal Parliament just a few weeks ago I am glad the State Government has been able to find a sensible solution that doesnt impact on our ability to keep WA safe.
14.01.2022 Its National Threatened Species Day, and just days ago the Morrison Government rushed changes to the environment laws through the House of Representatives - with no National Environmental Standards, and no compliance or enforcement mechanisms. This video was filmed a year ago and, sadly, this Liberal Government is still failing to address our extinction crisis.
13.01.2022 Reliable and consistent phone service is essential. And while Australia's vast distances make for a significant telecommunication challenge to ensure connection of remote and rural communities, it really is not good enough that residents in metropolitan suburbs like Treeby have sub-standard mobile phone service. Treeby Community Association https://www.perthnow.com.au//treeby-mobile-coverage-reside
13.01.2022 Premier Dan Andrews and the people of Victoria have shown incredible resolve and discipline in crushing down the infection numbers from the second wave of this awful virus a task not helped by a Prime Minister and a federal government that spends every day attacking Labor premiers. That is not leadership.
13.01.2022 When is this government going to start ackowledging the environmental reality, and its responsibility to do something about it?
13.01.2022 This is why I wont be supporting the Governments Abbott-style environmental bill. LEAN Australia - Labor Environment Action Network
11.01.2022 The WA Government continues to be extremely supportive of our bid to see shipbuilding jobs moved to WA. Why won’t the Morrison Government give WA it’s fair share? Workers in my electorate deserve so much better.
10.01.2022 Its going to be a big week! 7 speeches in parliament covering a range of topics including Centrelink, acknowledging local WW2 veterans, environmental protection, recycling and the role hydrogen will play in WAs future energy mix.
10.01.2022 This Saturday Ill be in Jandakot and Treeby with Yaz Mubarakai MLA! Whether you need some help or want to say hello, drop by for a chat.
09.01.2022 Today is Equal Pay Day, marking the 59 additional days from the end of the previous financial year that women must work, on average, to earn the same amount as men earned that year. The national gender pay gap remains stagnant at 14% and we know that this pandemic has impacted women disproportionately. Where is Scott Morrisons plan to fix this serious issue?
09.01.2022 Qantas plans to outsource its entire ground operations which means no baggage handlers, cabin cleaners, push-back drivers or ramp operators will ever work for Qantas again unless the board stands up for the airline and pressure management to keep these jobs Qantas. #SaveQantasJobs Transport Workers Union - TWU
09.01.2022 Being part of a documentary about type 2 diabetes in Australia - with Ray Kelly and Stephen Muecke - and produced by awesome Fremantle filmmaker Artemis Media.

08.01.2022 Today marks seven years of Liberal Government. Seven years of neglect and buck-passing. This Government is always there for the photo opp, but never there for the follow up.
08.01.2022 The protection of indigenous cultural heritage in Australia is woefully inadequate we don't have an effective national protection framework. But we didnt need the Juukan Gorge tragedy to tell us that.
08.01.2022 Today marks the first 'National Water Safety Day.' What better time to make sure swimming lessons are on the agenda for your kids! As a proud Water Safety Ambassador for Royal Life Saving Society WA I will continue to support their efforts to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn to swim.
07.01.2022 Morrisons leave it to the states approach on waste and recycling means: Less environmental protection Less opportunity for industry to expand and create jobs Less recycling and manufacturing capacity... We need national leadership and action, not more announcements.
07.01.2022 Important update

07.01.2022 Ive visited enough aged care centres across my electorate to know that the industry desperately needs better support from Government. The Prime Minister may not have a plan to protect older Australians, but Labor does. Let me know what you think.
07.01.2022 The Liberals have failed when it comes to environmental protection and theyve failed when it comes to administering a timely and certain assessment process - which has hurt investment and jobs.
06.01.2022 I know many people have been nervous about COVID-19 and that might mean you have put off seeing your GP. My advice is to pick up the phone: find out the steps your practice has taken to keep you safe. If you are still worried, ask to have your appointment by video or phone. Dont leave your regular health issues unchecked. #SeeYourGP
06.01.2022 Jersey Day raises awareness of the importance of organ donation. Use this opportunity to talk to loved ones about your wishes. #jerseydayau #donatelife
05.01.2022 In case we needed any more evidence of the Morrison Governments ability to completely botch environmental reform.

02.01.2022 Today is the International Day of Peace. It was an honour to attend both the Fremantle and Cockburn ceremonies, to reflect on the importance of nuclear non-proliferation and strong international friendships. The atrocities that unfolded in Nagasaki and Hiroshima will always act as a poignant reminder for why the campaign to abolish nuclear weapons remains so important.
02.01.2022 Sussan Ley came out this morning blaming her advisors for her failure to respond to traditional owners, who had contacted her office to try and stop the Juukan Gorge tragedy. Labor is calling on the Minister to be honest with the Australian people about what she knew and when, and to explain why she doesn't have a process in place for exercising emergency powers. The destruction of the Juukan Gorge rock shelters is a tragedy and we must ensure that nothing like this happens again.
02.01.2022 Thank you City of Stirling for the tour of your fabulous Resource Recovery Centre!
02.01.2022 Our diversity is our strength. This morning representatives from south metro multicultural community organisations joined me and my colleagues to speak with Labor's National Multicultural Engagement Taskforce. Whether you arrived in Australia in the past few years, or your grandparents arrived sixty years ago, we want to know how our policies and government agencies can better support you, your family and your community.
02.01.2022 The Government's inability to make a decision on the future location of our submarine full-cycle docking program is a complete joke. Today Defence Minister Linda Reynolds was once again asked by media if she could advise when the Morrison Government would finally be ready to decide the future of WA's shipbuilding industry and associated jobs......
01.01.2022 The aged care system is broken and weve known it for a long time. The Morrison Government should have had a COVID plan for aged care to prevent tragedies like Jaynes.
